1 Alsdann wird das Reich der Himmel gleich geworden sein zehn Jungfrauen, welche ihre Lampen nahmen und ausgingen, dem Bräutigam entgegen. {Eig. zur Begegnung (And.: Einholung) des Bräutigams; so auch V. 6}
2 Fünf aber von ihnen waren klug und fünf töricht.
3 Die, welche töricht waren, nahmen ihre Lampen und nahmen kein Öl mit sich;
4 die Klugen aber nahmen Öl in ihren Gefäßen mit ihren Lampen.
5 Als aber der Bräutigam verzog, wurden sie alle schläfrig und schliefen ein.
6 Um Mitternacht aber entstand ein Geschrei: Siehe, der Bräutigam! gehet aus, ihm entgegen!
7 Da standen alle jene Jungfrauen auf und schmückten ihre Lampen.
8 Die Törichten aber sprachen zu den Klugen: Gebet uns von eurem Öl, denn unsere Lampen erlöschen.
9 Die Klugen aber antworteten und sagten: Nicht also, damit es nicht etwa für uns und euch nicht ausreiche; gehet lieber hin zu den Verkäufern und kaufet für euch selbst.
10 Als sie aber hingingen zu kaufen, kam der Bräutigam, und die bereit waren, gingen mit ihm ein zur Hochzeit; und die Tür ward verschlossen.
11 Später aber kommen auch die übrigen Jungfrauen und sagen: Herr, Herr, tue uns auf!
12 Er aber antwortete und sprach: Wahrlich, ich sage euch, ich kenne euch nicht.
13 So wachet nun, denn ihr wisset weder den Tag noch die Stunde.
14 Denn gleichwie ein Mensch, der außer Landes reiste, seine eigenen Knechte rief und ihnen seine Habe übergab:
15 und einem gab er fünf Talente, einem anderen zwei, einem anderen eins, einem jeden nach seiner eigenen Fähigkeit; und alsbald {And. verbinden "alsbald" mit V. 16} reiste er außer Landes.
16 Der die fünf Talente empfangen hatte, ging aber hin und handelte mit denselben und gewann andere fünf Talente.
17 Desgleichen auch der die zwei empfangen hatte, auch er gewann andere zwei.
18 Der aber das eine empfangen hatte, ging hin, grub in die Erde und verbarg das Geld seines Herrn.
19 Nach langer Zeit aber kommt der Herr jener Knechte und hält Rechnung mit ihnen.
20 Und es trat herzu, der die fünf Talente empfangen hatte, und brachte andere fünf Talente und sagte: Herr, fünf Talente hast du mir übergeben; siehe, andere fünf Talente habe ich zu denselben gewonnen.
21 Sein Herr sprach zu ihm: Wohl, du guter und treuer Knecht! über weniges warst du treu, über vieles werde ich dich setzen; gehe ein in die Freude deines Herrn.
22 Es trat aber auch herzu, der die zwei Talente empfangen hatte, und sprach: Herr, zwei Talente hast du mir übergeben; siehe, andere zwei Talente habe ich zu denselben gewonnen.
23 Sein Herr sprach zu ihm: Wohl, du guter und treuer Knecht! über weniges warst du treu, über vieles werde ich dich setzen; gehe ein in die Freude deines Herrn.
24 Es trat aber auch herzu, der das eine Talent empfangen hatte, und sprach: Herr, ich kannte dich, daß du ein harter Mann bist: du erntest, wo du nicht gesät, und sammelst, wo du nicht ausgestreut hast;
25 und ich fürchtete mich und ging hin und verbarg dein Talent in der Erde; siehe, da hast du das Deine.
26 Sein Herr aber antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Böser und fauler Knecht! du wußtest, daß ich ernte, wo ich nicht gesät, und sammle, wo ich nicht ausgestreut habe?
27 So solltest du nun mein Geld den Wechslern gegeben haben, und wenn ich kam, hätte ich das Meine mit Zinsen erhalten.
28 Nehmet nun das Talent von ihm und gebet es dem, der die zehn Talente hat;
29 denn jedem, der da hat, wird gegeben werden, und er wird Überfluß haben; von dem aber, der nicht hat, von dem wird selbst was er hat weggenommen werden.
30 Und den unnützen Knecht werfet hinaus in die äußere Finsternis: {O. in die Finsternis draußen} da wird sein das Weinen und das Zähneknirschen.
31 Wenn aber der Sohn des Menschen kommen wird in seiner Herrlichkeit, und alle Engel mit ihm, dann wird er auf seinem Throne der Herrlichkeit {O. dem Throne seiner Herrlichkeit} sitzen;
32 und vor ihm werden versammelt werden alle Nationen, und er wird sie voneinander scheiden, gleichwie der Hirt die Schafe von den Böcken {Eig. Ziegenböcken} scheidet.
