1 Und {2. Chron. 7,11} es geschah, als Salomo den Bau des Hauses Jehovas und des Hauses des Königs und alles Begehren Salomos, das ihm zu machen gefiel, vollendet hatte,

2 da erschien Jehova dem Salomo zum zweiten Male, wie er ihm zu Gibeon erschienen war.

3 Und Jehova sprach zu ihm: Ich habe dein Gebet und dein Flehen gehört, das du vor mir gefleht hast; ich habe dieses Haus, das du gebaut hast, geheiligt, um meinen Namen dahin zu setzen auf ewig; und meine Augen und mein Herz sollen daselbst sein allezeit.

4 Und du, wenn du vor mir wandeln wirst, so wie dein Vater David gewandelt hat, in Lauterkeit des Herzens und in Geradheit, daß du tust nach allem, was ich dir geboten habe, und wenn du meine Satzungen und meine Rechte beobachten wirst,

5 so werde ich den Thron deines Königtums über Israel befestigen ewiglich, so wie ich zu deinem Vater David geredet habe, indem ich sprach: Es soll dir nicht an einem Manne fehlen auf dem Throne Israels.

6 Wenn ihr aber, ihr und eure Kinder, euch hinter mir abwenden und meine Gebote, meine Satzungen, die ich euch vorgelegt habe, nicht beobachten werdet, und werdet hingehen und anderen Göttern dienen und euch vor ihnen niederbeugen,

7 so werde ich Israel ausrotten aus dem Lande, das ich ihnen gegeben; und das Haus, welches ich meinem Namen geheiligt habe, werde ich von meinem Angesicht wegwerfen; und Israel wird zum Sprichwort und zur Spottrede werden unter allen Völkern.

8 Und dieses Haus, das erhaben war, - {So nach der Alexandr. Übersetzung. Im hebr. Texte steht: wird erhaben sein. Vergl. 2. Chron. 7,21} jeder, der an demselben vorbeigeht, wird sich entsetzen und zischen. Und man wird sagen: Warum hat Jehova diesem Lande und diesem Hause also getan?

9 Und man wird sagen: Darum, daß sie Jehova, ihren Gott, der ihre Väter aus dem Lande Ägypten herausgeführt hat, verlassen und andere Götter angenommen {W. ergriffen} und sich vor ihnen niedergebeugt und ihnen gedient haben: darum hat Jehova all dieses Unglück über sie gebracht.

10 Und {2. Chron. 8} es geschah am Ende von zwanzig Jahren, während welcher Salomo die beiden Häuser, das Haus Jehovas und das Haus des Königs, gebaut hatte, -

11 Hiram, der König von Tyrus, hatte Salomo mit Cedernholz und mit Cypressenholz und mit Gold nach all seinem Begehr unterstützt - damals gab der König Salomo dem Hiram zwanzig Städte im Lande Galiläa.

12 Und Hiram zog von Tyrus aus, um die Städte zu besehen, die Salomo ihm gegeben hatte; und sie waren nicht recht in seinen Augen.

13 Und er sprach: Was sind das für Städte, die du mir gegeben hast, mein Bruder! Und er {O. man} nannte sie das Land Kabul bis auf diesen Tag.

14 Hiram hatte nämlich dem König 120 Talente Gold gesandt.

15 Und dies ist die Sache mit der Fron, welche der König Salomo aushob, um das Haus Jehovas zu bauen und sein Haus und das Millo {Wall, Burg; vergl. Richter 9,6; 2. Sam. 5,9} und die Mauer von Jerusalem, und Hazor und Megiddo und Geser.

16 (Der Pharao, der König von Ägypten, war heraufgezogen und hatte Geser eingenommen und es mit Feuer verbrannt und die Kanaaniter, die in der Stadt wohnten, erschlagen; und er hatte es seiner Tochter, dem Weibe Salomos, als Mitgift gegeben.)

17 Und Salomo baute Geser und Unter-Beth-Horon

18 und Baalath, und Tadmor {Nach and. Lesart: Tamar} in der Wüste, im Lande;

19 und alle Vorratsstädte, die Salomo hatte, und die Wagenstädte und die Reiterstädte; und was Salomo Lust hatte zu bauen in Jerusalem und auf dem Libanon und im ganzen Lande seiner Herrschaft.

