1 Und Elia, {H. Elijah: Jah ist mein Gott} der Tisbiter, von den Beisassen Gileads, {And.: von Tischbe-Gilead} sprach zu Ahab: So wahr Jehova lebt, der Gott Israels, vor dessen Angesicht ich stehe, wenn es in diesen Jahren Tau und Regen geben wird, es sei denn auf mein Wort!

2 Und es geschah das Wort Jehovas zu ihm also:

3 Gehe von hinnen und wende dich nach Osten, und verbirg dich am Bache Krith, der vor {d.h. östlich von} dem Jordan ist.

4 Und es soll geschehen, aus dem Bache wirst du trinken, und ich habe den Raben geboten, dich daselbst zu versorgen.

5 Und er ging hin und tat nach dem Worte Jehovas: er ging hin und blieb am Bache Krith, der vor dem Jordan ist.

6 Und die Raben brachten ihm Brot und Fleisch am Morgen, und Brot und Fleisch am Abend, und er trank aus dem Bache.

7 Und es geschah nach Verlauf einer Zeit, da vertrocknete der Bach, denn es war kein Regen im Lande.

8 Da geschah das Wort Jehovas zu ihm also:

9 Mache dich auf, gehe nach Zarpath, {H. Zarephath; Gr. Sarepta} das zu Zidon gehört, und bleibe daselbst; siehe ich habe daselbst einer Witwe geboten, dich zu versorgen.

10 Und er machte sich auf und ging nach Zarpath; und als er an den Eingang der Stadt kam, siehe, da war eine Witwe daselbst, die Holz auflas. Und er rief ihr zu und sprach: Hole mir doch ein wenig Wasser im Gefäß, daß ich trinke!

11 Und als sie hinging, um es zu holen, rief er ihr zu und sprach: Hole mir doch einen Bissen Brot in deiner Hand!

12 Und sie sprach: So wahr Jehova, dein Gott lebt, wenn ich einen Kuchen {d.h. Brotkuchen} habe außer einer Handvoll Mehl im Topfe und ein wenig Öl im Kruge! und siehe, ich lese ein paar Holzstücke auf und will hineingehen und es mir und meinem Sohne bereiten, daß wir es essen und dann sterben.

13 Und Elia sprach zu ihr: Fürchte dich nicht! gehe hinein, tue nach deinem Worte; doch bereite mir zuerst einen kleinen Kuchen davon und bringe ihn mir heraus; und dir und deinem Sohne bereite danach.

14 Denn so spricht Jehova, der Gott Israels: Das Mehl im Topfe soll nicht ausgehen, und das Öl im Kruge nicht abnehmen {Eig. der Mehltopf soll nicht ausgehen und der Ölkrug soll nicht abnehmen; so auch V.16} bis auf den Tag, da Jehova Regen geben wird auf den Erdboden.

15 Und sie ging hin und tat nach dem Worte Elias; und sie aß, er und sie, und ihr Haus, viele Tage.

16 Das Mehl im Topfe ging nicht aus, und das Öl im Kruge nahm nicht ab, nach dem Worte Jehovas, das er durch Elia geredet hatte.

17 Und es geschah nach diesen Dingen, da wurde der Sohn des Weibes, der Hauswirtin, krank; und seine Krankheit wurde sehr schwer, so daß kein Odem mehr in ihm blieb.

18 Da sprach sie zu Elia: Was haben wir miteinander zu schaffen, Mann Gottes? Du bist {O. Bist du...?} zu mir gekommen, um meine Ungerechtigkeit ins Gedächtnis zu bringen und meinen Sohn zu töten!

19 Und er sprach zu ihr: Gib mir deinen Sohn her. Und er nahm ihn von ihrem Schoße {Eig. Busen} und brachte ihn hinauf in das Obergemach, wo er wohnte, und legte ihn auf sein Bett.

