I FIGLIUOLI di Giuda furono Fares, ed Hesron, e Carmi, ed Hur, e Sobal. 
E Reaia, figliuolo di Sobal, generò Iahat; e Iahat generò Ahumai e Lahad. Queste son le famiglie de’ Soratei. 
E questi furono figliuoli del padre di Etam, cioè: Izreel, ed Isma, ed Idbas: e il nome della lor sorella era Haslelponi. 
E Penuel fu padre di Ghedor, ed Ezer padre di Husa. Questi furono i figliuoli di Hur, promigenito di Efrat, padre di Bet-lehem. 
Ed Ashur, padre di Tecoa, ebbe due mogli: Helea e Naara. 
E Naara gli partorì Ahuzzam, e Hefer, e Temeni, ed Ahastari. Questi furono figliuoli di Naara. 
Ed i figliuoli di Helea furono Seret, Iesohar, Etnan, 
e Cos, il quale generò Anub, e Sobeba, e le famiglie di Aharhel, figliuolo di Harum. 
E Iabes fu il più onorato de’ suoi fratelli; or sua madre gli pose nome Iabes, perciocchè disse: Io l’ho partorito con dolore. 
Or Iabes invocò l’Iddio d’Israele, dicendo: Oh! se pur mi benedicessi, ed allargassi i miei confini, e fosse la tua mano meco, e facessi che io non fossi afflitto d’alcun male! E Iddio fece avvenire ciò ch’egli avea chiesto 
E Chelub, fratello di Suha, generò Mehir, che fu padre di Eston. 
Ed Eston generò la famiglia di Rafa, e Pasea, e Tehinna, padre della città di Nahas. Questi furono la gente di Reca. 
Ed i figliuoli di Chenaz furono Otniel e Seraia. Ed i figliuoli di Otniel furono Hatat, 
e Meonotai, il quale generò Ofra; e Semia generò Ioab, padre di coloro che abitarono nella valle, detta dei fabbri; perciocchè essi erano fabbri. 
Ed i figliuoli di Caleb, figliuolo di Gefunne, furono Iru, Ela, e Naam. E il figliuolo di Ela fu Chenaz. 
Ed i figliuoli di Iehalleleel furono Zif, e Zifa, Tiria, ed Asareel. 
Ed i figliuoli di Esdra furono Ieter, e Mered, ed Efer, e Ialon; e la moglie di Mered partorì Miriam, e Sammai, ed Isba, padre di Estemoa. 
E l’altra sua moglie Giudea partorì Iered, padre di Ghedor; ed Heber, padre di Soco; e Iecutiel, padre di Zanoa. Ma quegli altri precedenti furono figliuoli di Bitia, figliuola di Faraone, la quale Mered avea presa per moglie. 
E questi ultimi furono figliuoli della moglie Giudea, la quale era sorella di Naham, padre de’ Garmei, abitanti in Cheila; e de’ Maacatiti, abitanti in Estemoa. 
E i figliuoli di Simone furono Amnon e Rinna; Ben-hanan e Tilon. Ed i figliuoli d’Isi furono Zobet e Ben-zohet. 
I figliuoli di Sela, figliuolo di Giuda, furono Er, padre di Lecha; e Lada, padre di Maresa; e le famiglie della casa di Asbea, la quale esercitava l’arte del bisso; 
e Iochim, e que’ di Cozeba, e Ioas, e Saraf, i quali signoreggiarono sopra Moab; e Iasubi-lehem. Ma queste cose sono antiche. 
Essi furono vasellai; ed uomini che stavano ne’ giardini e ne’ parchi; e dimorarono quivi appresso del re per fare il suo lavoro 
I FIGLIUOLI di Simeone furono Nemuel, e Iamin, Iarib, Zera e Saulle; 
di cui fu figliuolo Sallum di cui fu figliuolo Mibsam, di cui fu figliuolo Misma. 
E il figliuolo di Misma fu Hamuel, di cui fu figliuolo Zaccur, di cui fu figliuolo Simi. 
E Simi ebbe sedici figliuoli e sei figliuole; ma i suoi fratelli non ebbero molti figliuoli; talchè tutta la lor nazione non moltiplicò al pari de’ figliuoli di Giuda. 
Ed abitarono in Beerseba, ed in Molada, ed in Hasar-sual, 
ed in Bilha, ed in Esem, ed in Tolad, 
ed in Betuel, ed in Horma, ed in Siclag, ed in Bet-marcabot, 
ed in Hasar-susim, ed in Bet-birei ed in Saaraim. Queste furono le lor città mentre regnò Davide. 
E le lor castella furono Etam, ed Ain; Rimmon, e Tochen, ed Asan, cinque terre; 
insieme con tutte le loro villate, ch’erano intorno a quelle città, fino a Baal. Queste furono le loro stanze, come essi le spartirono fra loro per le lor nazioni. 
Or Mesobab, e Iamlec, e Iosa, figliuolo di Amasia; 
e Ioel, e Iehu, figliuolo di Iosibia, figliuolo di Seraia, figliuolo di Asiel; 
ed Elioenai, e Iaacoba, e Iesohaia, ed Asaia, ed Adiel, e Iesimiel, e Benaia; 
e Ziza, figliuolo di Sifi, figliuolo di Allon, figliuolo di Iedaia, figliuolo di Simri, figliuolo di Semaia; 
costoro furono quelli ch’erano famosi, capi nelle lor famiglie; e le case loro paterne crebbero in grandissimo numero. 
