20 And he rose up and went to his own father. But while he was yet a long way off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell upon his neck, and covered him with kisses.
21 And the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before thee; I am no longer worthy to be called thy son.
22 But the father said to his bondmen, Bring out the best robe and clothe him in {it}, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet;
23 and bring the fatted calf and kill it, and let us eat and make merry:
3 Lo, children are an inheritance from Jehovah, {and} the fruit of the womb a reward.
4 As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of youth.
5 Happy is the man that hath filled his quiver with them. They shall not be ashamed when they speak with enemies in the gate.
24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son; but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
13 Be vigilant; stand fast in the faith; quit yourselves like men; be strong.
26 In the fear of Jehovah is strong confidence, and his children shall have a place of refuge.
24 The father of a righteous {man} shall greatly rejoice, and he that begetteth a wise {son} shall have joy of him:
12 Honour thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be prolonged in the land that Jehovah thy God giveth thee.
7 The righteous walketh in his integrity: blessed are his children after him!
15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve Jehovah, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods whom your fathers that were on the other side of the river served, or the gods of the Amorite, in whose land ye dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve Jehovah.
6 Train up the child according to the tenor of his way, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
