4 Aram aber zeugte Aminadab, Aminadab aber zeugte Nahasson, Nahasson aber zeugte Salmon,

5 Salmon aber zeugte Boas von der Rahab; Boas aber zeugte Obed von der Ruth; Obed aber zeugte Jesse,

6 Jesse aber zeugte David, den König. David, der König, aber zeugte Salomon von dem Weibe des Uria,

7 Salomon aber zeugte Roboam, Roboam aber zeugte Abia, Abia aber zeugte Asa,

8 Asa aber zeugte Josaphat, Josaphat aber zeugte Joram, Joram aber zeugte Osia,

9 Osia aber zeugte Jotham, Jotham aber zeugte Achas, Achas aber zeugte Ezekia,

10 Ezekia aber zeugte Manasse, Manasse aber zeugte Amon, Amon aber zeugte Josia,

11 Josia aber zeugte Jechonia und seine Brüder um die Zeit der Wegführung O. Uebersiedlung nach Babylon.

12 Nach der Wegführung O. Uebersiedlung nach Babylon aber zeugte Jechonia Salathiel, Salathiel aber zeugte Zorobabel,

13 Zorobabel aber zeugte Abiud, Abiud aber zeugte Eliakim, Eliakim aber zeugte Asor,

14 Asor aber zeugte Zadok, Zadok aber zeugte Achim, Achim aber zeugte Eliud,

15 Eliud aber zeugte Eleasar, Eleasar aber zeugte Matthan, Matthan aber zeugte Jakob,

16 Jakob aber zeugte Joseph, den Mann der Maria, von welcher Jesus geboren ist, der genannt ist Christus.

17 So sind nun alle Geschlechter von Abraham bis David vierzehn Geschlechter, und von David bis auf die Wegführung O. Uebersiedlung nach Babylon vierzehn Geschlechter, und von der Wegführung O. Uebersiedlung nach Babylon bis auf den Christus vierzehn Geschlechter.

18 Die Geburt Jesu Christi war aber also: Als nämlich Maria, seine Mutter, dem Joseph verlobt war, ward sie, ehe sie zusammengekommen waren, schwanger erfunden von dem Heiligen Geiste.

19 Joseph aber, ihr Mann, indem er gerecht war und sie nicht öffentlich zur Schau stellen wollte, gedachte sie heimlich zu entlassen;

20 als er aber solches bei sich überlegte, siehe, da erschien ihm ein Engel des Herrn "Herr", ohne Artikel, bezeichnet hier und an mehreren anderen Stellen den Namen "Jehova" im Traum und sprach: Joseph, Sohn Davids, fürchte dich nicht, Maria, dein Weib, zu dir zu nehmen; denn das in ihr gezeuget ist, ist von dem Heiligen Geiste.

21 Und sie wird einen Sohn gebären, und du sollst seinen Namen Jesus nennen; denn er wird sein Volk erretten von ihren Sünden.

22 Alles dieses aber ist geschehen, auf daß erfüllet würde, was von dem Herrn "Herr", ohne Artikel bezeichnet hier und an mehreren anderen Stellen den Namen: "Jehova" geredet ist durch den Propheten, der da spricht:

23 "Siehe, die Jungfrau wird schwanger sein und einen Sohn gebären, und sie werden seinen Namen nennen: Emmanuel", Jes. 7,14 was verdolmetscht heißt: Gott mit uns.

24 Joseph aber, vom Schlafe erwacht, tat, wie ihm der Engel des Herrn befohlen hatte, und nahm sein Weib zu sich;

25 und erkannte sie nicht, bis sie ihren erstgeborenen Sohn geboren hatte; und er nannte seinen Namen Jesus.

20 These but of him thinking on, lo a messenger of a Lord in a dream appeared to him, saying: Joseph, son of David, not thou shouldst fear to take Mary the wife of thee; that for in her being found, by a spirit is holy;

21 she shall bear and a son, and thou shalt call the name of him Jesus; he for shall save the people of him from the sins of them;

22 (This and all was done, so that might be fulfilled the word spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying:

23 Lo, the virgin in womb shall have, and shall bear a son, and they shall call the name of him Emmanuel; which is being translated, with us a God.)

24 Being aroused and the Joseph from the sleep, he did as commanded to him the messenger of a Lord, and took the wife of him,

25 but not he knew her till she brought forth the a son of her the first born; and called the name of him Jesus.
