1 And LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
2 Speak to the sons of Israel, and take rods from them, one for each fathers' house, from all their rulers according to their fathers' houses, twelve rods. Write thou every man's name upon his rod.
3 And thou shall write Aaron's name upon the rod of Levi, for there shall be one rod for each head of their fathers' houses.
4 And thou shall lay them up in the tent of meeting before the testimony, where I meet with you.
5 And it shall come to pass, that the rod of the man whom I shall choose shall bud. And I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the sons of Israel, which they murmur against you.
6 And Moses spoke to the sons of Israel. And all their rulers gave him rods, for each ruler one, according to their fathers' houses, even twelve rods, and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.
7 And Moses laid up the rods before LORD in the tent of the testimony.
8 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses went into the tent of the testimony, and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and put forth buds, and produced blossoms, and bore ripe almonds.
9 And Moses brought out all the rods from before LORD to all the sons of Israel. And they looked, and took every man his rod.
10 And LORD said to Moses, Put back the rod of Aaron before the testimony, to be kept for a sign against the sons of rebellion, that thou may make an end of their murmurings against me, that they not die.
11 Thus Moses did. As LORD commanded him, so he did.
14 And it came to pass, when the people moved from their tents to pass over the Jordan--the priests who bore the ark of the covenant being before the people--
15 and when those who bore the ark came to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who bore the ark were dipped in the brink of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks all the time of harvest),
16 that the waters which came down from above, stood, and rose up in one heap a great way off, at Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan, and those that went down toward the sea of the Arabah, even the Salt Sea, were wholly cut off. A
17 And the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of LORD stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan, and all Israel passed over on dry ground until all the nation were passed clean over the Jordan.
14 Return, O backsliding sons, says LORD, for I am a husband to you. And I will take you, one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion.
15 And I will give you shepherds according to my heart, who shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.
16 And it shall come to pass, when ye are multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, says LORD, they shall no more say, The ark of the covenant of LORD, nor shall it come to mind. Neither shall they remember it, nor shall th
10 And the men did so, and took two milk cows, and tied them to the cart, and shut up their calves at home.
11 And they put the ark of LORD upon the cart, and the coffer with the mice of gold and the images of their tumors.
12 And the cows took the straight way by the way to Beth-shemesh. They went along the highway, lowing as they went, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left. And the lords of the Philistines went behind them to the border
13 And those of Beth-shemesh were reaping their wheat harvest in the valley. And they lifted up their eyes, and saw the ark, and rejoiced to see it.
14 And the cart came into the field of Joshua the Beth-shemite, and stood there where there was a great stone. And they split the wood of the cart, and offered up the cows for a burnt-offering to LORD.
15 And the Levites took down the ark of LORD, and the coffer that was with it, in which the jewels of gold were, and put them on the great stone. And the men of Beth-shemesh offered burnt-offerings and sacrificed sacrifices the same d
89 And when Moses went into the tent of meeting to speak with him, then he heard the Voice speaking to him from above the mercy-seat that was upon the ark of the testimony, from between the two cherubim, and he spoke to him.
1 And Bezalel made the ark of acacia wood; two cubits and a half was the length of it, and a cubit and a half the breadth of it, and a cubit and a half the height of it.
20 And he took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy-seat above upon the ark.
21 And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the veil of the screen, and screened the ark of the testimony, as LORD commanded Moses.
20 So the people shouted, and [the priests] blew the trumpets. And it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, that the people shouted with a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up in
1 And LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
2 On the first day of the first month thou shall raise up the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.
3 And thou shall put the ark of the testimony in it, and thou shall screen the ark with the veil.
6 But the hand of LORD was heavy upon them of Ashdod, and he destroyed them, and smote them with tumors, even Ashdod and the borders of it.
7 And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us, for his hand is hard upon us, and upon Dagon our god.
8 They sent therefore and gathered all the lords of the Philistines to them, and said, What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel? And they answered, Let the ark of the God of Israel be carried about to Gath. And they carried
9 And it was so, that, after they had carried it about, the hand of LORD was against the city with a very great discomfiture. And he smote the men of the city, both small and great, and tumors broke out upon them.
10 So they sent the ark of God to Ekron. And it came to pass, as the ark of God came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, They have brought about the ark of the God of Israel to us, to kill us and our people.
11 They sent therefore and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and they said, Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to its own place, that it not kill us and our people. For there was a deadly dis
1 Now Jericho was shut up tight because of the sons of Israel. None went out, and none came in.
2 And LORD said to Joshua, See, I have given Jericho into thy hand, and the king of it, and the mighty men of valor.
3 And ye shall encompass the city, all the men of war, going around the city once. Thus shall thou do six days.
4 And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark. And the seventh day ye shall encompass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.
5 And it shall be, that, when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout. And the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall g

