18 Wives, be subject to your own husbands as it is fit in the Lord.
19 Husbands, love [your] wives and do not be bitter against them.
9 And Onan knew that the seed would not be his, and it came to pass when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he corrupted [it] on the ground, to not give seed to his brother.
10 And the thing which he did displeased the LORD, and he slew him also.
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air and over the beasts and over all the earth and over every serpent that moves upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air and over every beast that moves upon the earth.
24 And David comforted Bathsheba, his wife, and went in unto her and lay with her; and she gave birth to a son, and he called his name Solomon; and the LORD loved him.
7 They shall not take a wife [that is] a whore or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband; for he [is] holy unto his God.
3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence, and likewise also the wife unto the husband.
4 The wife does not have authority of her own body, but the husband; and likewise also the husband does not have authority of his own body, but the wife.
14 And above all these things [put on] charity, which is the bond of perfection.
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, into which likewise ye are called into one body, and be ye thankful.
16 Let the word of the Christ dwell in you in abundance in all wisdom, teaching you and exhorting you one to another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with grace singing in your hearts unto the Lord.
17 And whatever ye do whether in word or deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to the God and Father by him.
14 House and riches [are] the inheritance from fathers, but the prudent wife [is] from the LORD.
4 Let Marriage [be] honourable in all and the bed undefiled; but the fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
4 Let Marriage [be] honourable in all and the bed undefiled; but the fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
4 Let Marriage [be] honourable in all and the bed undefiled; but the fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
15 See that no one renders evil for evil unto anyone, but always follow that which is good, both among yourselves and to all [men].
27 They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
3 Thy wife [shall be] as a fruitful vine by the sides of thy house; thy children like olive plants round about thy table.
6 His left hand [is] under my head, and his right hand embraces me.
2 Contend with your mother, contend: for she [is] not my wife, neither [am] I her husband: let her therefore remove her whoredoms from her face and her adulteries from between her breasts;
18 Flee fornication. Any [other] sin that a man does is outside the body, but he that commits fornication sins against his own body.
19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit [who is] in you, whom ye have of God, and that ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price, therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.:
21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept; and he took one of his sides and closed up the flesh in its place;
22 and the LORD God built [that] which he had taken from the side of the man into a woman and brought her unto the man.
23 And the man said, This [is] now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman because she was taken out of Man.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife; and they shall be one flesh.
2 For the woman who is subject to a husband is obligated to the law so long as the husband lives; but if the husband dies, she is free from the law of the husband.
3 So then if, while [her] husband lives, she belongs to another man, she shall be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from that law so that she is no adulteress if she belongs to another man.
25 Husbands, love your wives even as the Christ also loved the church and gave himself for her,
26 that he might sanctify and cleanse her in the washing of water by the word,
27 that he might present her glorious for himself, a church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.
28 So ought husbands to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loves his wife loves himself.
29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it even as the Lord with his church:
30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy.
3 But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not be once named among you as becomes saints,
31 It was also said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a bill of divorce;
32 but I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, except for the cause of fornication, causes her to commit adultery; and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced commits adultery.
4 Charity suffers long [and] is benign; charity envies not; charity does [nothing] without due reason, is not puffed up,
5 is not injurious, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil,
6 rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
2 Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication, let every [man] have his own wife, and let every [woman] have her own husband.
6 Therefore they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.
4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he who made [them] at the beginning made them male and female?
5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and they shall be two in one flesh.
6 Therefore they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.
1 Rejoice, O barren, thou [that] didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud with joy, thou [that] didst not travail with child: for more [shall be] the sons of the desolate than the sons of the married wife, said the LORD.
28 So ought husbands to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loves his wife loves himself.
29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it even as the Lord with his church:
30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
1 And the man knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain and said, I have gained a man by the LORD.
25 And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and called his name Seth; for God, [said she], has appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.
36 Thus hath the Lord GOD said: Because thy nakedness has been uncovered, and thy confusion has been manifested to thy lovers in thy whoredoms and to the idols of thy abominations and in the blood of thy children which thou didst give unto them;
37 therefore, behold that I will gather all thy lovers, with whom thou hast taken pleasure and all [those] that thou hast loved, with all [those] that thou hast hated; I will even gather them round about against thee and will uncover thy nakedness unto them, that they may see all thy nakedness.
36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser; she was of a great age and had lived with [her] husband seven years from her virginity,
21 But Abijah waxed mighty and married fourteen wives, and begat twenty-two sons and sixteen daughters.
10 for fornicators, for homosexuals, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine,
21 And they did not repent of their murders nor of their witchcraft nor of their fornication nor of their thefts.:
1 Now concerning the things of which ye wrote unto me: [It is] good for a man not to touch a woman.
2 Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication, let every [man] have his own wife, and let every [woman] have her own husband.