20 Alles Volk, das übriggeblieben war von den Amoritern, den Hethitern, den Perisitern, den Hewitern und den Jebusitern, die nicht von den Kindern Israel waren:

21 ihre Söhne, die nach ihnen im Lande übriggeblieben waren, welche die Kinder Israel nicht zu verbannen vermocht hatten, die hob Salomo zu Fronarbeitern aus bis auf diesen Tag.

22 Aber aus den Kindern Israel machte Salomo keine Sklaven, sondern sie waren Kriegsleute und seine Knechte und seine Obersten und seine Anführer, {S. die Anm. zu 2. Sam. 23,8} und Oberste seiner Wagen und seiner Reiter.

23 Dies sind die Oberaufseher, welche über das Werk Salomos waren: 550, die über das Volk walteten, das an dem Werke arbeitete.

24 Sobald die Tochter des Pharao aus der Stadt Davids in ihr Haus hinaufgezogen war, das er ihr erbaut hatte, da baute er das Millo.

25 Und Salomo opferte dreimal im Jahre Brandopfer und Friedensopfer auf dem Altar, den er Jehova erbaut hatte; und er räucherte auf dem, der vor Jehova stand. Und er vollendete das Haus.

26 Und der König Salomo machte eine Flotte zu Ezjon-Geber, das bei Eloth, am Ufer des Schilfmeeres, im Lande Edom liegt.

27 Und Hiram sandte auf der Flotte seine Knechte, Schiffsleute, die des Meeres kundig waren, mit den Knechten Salomos.

28 Und sie kamen nach Ophir und holten von dort Gold, 420 Talente, und brachten es zu dem König Salomo.

1 When Solomon had finished the building of Yahweh’s house, the king’s house, and all Solomon’s desire which he was pleased to do, 2 Yahweh appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon. 3 Yahweh said to him, "I have heard your prayer and your supplication that you have made before me. I have made this house holy, which you have built, to put my name there forever; and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually. 4 As for you, if you will walk before me as David your father walked, in integrity of heart and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you, and will keep my statutes and my ordinances, 5 then I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel forever, as I promised to David your father, saying, ‘There shall not fail from you a man on the throne of Israel.’ 6 But if you turn away from following me, you or your children, and not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods and worship them, 7 then I will cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and I will cast this house, which I have made holy for my name, out of my sight; and Israel will be a proverb and a byword among all peoples. 8 Though this house is so high, yet everyone who passes by it will be astonished and hiss; and they will say, ‘Why has Yahweh done this to this land and to this house?’ 9 and they will answer, ‘Because they abandoned Yahweh their God, who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and embraced other gods, and worshiped them, and served them. Therefore Yahweh has brought all this evil on them.’"

10 At the end of twenty years, in which Solomon had built the two houses, Yahweh’s house and the king’s house 11 (now Hiram the king of Tyre had furnished Solomon with cedar trees and cypress trees, and with gold, according to all his desire), King Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee. 12 Hiram came out of Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him; and they didn’t please him. 13 He said, "What cities are these which you have given me, my brother?" He called them the land of Cabul to this day. 14 Hiram sent to the king one hundred twenty talents of gold.

15 This is the reason of the forced labor which king Solomon conscripted: to build Yahweh’s house, his own house, Millo, Jerusalem’s wall, Hazor, Megiddo, and Gezer. 16 Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up, taken Gezer, burned it with fire, killed the Canaanites who lived in the city, and given it for a wedding gift to his daughter, Solomon’s wife. 17 Solomon built in the land Gezer, Beth Horon the lower, 18 Baalath, Tamar in the wilderness, 19 all the storage cities that Solomon had, the cities for his chariots, the cities for his horsemen, and that which Solomon desired to build for his pleasure in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion. 20 As for all the people who were left of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of the children of Israel— 21 their children who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel were not able utterly to destroy—of them Solomon raised a levy of bondservants to this day. 22 But of the children of Israel Solomon made no bondservants; but they were the men of war, his servants, his princes, his captains, and rulers of his chariots and of his horsemen. 23 These were the five hundred fifty chief officers who were over Solomon’s work, who ruled over the people who labored in the work.

24 But Pharaoh’s daughter came up out of David’s city to her house which Solomon had built for her. Then he built Millo.

25 Solomon offered burnt offerings and peace offerings on the altar which he built to Yahweh three times per year, burning incense with them on the altar that was before Yahweh. So he finished the house.

26 King Solomon made a fleet of ships in Ezion Geber, which is beside Eloth, on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom. 27 Hiram sent in the fleet his servants, sailors who had knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon. 28 They came to Ophir, and fetched from there gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought it to king Solomon.
