26 Und im sechsten Monat ward der Engel Gabriel von Gott gesandt in eine Stadt von Galiläa, Namens Nazareth,
27 zu einer Jungfrau, die verlobt war einem Manne, Namens Joseph, aus dem Hause Davids; und der Name der Jungfrau war Maria.
28 Und der Engel trat zu ihr hinein und sprach: Sei gegrüßt, du Begnadigte! der Herr ist mit dir; du bist gesegnet unter den Weibern!
29 Sie aber, als sie hinsah, ward bestürzt über sein Wort und überlegte, was dies für ein Gruß sei.
30 Und der Engel sprach zu ihr: Fürchte dich nicht, Maria, denn du hast Gnade gefunden bei Gott;
31 und siehe, du wirst im Leibe empfangen und einen Sohn gebären, und sollst seinen Namen Jesus heißen.
32 Dieser wird groß sein und Sohn des Höchsten genannt werden; und der Herr, Gott, Herr ist hier der Name für Jehova: Jehova Elohim wird ihm den Thron seines Vaters David geben;
33 und er wird herrschen über das Haus Jakobs in die Zeitalter, und seines Reiches wird kein Ende sein.
34 Maria aber sprach zu dem Engel: Wie wird dieses sein, dieweil ich keinen Mann kenne?
35 Und der Engel antwortete und sprach zu ihr: Der Heilige Geist wird über dich kommen, und die Kraft des Höchsten wird dich überschatten; darum wird auch das Heilige, das T. r. f. h. von dir geboren wird, Gottes Sohn genannt werden.
36 Und siehe, Elisabeth, deine Verwandte, ist auch schwanger mit einem Sohne in ihrem Alter, und dies ist der sechste Monat bei ihr, welche die Unfruchtbare genannt war;
37 denn bei Gott wird kein Ding unmöglich sein.
38 Maria aber sprach: Siehe, die Magd des Herrn; es geschehe mir nach deinem Worte. Und der Engel schied von ihr.
26 In now the month the sixth was sent the messenger Gabriel by the God to a city of the Galilee, to which a name Nazareth,
27 to a virgin having been betrothed to a man, to whom a name Joseph, of house of David; and the name of the virgin, Mary.
28 And coming the messenger to her, said: Hail, having been favored; the Lord with thee. having been blessed thou among women.
29 She but at the word was greatly agitated, and pondered, what could be the salutation this.
30 And said the messenger to her: Not fear, Mary; thou hast found for favor with the God.
31 And lo, thou shalt conceive in womb, and shalt bear a son, and thou shalt call the name of him Jesus.
32 This shall be great, and a son of highest he shall be called; and shall give to him a Lord the God the throne of David the father of him;
33 and he shall reign over the house of Jacob to the ages, and of the kingdom of him not shall be and end.
34 Said but Mary to the messenger: How shall be this, since a man not I know?
35 And answering the messenger said to her: A spirit holy shall come upon thee, and a power of highest shall overshadow thee; therefore and the being begotten holy, shall be called a son of God.
36 And lo, Elisabeth the kinswoman of thee, even she having conceived a son in old age of her; and this month sixth is to her the being called barren.
37 For not shall be impossible with the God every word.
38 Said and Mary: Lo, the handmaid of a Lord; may it be done to me according to the word of thee. And went from her the messenger.
