ORA, quando Giosuè fu diventato vecchio ed attempato, il Signore disse: Tu sei diventato vecchio ed attempato, e vi resta ancora molto gran paese a conquistare. 
Quest’è il paese che resta: tutte le contrade de’ Filistei, e tutto il paese de’ Ghesuriti; 
da Sihor, che è a fronte all’Egitto, fino a’ confini di Ecron, verso Settentrione, il paese è riputato de’ Cananei; cioè: i cinque principati de’ Filistei, quel di Gaza, quel di Asdod, quel di Ascalon, quel di Gat, e quel di Ecron, e gli Avvei; 
dal Mezzodì, tutto il paese de’ Cananei, e Meara, che è de’ Sidonii, fino ad Afec, fino a’ confini degli Amorrei; 
e il paese de’ Ghiblei, e tutto il Libano, dal Sol levante, da Baal-gad, che è sotto il monte di Hermon, fino all’entrata di Hamat; 
tutti gli abitanti del monte, dal Libano fino alle Acque calde; e tutti i Sidonii. Io li caccerò dal cospetto dei figliuoli d’Israele; spartisci pur questo paese a sorte ad Israele per eredità, come io t’ho comandato 
Ora dunque spartisci questo paese a nove tribù, e alla metà della tribù di Manasse, in eredità. 
I Rubeniti, e i Gaditi, con l’altra metà della tribù di Manasse, hanno ricevuta la loro eredità, la quale Mosè ha data loro, di là dal Giordano, verso Oriente; secondo che Mosè, servitor del Signore, l’ha data loro; 
da Aroer, che è in sulla riva del torrente di Arnon, e la città che è in mezzo del torrente, e tutta la pianura di Medeba, fino a Dibon; 
e tutte le città di Sihon, re degli Amorrei, il qual regnò in Hesbon, fino a’ confini dei figliuoli di Ammon; 
e Galaad, e le contrade de’ Ghesuriti, e de’ Maacatiti, e tutto il monte di Hermon, e tutto Basan, fino a Salca; 
tutto il regno d’Og in Basan, il qual regnò in Astarot, e in Edrei, ed era restato del rimanente dei Rafei; Mosè percosse questi re, e li scacciò. 
Or i figliuoli d’Israele non cacciarono i Ghesuriti, nè i Maacatiti; anzi i Ghesuriti ed i Maacatiti son dimorati per mezzo Israele fino al dì d’oggi. 
Solo alla tribù di Levi Mosè non diede alcuna eredità; i sacrificii da ardere del Signore Iddio d’Israele son la sua eredità, come egli ne ha parlato. 
Mosè adunque diede eredità alla tribù de’ figliuoli di Ruben, secondo le lor nazioni. 
E i lor confini furono da Aroer, che è in su la riva del torrente di Arnon, e la città che è in mezzo del torrente, e tutta la pianura fino a Medeba; 
Hesbon, e tutte le sue città che son nella pianura; Dibon, e Bamot-baal, e Bet-baal-meon; 
e Iasa, e Chedemot, e Mefaat; 
e Chiriataim, e Sibma, e Seret-sahar, nel monte della valle; 
e Bet-peor, e Asdot-pisga, e Bet-iesimot; 
e tutte le città della pianura, e tutto il regno di Sihon, re degli Amorrei, che avea regnato in Hesbon, il qual Mosè percosse, insieme co’ principi di Madian, Evi, e Rechem, e Sur, e Hur, e Reba, ch’erano principi vassalli di Sihon, e abitavano nel paese. 
I figliuoli d’Israele uccisero ancora con la spada Balaam, figliuolo di Beor, indovino, insieme con gli altri uccisi d’infra i Madianiti. 
E i confini de’ figliuoli di Ruben furono il Giordano e i confini. Questa fu l’eredità de’ figliuoli di Ruben, secondo le lor nazioni, cioè: quelle città e le lor villate. 
Mosè diede ancora eredità alla tribù di Gad, a’ figliuoli di Gad, secondo le lor nazioni. 
E la lor contrada fu Iaser, e tutte le città di Galaad, e la metà del paese de’ figliuoli di Ammon, fino ad Aroer, che è a fronte a Rabba; 
e da Hesbon fino a Ramatmispe, e Betonim; e da Mahanaim fino a’ confini di Debir; 
e nella valle, Bet-haram, e Bet-nimra, e Succot, e Safon, il rimanente del regno di Sihon, re di Hesbon; lungo il Giordano e i confini, infino all’estremità del mare di Chinneret, di là dal Giordano, verso Oriente. 
Questa fu l’eredità dei figliuoli di Gad, secondo le lor nazioni, cioè: quelle città e le lor villate. 
Mosè diede ancora eredità alla metà della tribù di Manasse: quella fu per la metà della tribù de’ figliuoli di Manasse, secondo le lor nazioni. 
