1 Seid nun Nachahmer Gottes, als geliebte Kinder,

2 und wandelt in Liebe, gleichwie auch der Christus uns geliebt und sich selbst für uns hingegeben hat als Darbringung und Schlachtopfer, Gott zu einem duftenden Wohlgeruch.

3 Hurerei aber und alle Unreinigkeit oder Habsucht {O. Gier} werde nicht einmal unter euch genannt, gleichwie es Heiligen geziemt;

4 auch Schändlichkeit und albernes Geschwätz oder Witzelei, welche sich nicht geziemen, sondern vielmehr Danksagung.

5 Denn dieses wisset und erkennet ihr, {Eig. wisset ihr, indem ihr erkennet} daß kein Hurer oder Unreiner oder Habsüchtiger, {O. Gieriger} (welcher ein Götzendiener ist) ein Erbteil hat in dem Reiche Christi und Gottes.

6 Niemand verführe euch mit eitlen {O. leeren} Worten, denn dieser Dinge wegen kommt der Zorn Gottes über die Söhne des Ungehorsams.

7 Seid nun nicht ihre Mitgenossen.

8 Denn einst waret ihr Finsternis, jetzt aber seid ihr Licht in dem Herrn; wandelt als Kinder des Lichts,

9 (denn die Frucht des Lichts besteht in aller Gütigkeit und Gerechtigkeit und Wahrheit),

10 indem ihr prüfet, was dem Herrn wohlgefällig ist.

11 Und habet nicht Gemeinschaft mit den unfruchtbaren Werken der Finsternis, vielmehr aber strafet sie auch; {O. stellet sie auch bloß}

12 denn was heimlich von ihnen geschieht, ist schändlich selbst zu sagen.

13 Alles aber, was bloßgestellt {O. gestraft} wird, wird durch das Licht offenbar gemacht; {O. was durch das Licht bloßgestellt wird, wird offenbar gemacht} denn das Licht ist es, welches alles offenbar macht. {And. üb.: denn alles, was offenbar gemacht wird, ist Licht}

14 Deshalb sagt er: Wache auf, der du schläfst, und stehe auf aus den Toten, und der Christus wird dir leuchten!

15 Sehet nun zu, wie ihr sorgfältig wandelt, nicht als Unweise, sondern als Weise,

16 die gelegene Zeit auskaufend, denn die Tage sind böse.

17 Darum seid nicht töricht, sondern verständig, was der Wille des Herrn sei.

18 Und berauschet euch nicht mit Wein, in welchem Ausschweifung ist, sondern werdet mit dem Geiste erfüllt,

19 redend zueinander {O. zu euch selbst} in Psalmen und Lobliedern und geistlichen Liedern, singend und spielend dem Herrn in {O. mit} eurem Herzen,

20 danksagend allezeit für alles dem Gott und Vater im Namen unseres Herrn Jesu Christi,

21 einander unterwürfig in der Furcht Christi.

22 Ihr Weiber, [seid unterwürfig] euren eigenen Männern, als dem Herrn.

23 Denn der Mann ist das Haupt des Weibes, wie auch der Christus das Haupt der Versammlung ist; er ist des Leibes Heiland.

24 Aber gleichwie die Versammlung dem Christus unterworfen ist, also auch die Weiber ihren Männern in allem.

25 Ihr Männer, liebet eure Weiber, gleichwie auch der Christus die Versammlung geliebt und sich selbst für sie hingegeben hat,

26 auf daß er sie heiligte, sie reinigend {O. gereinigt habend} durch die Waschung mit Wasser durch das Wort,

27 auf daß er die Versammlung sich selbst verherrlicht darstellte, die nicht Flecken oder Runzel oder etwas dergleichen habe, sondern daß sie heilig und tadellos sei.

28 Also sind auch die Männer schuldig, ihre {Eig. ihre eigenen} Weiber zu lieben wie {O. als} ihre eigenen Leiber. Wer sein {Eig. sein eigenes} Weib liebt, liebt sich selbst.

29 Denn niemand hat jemals sein eigenes Fleisch gehaßt, sondern er nährt und pflegt es, gleichwie auch der Christus die Versammlung.

