Maria

34 Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother, "This child is destined to cause many in Israel to fall or rise. He will be a sign that will be disputed,

35 so that the inner thoughts of many people might be revealed. Indeed, a sword will pierce your own soul, too."

19 but Mary continued to treasure in her heart all these things and to ponder them.

26 Now in the sixth month of her pregnancy, the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth,

27 to a virgin engaged to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary.

28 The angel came to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you!"

55 This is the builder's son, isn't it? His mother is named Mary, isn't she? His brothers are James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas, aren't they?

56 And his sisters are all with us, aren't they? So where did this man get all these things?"

3 When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to him, "They don't have any wine."

4 Jesus said to her,"How does that concern us, woman? My hour has not yet come."

5 His mother told the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."

48 When his parents saw him, they were shocked. His mother asked him, "Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been worried sick looking for you!"

49 He said to them,"Why were you looking for me? Didn't you know that I had to be in my Father's house?"

50 But they did not understand what he said to them.

51 Then he went down with them and returned to Nazareth; and he remained in submission to them. His mother continued to treasure all these things in her heart.

31 Then his mother and his brothers arrived. They stood outside and sent word to him and called for him.

32 A crowd was sitting around him. They said to him, "Look! Your mother and your brothers are outside asking for you."

33 He answered them,"Who are my mother and my brothers?"

34 Then looking at the people sitting around him, he said,"Here are my mother and my brothers!

35 For whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother."

46 Then Mary said, "My soul praises the greatness of the Lord!

47 My spirit exults in God, my Savior,

48 for he has looked favorably on his humble servant. From now on, all generations will call me blessed,

49 because the Almighty has done great things for me.His name is holy.

50 His mercy lasts from generation to generationfor those who fear him.

51 He displayed his mighty power with his arm. He scattered people who were proud in mind and heart.

52 He pulled powerful rulers from their thronesand lifted up humble people.

53 He filled hungry people with good thingsand sent rich people away with nothing.

54 He helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful,

55 according to the promise he made to our ancestors—to Abraham and his descendants forever."

18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ happened in this way. When his mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, before they lived together she was discovered to be pregnant by the Holy Spirit.

30 Then the angel told her, "Stop being afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

31 Listen! You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you are to name him Jesus.

32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his forefather David.

33 He will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will never end."

4 Joseph, too, went up from the city of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was a descendant of the household and family of David.

5 He went there to be registered with Mary, who had been promised to him in marriage and was pregnant.

6 While they were there, the time came for her to have her baby,

7 and she gave birth to her first child, a son. She wrapped him in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was not any room for them in the inn.

14 With one mind all of them kept devoting themselves to prayer, along with the women, including Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.

25 Meanwhile, standing near Jesus’ cross were his mother, his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

26 When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he kept loving standing there, he said to his mother,"Woman, here is your son."

27 Then he said to the disciple,"Here is your mother." And from that hour the disciple took her into his own home.