20 Und er rief zu Jehova und sprach: Jehova, mein Gott, hast du gar an der Witwe, bei der ich mich aufhalte, übel getan, ihren Sohn zu töten?

21 Und er streckte sich dreimal über das Kind, und rief zu Jehova und sprach: Jehova, mein Gott, laß doch die Seele dieses Kindes wieder in dasselbe zurückkehren!

22 Und Jehova hörte auf die Stimme Elias, und die Seele des Kindes kehrte wieder in dasselbe zurück, und es wurde lebendig. {W. es lebte}

23 Da nahm Elia das Kind und brachte es von dem Obergemach in das Haus hinab und gab es seiner Mutter; und Elia sprach: Siehe, dein Sohn lebt!

24 Und das Weib sprach zu Elia: Nunmehr erkenne ich, daß du ein Mann Gottes bist, und daß das Wort Jehovas in deinem Munde Wahrheit ist.

6 A na nga raweni i kawe mai he taro, he kikokiko mana i te ata, he taro, he kikokiko mana i te ahiahi; no te awa hoki tona wai.

7 Nawai a kei etahi ra mai, ka maroke te awa, kahore hoki he ua o te whenua.

8 Na ka puta mai te kupu a Ihowa ki a ia, ka mea,

11 Na haere ana tera ki te tiki, a ka karanga ano ia ki a ia, Tena tetahi wahi taro maua mai i tou ringa maku.

12 Na ka mea ia, E ora ana a Ihowa, tou Atua, kahore aku keke; engari he kutanga paraoa i roto i te oko, me tetahi hinu, he iti nei, i roto i te ipu, e kohikohi ana ano tenei ahau i nga rakau e rua, kia haere ai ahau ki te taka i taua mea ma maua k o taku tama, mo ta maua kai atu, ka mate ai.

13 Na ka mea a Iraia ki a ia, Kaua e wehi, tikina, meatia tau i ki mai na; Otiia matua hanga mai te tahi wahi hei keke maku, kia nohinohi, ka mau mai ai ki ahau; a muri iho ka hanga ma korua ko tau tama.

14 Ko te kupu hoki tenei a Ihowa, a te Atua o Iharaira, E kore e pau te oko paraoa, e kore ano te ipu hinu e poto a taea noatia te ra e homai ai e Ihowa he ua ki te mata o te whenua.

15 Na haere ana ia; meatia ana ta Iraia i ki ai, a kai ana raua, me tona whare ano, i nga ra maha.

16 Kihai te oko paraoa i hemo, kihai hoki te ipu hinu i poto, rite tonu ki te kupu a Ihowa i korerotia ra e Iraia.

19 Na ka mea tera ki a ia, Homai tau tamaiti ki ahau. Na tangohia ana e ia i tona uma, a kawea ana ki te ruma i runga, ki te wahi i noho ai ia, whakatakotoria ana e ia ki tona moenga.

20 Na ka karanga ia ki a Ihowa, ka mea, E Ihowa, e toku Atua, kua meatia ano hoki e koe he kino ki tenei pouaru e noho nei ahau ki a ia, i tana tama ka whakamatea nei?

21 Na wharoro ana ia, e toru nga wharorotanga ki runga ki te tamaiti, a ka karanga ki a Ihowa, ka mea, E Ihowa, e toku Atua, kia hoki mai te wairua o tenei tamaiti ki roto ki a ia.

22 Na rongo tonu a Ihowa ki te reo o Iraia; a hoki ana te wairua o te tamaiti ki roto ki a ia, na kua ora.

23 Na ka mau a Iraia ki te tamaiti, a kawea atu ana i taua ruma ki raro, ki te whare, a hoatu ana ki tona whaea: a ka mea a Iraia, Titiro, kei te ora tau tama.

24 Na ka mea te wahine ra ki a Iraia, Katahi rawa ahau ka mohio he tangata koe na te Atua, he pono ano te kupu a Ihowa i tou mangai.