30 Denn wir sind Glieder seines Leibes, [von seinem Fleische und von seinen Gebeinen].

31 "Deswegen wird ein Mensch seinen Vater und seine Mutter verlassen und seinem Weibe anhangen, und die zwei werden ein {W. zu einem} Fleisch sein". {1. Mose 2,24}

32 Dieses Geheimnis ist groß; ich aber sage es in Bezug auf Christum und auf die Versammlung.

33 Doch auch ihr, ein jeder von euch liebe sein Weib also wie sich selbst; das Weib aber, daß sie den Mann fürchte.

4 Kaua hoki te mea paruparu, te korero wairangi, te korero maminga, kahore nei i tika, erangi ia te whakawhetai.

5 E tino matau ana hoki koutou ki tenei, e kore tetahi tangata moepuku, poke ranei, apo ranei, he kaikarakia nei hoki ia ki te whakapakoko, e whai wahi ki te rangatiratanga o te Karaiti, a o te Atua.

6 Kei tinihangatia koutou e te tangata ki nga kupu tekateka noa: na enei mea hoki te riri o te Atua e puta nei ki nga tamariki a te tutu.

7 Na, kaua koutou e uru ki ta ratou.

8 He pouri hoki koutou i mua, tena ko tenei, he marama i roto i te Ariki: kia rite ta koutou haere ki ta nga tamariki o te marama:

9 Kei runga hoki te hua o te marama i te pai katoa, i te tika, i te pono.

10 Me whakamatau ano e koutou ta te Ariki e pai ai.

11 Kei uru koutou ki nga mahi huakore o te pouri, engari whakahengia.

12 He mea whakama hoki te whakahua kau, i nga mea e meinga ngarotia nei e ratou.

13 Ko nga mea katoa hoki e whakahengia ana, ma te marama e whakakite: he marama hoki nga mea katoa e whakakitea ana.

14 Koia hoki tana kupu nei, Maranga, e tenei e moe nei, ara ake i roto i te hunga mate, a ka whiti a te Karaiti ki runga ki a koe.

15 Na reira kia ata tirotiro i ta koutou haere, kei rite ki ta nga whakaarokore, engari ki ta nga whakaaro nui;

16 Hokona te taima ma koutou, he kino hoki nga ra.

17 Mo konei ra kei whakaarokore koutou, engari kia matau ki ta te Ariki e pai ai.

18 Kaua hoki e haurangi i te waina, he toreretanga hoki tena ki te he; engari kia ki i te Wairua;

19 Ko ta koutou korero ki a koutou ano, hei te waiata tapu, hei te himene, hei te waiata wairua; waiata, himene atu, i roto i o koutou ngakau ki te Ariki;

20 Me te whakawhetai ki te Atua, ara ki te Matua i nga wa katoa, mo nga mea katoa, i runga i te ingoa o to tatou Ariki, o Ihu Karaiti;

21 Kia ngohengohe tetahi ki tetahi i runga i te wehi ki a te Karaiti.

22 E nga wahine, kia ngohengohe ki a koutou tane ake, hei mea ki te Ariki.

23 No te mea ko te tane te o te wahine, e rite ana hoki ki a te Karaiti, ko te ia o te hahi: ko te kaiwhakaora ano ia o te tinana.

24 Otiia e ngohengohe ana te hahi ki ta te Karaiti, kia pera ano nga wahine ki a ratou tane i nga mea katoa.

25 E nga tane, arohaina a koutou wahine, kia pera hoki me te Karaiti i aroha nei ki te hahi, i hoatu hoki i a ia ano mo taua hahi;

26 Hei whakatapunga mana, ma rawa i a ia i te horoinga ki te wai, i runga i te kupu,

27 Hei hahi tapae mana ki a ia ano, he hahi kororia rawa, kahore he ira, kahore he korukoru, tetahi atu mea pera ranei, engari kia tapu, kia kohakore.

28 Me aroha e nga tane a ratou wahine me te mea ko o ratou tinana ake ano. Ko te tangata e aroha ana ki tana wahine ake, e aroha ana ki a ia ake ano.

29 Kahore hoki tetahi kia kino noa ki tona kikokiko ake; engari e atawhai ana, e whakaahuru ana, e pera tonu ana me ta te Karaiti ki te hahi:

30 He wahi hoki tatou no tona tinana.

31 Mo konei ra ka whakarerea ai e te tangata tona papa me tona whaea, a ka piri ki tana wahine, ka kikokiko kotahi to raua tokorua.

32 He nui tenei mea ngaro; otiia mo te Karaiti raua ko te hahi taku korero.

33 Engari kia rite ki tona aroha ki a ia ake ano to koutou aroha, to tenei, to tenei, ki tana wahine, ki tana wahine; me te wahine ano, kia hopohopo ia ki tana tane.
