1 \1:17\And the Lord made ready a great fish to take Jonah into its mouth; and Jonah was inside the fish for three days and three nights.

2 \2:1\Then Jonah made prayer to the Lord his God from the inside of the fish, and said,

3 \2:2\In my trouble I was crying to the Lord, and he gave me an answer; out of the deepest underworld I sent up a cry, and you gave ear to my voice.

4 \2:3\For you have put me down into the deep, into the heart of the sea; and the river was round about me; all your waves and your rolling waters went over me.

5 \2:4\And I said, I have been sent away from before your eyes; how may I ever again see your holy Temple?

6 \2:5\The waters were circling round me, even to the neck; the deep was about me; the sea-grass was twisted round my head.

7 \2:6\I went down to the bases of the mountains; as for the earth, her walls were about me for ever: but you have taken up my life from the underworld, O Lord my God.

8 \2:7\When my soul in me was overcome, I kept the memory of the Lord: and my prayer came in to you, into your holy Temple.

9 \2:8\The worshippers of false gods have given up their only hope.

10 \2:9\But I will make an offering to you with the voice of praise; I will give effect to my oaths. Salvation is the Lord's.

11 \2:10\And at the Lord's order, the fish sent Jonah out of its mouth on to the dry land.

1 א וימן יהוה דג גדול לבלע את יונה ויהי יונה במעי הדג שלשה ימים ושלשה לילות

2 ב ויתפלל יונה אל יהוה אלהיו ממעי הדגה

3 ג ויאמר קראתי מצרה לי אל יהוה--ויענני מבטן שאול שועתי שמעת קולי

4 ד ותשליכני מצולה בלבב ימים ונהר יסבבני כל משבריך וגליך עלי עברו

5 ה ואני אמרתי נגרשתי מנגד עיניך אך אוסיף להביט אל היכל קדשך

6 ו אפפוני מים עד נפש תהום יסבבני סוף חבוש לראשי

7 ז לקצבי הרים ירדתי הארץ ברחיה בעדי לעולם ותעל משחת חיי יהוה אלהי

8 ח בהתעטף עלי נפשי את יהוה זכרתי ותבוא אליך תפלתי אל היכל קדשך

9 ט משמרים הבלי שוא--חסדם יעזבו

10 י ואני בקול תודה אזבחה לך אשר נדרתי אשלמה  ישועתה ליהוה  {ס} [ (Jonah 2:11) יא ויאמר יהוה לדג ויקא את יונה אל היבשה  {פ} ]
