1 Jesus aber ging nach dem Oelberge.2 Früh Morgens aber kam er wieder in den Tempel, und alles Volk kam zu ihm, und er setzte sich und lehrte sie.3 Die Schriftgelehrten und die Pharisäer aber bringen ein Weib zu ihm, ergriffen im Ehebruch, und stellen sie in die Mitte,4 und sprechen zu ihm: Lehrer, dieses Weib ist auf der That selbst im Ehebruch ergriffen worden.5 In dem Gesetz aber hat uns Moses geboten, daß solche gesteinigt werden; du nun, was sagst du?6 Dieses aber sagten sie, ihn versuchend, auf daß sie etwas hätten, um ihn anzuklagen. Jesus aber bückte sich nieder und schrieb mit dem Finger auf die Erde.7 Als sie aber fortfuhren, ihn zu fragen, richtete er sich auf und sprach zu ihnen: Wer von euch nicht gesündigt hat, der werfe zuerst den Stein auf sie.8 Und wiederum bückte er sich nieder und schrieb auf die Erde.9 Sie aber, als sie es hörten und von dem Gewissen überführt wurden, gingen einer nach dem andern hinaus, anfangend von den Aeltesten bis zu den Letzten; und Jesus war allein gelassen, und das Weib in der Mitte stehend.10 Als aber Jesus sich aufrichtete; und niemanden sah außer dem Weibe, sprach er zu ihr: Weib, wo sind jene, deine Verkläger? Hat dich niemand verurtheilt?11 Sie aber sprach: Niemand, Herr. Jesus aber sprach zu ihr: So verurtheile auch ich dich nicht: gehe hin und sündige nicht mehr.

1 Jesus but went into the mountain of the olivetrees;2 early morn and again he came into the temple, and all the people came to him; and having sat down he taught them.3 Bring and the scribes and the Pharisees to him a woman in adultery having been taken, and placing her in middle,4 they say to him: O teacher, this the woman was taken in the very act committing adultery.5 In now the law Moses to us commanded the such like to be stoned? thou therefore what sayest thou?6 This but they said tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. The but Jesus down stooping, with the finger wrote on the ground.7 When but they continued asking him, having raised up he said to them: He without sin of you, first the stone on her let him cast.8 And again down stooping, wrote on the ground.9 They and having heard, and by the conscience being convinced, went out one by one, beginning from the elders even to the last ones; and left alone the Jesus, and the woman in middle standing.10 Having raised up and the Jesus, and no one seeing but the woman, said to her: The woman, where are those the accusers of thee? no one thee condemned?11 She and said: No one, O lord. Said and to her the Jesus: Neither I thee condemn; go, and no longer do thou sin.