Laonde andarono dall’entrata di Ghedor, fino alla parte orientale della valle, per cercar paschi per i lor bestiami. 
E trovarono de’ paschi grassi e buoni, ed un paese largo, quieto e felice; perciocchè quelli che vi abitavano prima eran de’ discendenti di Cam. 
Costoro adunque, che sono stati descritti per i nomi loro, vennero al tempo di Ezechia, re di Giuda, e percossero le tende di coloro, e gli abitacoli che vi furono ritrovati; e li distrussero a modo dell’interdetto; e così son restati fino a questo giorno, ed abitarono in luogo loro; perciocchè quivi erano paschi per le lor gregge. 
Oltre a ciò, cinquecento uomini d’infra loro, de’ figliuoli di Simeone, avendo per lor capi Pelatia, e Nearia, e Refaia, ed Uzziel, figliuoli d’Isi, andarono al monte di Seir. 
E percossero il rimanente degli scampati d’infra gli Amalechiti; e sono abitati quivi infino a questo giorno 

Sons of Judah: Pharez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal. 
And Reaiah son of Shobal begat Jahath, and Jahath begat Ahumai and Lahad; these [are] families of the Zorathite. 
And these [are] of the father of Etam: Jezreel, and Ishma, and Idbash; and the name of their sister [is] Hazzelelponi, 
and Penuel [is] father of Gedor, and Ezer father of Hushah. These [are] sons of Hur, first-born of Ephratah, father of Beth-Lehem. 
And to Ashhur father of Tekoa were two wives, Helah and Naarah; 
and Naarah beareth to him Ahuzzam, and Hepher, and Temeni, and Haahashtari: these [are] sons of Naarah. 
And sons of Helah: Zereth, and Zohar, and Ethnan. 
And Coz begat Anub, and Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel son of Harum. 
And Jabez is honoured above his brethren, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, `Because I have brought forth with grief.` 
And Jabez calleth to the God of Israel, saying, `If blessing Thou dost bless me, then Thou hast made great my border, and Thy hand hath been with me, and Thou hast kept [me] from evil -- not to grieve me;` and God bringeth in that which he asked. 
And Chelub brother of Shuah begat Mehir; he [is] father of Eshton. 
And Eshton begat Beth-Rapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah father of Ir-Nahash; these [are] men of Rechah. 
And sons of Kenaz: Othniel, and Seraiah; and sons of Othniel: Hathath. 
And Meonothai begat Ophrah, and Seraiah begat Joab father of the valley of artificers, for they were artificers. 
And sons of Caleb son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam; and sons of Elah, even Kenaz. 
And sons of Jehaleleel: Ziph and Ziphah, Tiria, and Asareel. 
And sons of Ezra [are] Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon: and she beareth Miriam, and Shammai, and Ishbah father of Eshtemoa. 
And his wife Jehudijah bare Jered father of Gedor, and Heber father of Socho, and Jekuthiel father of Zanoah. And these [are] sons of Bithiah daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered took, 
and sons of the wife of Hodiah sister of Nahom: Abi-Keilah the Garmite, and Eshtemoa the Maachathite. 
And sons of Shimon [are] Amnon, and Rinnah, Ben-Hanon, and Tilon; and sons of Ishi: Zoheth, and Ben-Zoheth. 
Sons of Shelah son of Judah: Er father of Lecah, and Laadah father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of the service of fine linen, of the house of Ashbea; 
and Jokim, and the men of Chozeba, and Joash, and Saraph, who ruled over Moab and Jashubi-Lehem; and these things [are] ancient. 
They [are] the potters and inhabitants of Netaim and Gedera; with the king in his work they dwelt there. 
Sons of Simeon: Nemuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Shaul; 
Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son. 
And sons of Mishma: Hammuel his son, Zacchur his son, Shimei his son. 
And to Shimei [are] sixteen sons and six daughters, and to his brethren there are not many sons, and none of their families have multiplied as much as the sons of Judah. 
And they dwell in Beer-Sheba, and Moladah, and Hazar-Shaul, 
and in Bilhah, and in Ezem, and in Tolad, 
and in Bethuel, and in Hormah, and in Ziklag, 
and in Beth-Marcaboth, and in Hazar-Susim, and in Beth-Birei, and in Shaarim; these [are] their cities till the reigning of David. 
And their villages [are] Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, five cities, 
and all their villages that [are] round about these cities unto Baal; these [are] their dwellings, and they have their genealogy: 
even Meshobab, and Jamlech, and Joshah son of Amaziah, 
and Joel, and Jehu son of Josibiah, son of Seraiah, son of Asiel, 
and Elioenai, and Jaakobah, and Jeshohaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and Jesimiel, and Benaiah, 
and Ziza son of Shiphi, son of Allon, son of Jedaiah, son of Shimri, son of Shemaiah. 
These who are coming in by name [are] princes in their families, and the house of their fathers have broken forth into a multitude; 
and they go to the entrance of Gedor, unto the east of the valley, to seek pasture for their flock, 
and they find pasture, fat and good, and the land broad of sides, and quiet, and safe, for of Ham are those dwelling there before. 
And these who are written by name come in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and smite their tents, and the habitations that have been found there, and devote them to destruction unto this day, and dwell in their stead, because pasture for their flock [is] there. 
And of them, of the sons of Simeon, there have gone to mount Seir, five hundred men, and Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah, and Uzziel, sons of Ishi, at their head, 
and they smite the remnant of those escaped of Amalek, and dwell there unto this day.