33 Und er wird die Schafe zu seiner Rechten stellen, die Böcke {Eig. Böcklein; vergl. die Anm. zu Kap. 15,26} aber zur Linken.
34 Dann wird der König zu denen zu seiner Rechten sagen: Kommet her, Gesegnete meines Vaters, ererbet das Reich, das euch bereitet ist von Grundlegung der Welt an;
35 denn mich hungerte, und ihr gabet mir zu essen; mich dürstete, und ihr tränktet mich; ich war Fremdling, und ihr nahmet mich auf;
36 nackt, und ihr bekleidetet mich; ich war krank, und ihr besuchtet mich; ich war im Gefängnis, und ihr kamet zu mir.
37 Alsdann werden die Gerechten ihm antworten und sagen: Herr, wann sahen wir dich hungrig, und speisten dich? oder durstig und tränkten dich?
38 wann aber sahen wir dich als Fremdling, und nahmen dich auf? oder nackt und bekleideten dich?
39 wann aber sahen wir dich krank oder im Gefängnis, und kamen zu dir?
40 Und der König wird antworten und zu ihnen sagen: Wahrlich, ich sage euch, insofern ihr es einem der geringsten dieser meiner Brüder getan habt, habt ihr es mir getan.
41 Dann wird er auch zu denen zur Linken sagen: Gehet von mir, Verfluchte, in das ewige Feuer, das bereitet ist dem Teufel und seinen Engeln;
42 denn mich hungerte, und ihr gabet mir nicht zu essen; mich dürstete, und ihr tränktet mich nicht;
43 ich war Fremdling, und ihr nahmet mich nicht auf; nackt, und ihr bekleidetet mich nicht; krank und im Gefängnis, und ihr besuchtet mich nicht.
44 Dann werden auch sie antworten und sagen: Herr, wann sahen wir dich hungrig oder durstig oder als Fremdling oder nackt oder krank oder im Gefängnis, und haben dir nicht gedient?
45 Dann wird er ihnen antworten und sagen: Wahrlich, ich sage euch, insofern ihr es einem dieser Geringsten nicht getan habt, habt ihr es auch mir nicht getan.
46 Und diese werden hingehen in die ewige Pein, {O. Strafe} die Gerechten aber in das ewige Leben.
1 "Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. 3 Those who were foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 Now while the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and slept. 6 But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Behold! The bridegroom is coming! Come out to meet him!’ 7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘What if there isn’t enough for us and you? You go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ 10 While they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut. 11 Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us.’ 12 But he answered, ‘Most certainly I tell you, I don’t know you.’ 13 Watch therefore, for you don’t know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
14 "For it is like a man going into another country, who called his own servants and entrusted his goods to them. 15 To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his own ability. Then he went on his journey. 16 Immediately he who received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. 17 In the same way, he also who got the two gained another two. 18 But he who received the one talent went away and dug in the earth and hid his lord’s money.
19 "Now after a long time the lord of those servants came, and settled accounts with them. 20 He who received the five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents. Behold, I have gained another five talents in addition to them.’
21 "His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
22 "He also who got the two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents. Behold, I have gained another two talents in addition to them.’
23 "His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things. I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
24 "He also who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you that you are a hard man, reaping where you didn’t sow, and gathering where you didn’t scatter. 25 I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the earth. Behold, you have what is yours.’
26 "But his lord answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I didn’t sow, and gather where I didn’t scatter. 27 You ought therefore to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received back my own with interest. 28 Take away therefore the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents. 29 For to everyone who has will be given, and he will have abundance, but from him who doesn’t have, even that which he has will be taken away. 30 Throw out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
31 "But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory. 32 Before him all the nations will be gathered, and he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will tell those on his right hand, ‘Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; 35 for I was hungry and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you took me in. 36 I was naked and you clothed me. I was sick and you visited me. I was in prison and you came to me.’
37 "Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you a drink? 38 When did we see you as a stranger and take you in, or naked and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and come to you?’
40 "The King will answer them, ‘Most certainly I tell you, because you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ 41 Then he will say also to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels; 42 for I was hungry, and you didn’t give me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink; 43 I was a stranger, and you didn’t take me in; naked, and you didn’t clothe me; sick, and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’
44 "Then they will also answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and didn’t help you?’
45 "Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Most certainly I tell you, because you didn’t do it to one of the least of these, you didn’t do it to me.’ 46 These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