2 Oh! if he would kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! for thy love [is] better than wine.
1 Now Sarai Abram's wife bore him no children; and she had a handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name [was] Hagar.
2 And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the LORD has restrained me from bearing; I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.
3 And Sarai, Abram's wife, took Hagar, her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.
22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husband, as unto the Lord.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as the Christ is head of the church, and it is he who gives saving health to the body.
24 Therefore, as the church is subject unto the Christ, so [let] the wives [be] to their own husbands in everything.
3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence, and likewise also the wife unto the husband.
4 The wife does not have authority of her own body, but the husband; and likewise also the husband does not have authority of his own body, but the wife.
5 Do not defraud one another, except [it be] with [mutual] consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer and come together again, that Satan not tempt you for your incontinency.
8 I say, therefore, to the unmarried [men] and widowers, It is good for them if they abide even as I.
9 But if they do not have [the gift of] continence, let them marry, for it is better to marry than to burn.
10 And unto the married I command, [yet] not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife separate from [her] husband;
11 and if she separates, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to [her] husband, and let not the husband put away [his] wife.
31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother and shall be joined unto his wife, and they shall be two in one flesh.
32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
33 Nevertheless, let each one of you do likewise, let each one so love his wife even as himself, and let the wife [see] that she reverences [her] husband.:
14 And above all these things [put on] charity, which is the bond of perfection.
8 When thou art called to a wedding by anyone, do not sit down in the highest place, lest a more honourable man than thou be invited of him,
29 So [is] he that goes in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever touches her shall not be innocent.
13 When any man takes a wife and after having gone in unto her, hates her
14 and gives occasions of speech against her and brings up an evil name upon her and says, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a virgin,
15 then shall the father of the damsel and her mother take and bring forth [the tokens of] the damsel's virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate.
16 And the damsel's father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man to wife, and he hates her;
17 and, behold, he has given occasions of speech [against her], saying, I found not thy daughter a virgin; and yet these [are the tokens of] my daughter's virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
4 And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorce and to put [her] away.
5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this commandment.
6 But at the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall join to his wife;
8 and they that [were] two shall be made one flesh, so then they are no longer two, but one flesh.
9 Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.
2 The beginning of the word of the LORD with Hosea. And the LORD said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land shall give itself over to whoredom [by] departing from the LORD.
10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD; my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he has clothed me with the garments of saving health; he has surrounded me with the robe of righteousness; as a bridegroom he has arrayed me, and as a bride made up of his jewels.
9 [It is] better to dwell in a corner of the housetop than with a brawling woman in a wide house.
22 [Whosoever] found a wife found a good [thing] and has attained the favour of the LORD.
22 [Whosoever] found a wife found a good [thing] and has attained the favour of the LORD.
22 [Whosoever] found a wife found a good [thing] and has attained the favour of the LORD.
7 Thou [art] all fair, my love; [there is] no spot in thee.
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]: Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like; which I denounce, as I have also told [you] in time past that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
10 Jesus, lifting himself up and seeing no one but the woman, said unto her, Woman, where are thine accusers? Has no one condemned thee?
11 And she said, No one, Lord. Then Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee; go and sin no more.
14 Turn, O rebellious sons, said the LORD; for I am your Lord, and I will take you one of a city and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:
6 He who is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children who can not be accused of dissoluteness, nor insubordinate.
39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is free [and may] be married to whom she will, if it is in the Lord.
10 And the man that commits adultery with [another] man's wife, [he] that commits adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely die.
13 If a man shall join himself with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them.
4 The virtuous woman [is] a crown to her husband, but she that makes ashamed [is] as rottenness in his bones.
5 Thy two breasts [are] like two young roes that are twins, which are fed among the lilies.
9 Thou hast taken hold of my heart, my sister, [my] spouse; thou hast imprisoned my heart with one of thine eyes, with one chain of thy neck.
3 For the will of God is your sanctification, that ye should separate [yourselves] from fornication,
4 that every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honesty,
5 not with affection of lust, as the Gentiles who do not know God,
5 When a man has taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business; [but] he shall be free at home one year and shall cheer up his wife whom he has taken.
1 When a man has taken a wife and married her, and it comes to pass that she finds no favour in his eyes because he has found some indecency in her; then let him write her a bill of divorce and give [it] in her hand and send her out of his house.
5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and they shall be two in one flesh.
6 Therefore they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.
9 The heart of man devises his way, but the LORD directs his steps.
13 And he shall take a wife in her virginity.
14 A widow or a divorced woman or profane [or] a harlot, these he shall not take, but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife.
18 Thy fountain shall be blessed; and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
19 [Let her be as] the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love, [without eyes for anyone else].
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
27 Ye have heard that it was said to the ancients, Thou shalt not commit adultery;
28 but I say unto you, That whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.
22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husband, as unto the Lord.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as the Christ is head of the church, and it is he who gives saving health to the body.