La lor contrada fu da Mahanaim, tutto Basan, tutto il regno d’Og, re di Basan, e tutte le villate di Iair, che sono in Basan, che sono sessanta terre; 
e la metà di Galaad, e Astarot, ed Edrei, città del regno d’Og, in Basan. Tutto ciò fu dato a’ figliuoli di Machir, figliuolo di Manasse, cioè: alla metà de’ figliuoli di Machir, secondo le lor nazioni. 
Queste son le contrade che Mosè diede per eredità, nelle campagne di Moab, di là dal Giordano di Gerico, verso Oriente. 
Ma egli non diede alcuna eredità ai figliuoli di Levi; il Signore Iddio d’Israele è la loro eredità, come egli ne ha lor parlato 

And Joshua is old, entering into days, and Jehovah saith unto him, `Thou hast become aged, thou hast entered into days; as to the land, very much hath been left to possess. 
`This [is] the land that is left; all the circuits of the Philistines, and all Geshuri, 
from Sihor which [is] on the front of Egypt, and unto the border of Ekron northward, to the Canaanite it is reckoned, five princes of the Philistines, the Gazathite, and the Ashdothite, the Eshkalonite, the Gittite, and the Ekronite, also the Avim. 
`From the south, all the land of the Canaanite, and Mearah, which [is] to the Sidonians, unto Aphek, unto the border of the Amorite; 
and the land of the Giblite, and all Lebanon, at the sun-rising, from Baal-Gad under mount Hermon, unto the going in to Hamath: 
all the inhabitants of the hill-country, from Lebanon unto Misrephoth-Maim, all the Sidonians: I -- I dispossess them before the sons of Israel; only, cause it to fall to Israel for an inheritance, as I have commanded thee. 
`And now, apportion this land for an inheritance to the nine tribes, and the half of the tribe of Manasseh,` -- 
with it the Reubenite, and the Gadite, have received their inheritance, which Moses hath given to them beyond the Jordan eastward, as Moses servant of Jehovah hath given to them; 
from Aroer, which [is] on the edge of the brook Arnon, and the city which [is] in the midst of the brook, and all the plain of Medeba unto Dihon, 
and all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorite, who reigned in Heshbon, unto the border of the Bene-Ammon, 
and Gilead, and the border of the Geshurite, and of the Maachathite, and all mount Hermon, and all Bashan unto Salcah; 
all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei; he was left of the remnant of the Rephaim, and Moses doth smite them, and dispossess them; 
and the sons of Israel dispossessed not the Geshurite, and the Maachathite; and Geshur and Maachath dwell in the midst of Israel unto this day. 
Only, to the tribe of Levi he hath not given an inheritance; fire-offerings of Jehovah, God of Israel, is its inheritance, as He hath spoken to it. 
And Moses giveth to the tribe of the sons of Reuben, for their families; 
and the border is to them from Aroer, which [is] on the edge of the brook Arnon, and the city which [is] in the midst of the brook, and all the plain by Medeba, 
Heshbon, and all its cities which [are] in the plain, Dibon, and Bamoth-Baal, and Beth-Baal-Meon, 
and Jahazah, and Kedemoth, and Mephaath, 
and Kirjathaim, and Sibmah, and Zareth-Shahar, in the mount of the valley, 
and Beth-Peor, and the springs of Pisgah, and Beth-Jeshimoth, 
and all the cities of the plain, and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorite, who reigned in Heshbon, whom Moses smote, with the princes of Midian, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, princes of Sihon, inhabitants of the land. 
And Balaam, son of Beor, the diviner, have the sons of Israel slain with the sword, among their wounded ones. 
And the border of the sons of Reuben is the Jordan, and [its] border; this [is] the inheritance of the sons of Reuben, for their families, the cities and their villages. 
And Moses giveth to the tribe of Gad, to the sons of Gad, for their families; 
and the border is to them Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead, and the half of the land of the Bene-Ammon, unto Aroer which [is] on the front of Rabbah, 
and from Heshbon unto Ramath-Mispeh, and Betonim, and from Mahanaim unto the border of Debir, 
and in the valley, Beth-Aram, and Beth-Nimrah, and Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, the Jordan and [its] border, unto the extremity of the sea of Chinnereth, beyond the Jordan, eastward. 
This [is] the inheritance of the sons of Gad, for their families, the cities and their villages. 
And Moses giveth to the half of the tribe of Manasseh; and it is to the half of the tribe of the sons of Manasseh, for their families. 
And their border is from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the small towns of Jair, which [are] in Bashan, sixty cities; 
and the half of Gilead, and Ashteroth, and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, [are] to the sons of Machir, son of Manasseh, to the half of the sons of Machir, for their families. 
These [are] they whom Moses caused to inherit in the plains of Moab, beyond the Jordan, [by] Jericho, eastward; 
and to the tribe of Levi Moses gave not an inheritance; Jehovah, God of Israel, Himself [is] their inheritance, as He hath spoken to them.