2 And the Philistines put themselves in array against Israel. And when they joined battle, Israel was smitten before the Philistines; and they killed of the army in the field about four thousand men.
3 And when the people came into the camp, the elders of Israel said, Why has LORD smitten us today before the Philistines? Let us fetch the ark of the covenant of LORD out of Shiloh to us, that it may come among us, and save us out o
4 So the people sent to Shiloh, and they brought from there the ark of the covenant of LORD of hosts, who sits [above] the cherubim. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.
5 And when the ark of the covenant of LORD came into the camp, all Israel shouted with a great shout, so that the earth rang again.
6 And when the Philistines heard the noise of the shout, they said, What is the meaning of the noise of this great shout in the camp of the Hebrews? And they understood that the ark of LORD came into the camp.
7 And the Philistines were afraid, for they said, God has come into the camp. And they said, Woe to us! For there has not been such a thing heretofore.
8 Woe to us! Who shall deliver us out of the hand of these mighty gods? These are the gods that smote the Egyptians with all manner of plagues in the wilderness.
9 Be strong, and strengthen yourselves like men, O ye Philistines, that ye be not servants to the Hebrews, as they have been to you. Conduct yourselves like men, and fight.
10 And the Philistines fought, and Israel was smitten, and they fled every man to his tent. And there was a very great slaughter, for there fell of Israel thirty thousand footmen.
11 And the ark of God was taken, and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were killed.
22 And there I will meet with thee. And I will commune with thee from above the mercy-seat, from between the two cherubim which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment to the sons of Isra
10 And they shall make an ark of acacia wood. Two cubits and a half shall be the length of it, and a cubit and a half the breadth of it, and a cubit and a half the height of it.
11 And thou shall overlay it with pure gold. Inside and outside thou shall overlay it, and shall make upon it a crown of gold round about.
12 And thou shall cast four rings of gold for it, and put them in the four feet of it. And two rings shall be on the one side of it, and two rings on the other side of it.
13 And thou shall make staves of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold.
14 And thou shall put the staves into the rings on the sides of the ark, with which to bear the ark.
15 The staves shall be in the rings of the ark; they shall not be taken from it.
16 And thou shall put into the ark the testimony which I shall give thee.
17 And thou shall make a mercy-seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half the length of it, and a cubit and a half the breadth of it.
18 And thou shall make two cherubim of gold; of beaten work shall thou make them, at the two ends of the mercy-seat.
19 And make one cherub at the one end, and one cherub at the other end; of one piece with the mercy-seat ye shall make the cherubim on the two ends of it.
20 And the cherubim shall spread out their wings on high, covering the mercy-seat with their wings, with their faces one to another; the faces of the cherubim shall be toward the mercy-seat.
21 And thou shall put the mercy-seat above upon the ark. And in the ark thou shall put the testimony that I shall give thee.
19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of the covenant of the Lord was seen in his temple. And there occurred lightnings, and voices, and thunders, and great hail.

13 And it was so, that, when those who bore the ark of LORD had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fatling.
14 And David danced before LORD with all his might. And David was girded with a linen ephod.
15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.
1 Now indeed therefore the first had ordinances of divine service and the earthly sanctuary.
2 For a tabernacle was prepared, the first in which was also the lampstand, and the table, and the presentation of the loaves, which is called the Holy place.
3 And behind the second curtain, the tabernacle called the Holy of holies,
4 having a golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid entirely in gold, in which was a golden pot holding the manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tablets of the covenant.
5 And above it were cherubim of glory overshadowing the place of forgiveness, about which things it is not now to speak in detail.
33 And they set forward from the mount of LORD three days' journey. And the ark of the covenant of LORD went before them three days' journey, to seek out a resting-place for them.
34 And the cloud of LORD was over them by day when they set forward from the camp.
35 And it came to pass, when the ark set forward, that Moses said, Rise up, O LORD, and let thine enemies be scattered, and let those who hate thee flee before thee.
36 And when it rested, he said, Return, O LORD, to the ten thousands of the thousands of Israel.
1 And the ark of LORD was in the country of the Philistines seven months.
2 And the Philistines called for the priests and the psychics, saying, What shall we do with the ark of LORD? Show us with what we shall sent it to its place.
3 And they said, If ye send away the ark of the God of Israel, do not send it empty, but by all means return for him a trespass-offering. Then ye shall be healed, and it shall be known to you why his hand is not removed from you.
1 And the men of Kiriath-jearim came, and fetched up the ark of LORD, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill, and sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of LORD.
2 And it came to pass, from the day that the ark abode in Kiriath-jearim, that the time was long, for it was twenty years, and all the house of Israel lamented after LORD.

6 And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of LORD to its place, into the oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubim.
7 For the cherubim spread forth their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and the staves of it above.
8 And the staves were so long that the ends of the staves were seen from the holy place before the oracle. But they were not seen outside. And there they are to this day.
9 There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets of stone which Moses put there at Horeb when LORD made a covenant with the sons of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.
10 And it came to pass, when the priests came out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of LORD,
11 so that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud, for the glory of LORD filled the house of LORD.
