16 And Ruth said, Do not intreat me to leave thee, to return from {following} after thee; for whither thou goest I will go, and where thou lodgest I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God;

17 where thou diest will I die, and there will I be buried. Jehovah do so to me, and more also, if aught but death part me and thee!

16 Aber Rut sagte: "Dränge mich nicht, dich zu verlassen. Ich gehe nicht weg von dir! Denn wo du hingehst, gehe auch ich hin, und wo du bleibst, da bleibe auch ich. Dein Volk ist mein Volk und dein Gott ist mein Gott.

17 Wo du stirbst, will auch ich sterben und begraben werden. Jahwe möge mir alles Mögliche antun, aber nur der Tod wird mich von dir trennen!"
