14 Therefore since the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same things, in order that through death He might destroy the [one] having the power of death, that is, the devil,
15 and that He might set free these, as many as by fear of death through all of their lives, were subject to bondage.
21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving behind an example for you, that you should follow in His footsteps,
22 "Who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth";
23 who, being verbally abused, did not return verbal insults, when [He] suffered, [He] did not threaten, but committed [Himself] to Him who judges righteously;
24 who Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, in order that having died to sins, we might live unto righteousness-by whose stripes you were healed.
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself, becoming obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
38 Then Jesus said to them, "My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with Me."
21 From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go off to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and to be killed, and to be raised the third day.
55 Now the chief priests and the whole council were seeking testimony against Jesus, in order to put Him to death, but found none.
17 Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it [up ]again.
18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it [up ]again. This command I have received from My Father."
45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life[ ]a ransom for many."
