1 Und als sie Jerusalem nahten und nach Bethphage am Ölberge kamen, da sandte Jesus zwei Jünger

2 zu ihnen sagend: Gehet hin in das Dorf, das euch gegenüberliegt; und alsbald werdet ihr eine Eselin angebunden finden, und ein Füllen bei ihr; löset sie ab und führet sie zu mir.

3 Und wenn jemand zu euch etwas sagen wird, so sollt ihr sprechen: Der Herr bedarf ihrer, alsbald sendet er sie.

4 Dies alles aber ist geschehen, damit erfüllt würde, das geredet ist durch den Propheten, der da sagt:

5 "Sprechet zu der Tochter Zion: Siehe, dein König kommt zu dir, sanftmütig und sitzend auf einer Eselin und Wohl in dem Sinne von: "und zwar" auf einem Füllen, des Lasttiers Jungen". Sach. 9,9

6 Als aber die Jünger hingegangen waren und getan, wie Jesus ihnen aufgetragen,

7 brachten sie die Eselin und das Füllen und legten ihre Kleider auf sie, und er setzte sich auf dieselben.

8 Und eine sehr große Volksmenge breitete ihre Kleider aus auf den Weg; andere aber hieben Zweige von den Bäumen und streueten sie auf den Weg.

9 Die Volksmenge aber, welche voranging und nachfolgte, rief und sprach: Hosanna dem Sohne Davids! Gesegnet der da kommt im Namen des Herrn! Vergl. Ps. 118,26 Hosanna in der Höhe! Eig. in den höchsten (Örtern).

10 Und als er in Jerusalem hineingekommen, ward die ganze Stadt bewegt und sprach: Wer ist dieser?

11 Die Volksmenge aber sagte: Dieser ist Jesus, der Prophet, der von Nazareth in Galiläa.

1 And when they were nigh to Jerusalem, and had come to Bethphage by the mountain of the olivetrees, then the Jesus sent away two disciples, saying to them:

2 You may go to the village the over against you, and immediately you will find an ass having been bound, and a foal with her; having loosed bring to me.

3 And if any (one) to you should say any (thing), you shall say: That the lord of them need has; immediately and he will need them.

4 This and all has been done, that might be fulfilled the word spoken through the prophets, saying:

5 Say to the daughter of Zion: Lo, the king of thee comes to thee meek, and having been set on an ass, even a foal a son of a beast of burden.

6 Having gone and the disciples, and having done as commanded to them the Jesus,

7 they led the ass and the foal, and they placed upon them the mantles of them; and they caused to sit on (one) of them.

8 The and greater crowd spread of themselves the mantles in the way; others and cut off branches from the trees, and scattered in the way.

9 The and crowds those going before and those following did cry, saying: Hosanna to the son of David; worthy of blessing he coming in name of Lord; hosanna in the highest.

10 And having entered of them into Jerusalem, was moved all the city, saying: Who is this?

11 The and crowds said: This is Jesus the prophet, that from Nazareth of the Galilee.