7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with [them] wisely, giving honour unto the woman, as unto a more fragile vessel and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers not be hindered.
7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with [them] wisely, giving honour unto the woman, as unto a more fragile vessel and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers not be hindered.
9 Two [are] better than one because they have a better reward for their labour.
10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him [that is] alone when he falls, for [he has] not another to help him up.
11 Again, if two sleep together, then they have heat, but how can one be warm [alone]?
12 And if one prevails against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
18 And the LORD God said, [It is] not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a help meet for him.
29 And every one that has forsaken houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands for my name's sake shall receive a hundredfold and shall inherit eternal life.
28 So ought husbands to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loves his wife loves himself.
9 Live joyfully with the wife whom thou dost love all the days which thou art to live in this lake of vanity, which are given unto thee; all the days of thy vanity under the sun: for that [is] thy portion in [this] life, and in thy labour in which thou dost work under the sun.
9 Live joyfully with the wife whom thou dost love all the days which thou art to live in this lake of vanity, which are given unto thee; all the days of thy vanity under the sun: for that [is] thy portion in [this] life, and in thy labour in which thou dost work under the sun.
2 for true and righteous [are] his judgments; for he has judged the great whore, who corrupted the earth with her fornication, and has avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.
10 Then he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, behold, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard [it] in the tent door, which [was] behind him.
11 Now Abraham and Sarah [were] old [and] well stricken in age, [and] it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.
12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?
2 It is expedient, therefore, that the bishop be blameless, the husband of [only] one wife, vigilant, temperate, of [worldly] affections mortified, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
12 Let the deacons be the husbands of [only] one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
32 [But] whosoever commits adultery with a woman [has a] fault in [his] heart; he [that] does it corrupts his own soul.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife; and they shall be one flesh.
25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.:
29 This [is] the law of jealousies when a woman goes astray, [being] under the power of her husband, and is defiled;
30 or of the husband upon whom a spirit of jealousy comes, and he is jealous over his wife; he shall [then] present the woman before the LORD, and the priest shall execute in her all this law.
12 And if the woman shall put away her husband and be married to another, she commits adultery.
20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel (who calls herself a prophetess) to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
32 But I would have you without worry. He that is unmarried cares for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord;
33 but he that is married cares for the things that are of the world, how he may please [his] wife.
34 There is [a] difference [also] between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried [woman] cares for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit; but she that is married cares for the things of the world, how she may please [her] husband.
31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother and shall be joined unto his wife, and they shall be two in one flesh.
24 saying, Master, Moses said, If a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up seed unto his brother.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife; and they shall be one flesh.
6 Set me as a seal upon thine heart as a sign upon thine arm; for love [is] strong as death; jealousy [is] hard as Sheol; the coals thereof [are] coals of fire, [which have a] most vehement flame.
7 The many waters cannot quench love, neither can the rivers drown it; if [a] man would give all the substance of his house for this love, it would certainly be despised.
9 Know ye not that the unjust shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not err: neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor effeminate nor homosexuals
10 nor thieves nor covetous nor drunkards nor revilers nor extortioners shall inherit the kingdom of God.
13 Foods [are] for the belly, and the belly for foods; but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body [is] not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.
14 And God, who raised up the Lord, will also raise up us by his own power.
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that [is] thy neighbour's.
8 The nakedness of thy father's wife thou shalt not uncover; it [is thy father's nakedness.
20 Moreover thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour's wife, contaminating thyself with her.
33 Nevertheless, let each one of you do likewise, let each one so love his wife even as himself, and let the wife [see] that she reverences [her] husband.:
33 Nevertheless, let each one of you do likewise, let each one so love his wife even as himself, and let the wife [see] that she reverences [her] husband.:
5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth: fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil lust, and covetousness, which is idolatry;
17 But the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram's wife.
18 And Pharaoh called Abram and said, What [is] this [that] thou hast done unto me? Why didst thou not tell me that she [was] thy wife?
15 And did he not make one, having in himself abundance of [the] Spirit? And why one? That he might seek offspring of God. Therefore take heed to your spirit and let no one deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.
16 He that rejects her, sending her away, said the LORD God of Israel, covers the violence with his garment, said the LORD of the hosts; therefore take heed in your spirit, and do not be treacherous.
7 The many waters cannot quench love, neither can the rivers drown it; if [a] man would give all the substance of his house for this love, it would certainly be despised.
1 It is reported commonly [that there is] fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.
2 And ye are puffed up and have not rather mourned, that he that has done this deed might be taken away from among you.
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers, for what fellowship does righteousness have with unrighteousness? and what communion does light have with darkness?
10 [Aleph] Who can find a valiant woman? for her price [is] far above precious stones.
25 Husbands, love your wives even as the Christ also loved the church and gave himself for her,
26 that he might sanctify and cleanse her in the washing of water by the word,
