44 But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
30 Jesus said: »A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him of his clothing, beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
31 Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side.
32 So likewise, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.
33 But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was; and when he saw him, he had compassion.
34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.
36 Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?«
37 He said, »The one who showed mercy on him.« And Jesus said to him, »Go and do likewise.«
3 Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought to him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst,
4 they said to him, »Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery.
5 Now in the law Moses commanded us to stone such. What do you say?«
6 They said this to test him, that they might have something of which to accuse him. But Jesus bent down and wrote on the ground with his finger.
7 And when they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, »Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.«
8 And again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
9 Then those who heard it went away one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last, and Jesus was left alone, with the woman standing before him.
10 Jesus straightened up and said to her, »Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?«
11 She said, »No one, Lord.« And Jesus said, »Neither do I condemn you; go, and sin no more.«
13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
5 When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help,
6 and saying, »Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, in terrible distress.«
7 And Jesus said to him, »I will come and heal him.«
8 But the centurion answered him, »Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof. But only say the word, and my servant will be healed.
9 For I also am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to this one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it.«
10 When Jesus heard him, he marveled, and said to those who followed him, »Truly, I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such great faith.
11 I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
12 But the sons of the kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.«
13 Then to the centurion Jesus said, »Go; be it done for you as you have believed.« And his servant was healed at that very hour.
