Having put away therefore all malice and all guile and hypocrisies and envies and all evilspeakings, 
as newborn babes, the rational sincere milk earnestly desire you, so that by it you may grow to salvation; 
if indeed you tasted, that gracious the Lord. 
To whom drawing near, a stone living, by men indeed being rejected, with but God chosen, honorable, 
and yourselves as stones living be you built up, a house spiritual, a priesthood holy, to offer spiritual sacrifices, wellpleasing to the God through Jesus Anointed. 
Because it is contained in the writing: Lo, I place in Zion a stone cornerfoundation, chosen, honorable; and the believing on it, not not may be ashamed. 
To you therefore the honor to those believing to disbelieving but, a stone which rejected those building, this became for a head of a corner, and a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence; 
those stumbling, to the word being disobedient, for which even they were appointed. 
You but, a race chosen, a royal priesthood, a nation holy, a people for a purpose, so that the virtues you may declare of the out of darkness you one having called into the wonderful of himself light; 
those once not a people, now but a people of God; those not having obtained mercy, now but having obtained mercy. 
Beloved ones, I entreat as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from the fleshly lusts, which war against the life; 
the conduct of you among the Gentiles having upright; so that in what they speak against you as evildoers, from the good works having looked on, they may glorify the God in a day of inspection. 
Be you subject therefore to every human creation on account of the Lord; whether to a king, as being preeminent; 
or to governors, as by means of him being sent for punishment of evildoers, praise but of gooddoers; 
(because thus it is the will of the God, welldoing to muzzle the of the unwise of men ignorance;) 
as freemen, and not as a covering having of the badness the freedom, but as slaves of God. 
All do you honor; the brotherhood do you love; the God do you fear; the king do you honor. 
The household servants, being submissive with all fear to the masters, not only to the good ones and gentle ones, but also to the perverse ones. 
This for pleasing, if through a conscience of God bears up under any one griefs, suffering unjustly. 
What for credit, if sinning and being beaten you shall endure? but if doing good and suffering you shall endure, this pleasing with God. 
To this for you were called; because even Anointed suffered on behalf of you, to you leaving behind an example, so that you may follow in the steps of him; 
who sin not did, nor was found guile in the mouth of him; 
who being reviled not reviled again, suffering not he threatened, delivered himself up but to the one judging righteously; 
who the sins of us himself carried up in the body of himself to the tree, that to the sins having died, to the righteousness we may live; of whom by the scars of him you were healed. 
You were for as sheep going astray; but have turned back now to the shepherd and guardian of the lives of you. 

Put away all badness and all deception, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil talk. 
Like newborn infants, long for the spiritual milk that is without deception to help you grow to salvation. 
You have tasted that the Lord is kind. 
You came to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen and precious with God. 
You also as living stones are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 
The scriptures say: »I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, chosen and precious (Isaiah 28:16). He who believes in him will not be disappointed shamed.« 
This precious value is for those who believe. But for the unbeliever: »The stone that the builders rejected became the cornerstone.« 
It is a stone that people stumble over, and a large rock that people find offensive. They stumble because they are disobedient to the word. To this end they were appointed. 
You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a people for Gods own possession, that you may show the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 
In time past you were no people, but now you are the people of God. You had not then received, but now have received mercy compassiondivine kindness. 
Beloved, I request that you as aliens and strangers abstain from fleshly lust desires, which causes conflict in you. 
Maintain fine behavior among the nations. That way when they speak badly about you, they may see your good works and glorify God in the day of visitation inspection. 
Be subject to every ordinance of man for the Lords sake: whether it is to the king, 
or to governors, as sent by him for vengeance on evildoers and for praise to those who do good. 
It is Gods will that you do the right things and that this will silence the ignorance of foolish men. 
Be free, and yet do not use your freedom for a covering for evil, but as servants of God. 
Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Reverence and respect God. Honor the king. 
Servants, be in subjection to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle master but also to the hard to please. 
For this is to your credit to suffer wrongfully and endure grief because of your conscience toward God. 
What value is there when you sin, and are buffeted for it, you take it patiently? But if, when you do well and suffer for it, you take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. 
For this you were called because Christ also suffered for you. He left you an example a copy for imitationa model that you should follow in his steps. 
He committed no sin and deception was not found in him. 
When he was reviled insulted, he did not revile in return. When he suffered he did not threaten, but committed himself to him that judges righteously. 
He bore our sins in his body upon the stake, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. You were healed because of his wounds stripes. 
For you were straying like sheep. But now you have returned to your shepherd and overseer.
