37 And he said to him, Thou shalt love {the} Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy understanding.

38 This is {the} great and first commandment.

39 And {the} second is like it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments the whole law and the prophets hang.

37 Jesus antwortete: "'Du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, lieben von ganzem Herzen, mit ganzer Seele, mit ganzem Verstand!'

38 Das ist das erste und wichtigste Gebot.

39 Das zweite ist ebenso wichtig: 'Du sollst deinen Nächsten lieben wie dich selbst!'

40 Mit diesen beiden Geboten ist alles gesagt, was das Gesetz und die Propheten wollen."
