1 Salmo di Asaf CERTAMENTE Iddio è buono ad Israele, A quelli che son puri di cuore.
2 Ora, quant’è a me, quasi che incapparono i miei piedi; Come nulla mancò che i miei passi non isdrucciolassero.
3 Perciocchè io portava invidia agl’insensati, Veggendo la prosperità degli empi.
4 Perciocchè non vi sono alcuni legami alla lor morte; E la lor forza è prosperosa.
5 Quando gli altri uomini sono in travagli, essi non vi son punto; E non ricevono battiture col rimanente degli uomini.
6 Perciò, la superbia li cinge a guisa di collana; La violenza li involge come un vestimento.
7 Gli occhi escono loro fuori per lo grasso; Avanzano le immaginazioni del cuor loro.
8 Son dissoluti, e per malizia ragionano di oppressare; Parlano da alto.
9 Mettono la lor bocca dentro al cielo, E la lor lingua passeggia per la terra.
10 Perciò, il popolo di Dio riviene a questo, Veggendo che l’acqua gli è spremuta a bere a pien calice,
11 E dice: Come può essere che Iddio sappia ogni cosa, E che vi sia conoscimento nell’Altissimo?
12 Ecco, costoro son empi, e pur godono pace e tranquillità in perpetuo; Ed accrescono le lor facoltà.
13 Indarno adunque in vero ho nettato il mio cuore, Ed ho lavate le mie mani nell’innocenza.
14 Poichè son battuto tuttodì, Ed ogni mattina il mio gastigamento si rinnuova
15 Se io dico: Io ragionerò così; Ecco, io son disleale inverso la generazione de’ tuoi figliuoli.
16 Io ho adunque pensato di volere intender questo; Ma la cosa mi è parsa molto molesta.
17 Infino a tanto che sono entrato ne’ santuari di Dio; Ed ho considerato il fine di coloro.
18 Certo, tu li metti in isdruccioli; Tu li trabocchi in ruine.
19 Come sono eglino stati distrutti in un momento! Come son venuti meno, e sono stati consumati per casi spaventevoli!
20 Son come un sogno, dopo che l’uomo si è destato; O Signore, quando tu ti risveglierai, tu sprezzerai la lor vana apparenza
21 Quando il mio cuore era inacerbito, Ed io era punto nelle reni;
22 Io era insensato, e non aveva conoscimento; Io era inverso te simile alle bestie.
23 Ma pure io sono stato del continuo teco; Tu mi hai preso per la man destra.
24 Tu mi condurrai per lo tuo consiglio, E poi mi riceverai in gloria;
25 Chi è per me in cielo, fuor che te? Io non voglio altri che te in terra.
26 La mia carne ed il mio cuore erano venuti meno: Ma Iddio è la rocca del mio cuore, e la mia parte in eterno.
27 Perciocchè, ecco, quelli che si allontanano da te periranno; Tu distruggerai ogni uomo che fornicando si svia da te.
28 Ma quant’è a me, egli mi è buono di accostarmi a Dio; Io ho posta nel Signore Iddio la mia confidanza, Per raccontar tutte le opere sue
1 A Psalm of Asaph. Only -- good to Israel [is] God, to the clean of heart. And I -- as a little thing, My feet have been turned aside,
2 As nothing, have my steps slipped, For I have been envious of the boastful,
3 The peace of the wicked I see, That there are no bands at their death,
4 And their might [is] firm.
5 In the misery of mortals they are not, And with common men they are not plagued.
6 Therefore hath pride encircled them, Violence covereth them as a dress.
7 Their eye hath come out from fat. The imaginations of the heart transgressed;
8 They do corruptly, And they speak in the wickedness of oppression, From on high they speak.
9 They have set in the heavens their mouth, And their tongue walketh in the earth.
10 Therefore do His people return hither, And waters of fulness are wrung out to them.
11 And they have said, `How hath God known? And is there knowledge in the Most High?`
12 Lo, these [are] the wicked and easy ones of the age, They have increased strength.
13 Only -- a vain thing! I have purified my heart, And I wash in innocency my hands,
14 And I am plagued all the day, And my reproof [is] every morning.
15 If I have said, `I recount thus,` Lo, a generation of Thy sons I have deceived.
16 And I think to know this, Perverseness it [is] in mine eyes,
17 Till I come in to the sanctuaries of God, I attend to their latter end.
18 Only, in slippery places Thou dost set them, Thou hast caused them to fall to desolations.
19 How have they become a desolation as in a moment, They have been ended -- consumed from terrors.
20 As a dream from awakening, O Lord, In awaking, their image Thou despisest.
21 For my heart doth show itself violent, And my reins prick themselves,
22 And I am brutish, and do not know. A beast I have been with Thee.
23 And I [am] continually with Thee, Thou hast laid hold on my right hand.
24 With Thy counsel Thou dost lead me, And after honour dost receive me.
25 Whom have I in the heavens? And with Thee none I have desired in earth.
26 Consumed hath been my flesh and my heart, The rock of my heart and my portion [is] God to the age.
27 For, lo, those far from Thee do perish, Thou hast cut off every one, Who is going a whoring from Thee.
28 And I -- nearness of God to me [is] good, I have placed in the Lord Jehovah my refuge, To recount all Thy works!
