24 Therefore, whosoever hears these words of mine and does them, I will liken him unto a prudent man, who built his house upon the rock;
10 The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the holy [is] understanding.
10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers, and there arose another generation after them which did not know the LORD nor the work which he had done to Israel.
13 Take fast hold of chastening; do not let go; keep this; for it [is] thy life.
14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil [men].
16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.:
17 Let the elders that govern well be counted worthy of double honour, especially those who labour in the word and doctrine.
18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treads out the grain. And, The labourer [is] worthy of his reward.
8 My son, hearken unto the chastening of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
9 For they [shall be] an increase of grace unto thy head and protection about thy neck.
20 My son, keep thy father's commandment and forsake not the law of thy mother:
21 Bind them continually upon thine heart [and] tie them about thy neck.
22 When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and [when] thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
23 For the commandment [is] fire, and the law [is] light; and reproofs of chastening [are] the way of life,
16 Let the word of the Christ dwell in you in abundance in all wisdom, teaching you and exhorting you one to another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with grace singing in your hearts unto the Lord.
4 For the things that were written beforehand were written for our instruction that we, through patient [endurance] and through the comfort of the scriptures, might have hope.
1 Maschil of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, [to] my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
2 I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter enigmas of old,
3 which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
4 We will not hide [them] from their sons, showing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD and his strength and his wonderful works that he has done.
23 Above all else, guard thy heart; for out of it flows the [issues of] life.
24 Put away from thee the perversion of the mouth, and the deviation of the lips put far from thee.
25 Let thine eyes look upon that which is right, and let thine eyelids straighten [thy path] before thee.
26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left; remove thy foot from evil.:
14 The law of the wise [is] a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
16 But avoid profane [and] vain wordiness, for it will develop into ungodliness.
17 And that word will eat away as gangrene, of whom are Hymenaeus and Philetus,
1 The proverbs of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel;
2 to know wisdom and chastening; to understand prudent words;
3 to receive the chastening of prudence, justice, judgment, and equity;
4 to give prudence to the simple, and to the young men knowledge and council.
5 If the wise will hear [them], doctrine shall increase, and the man of understanding shall acquire wise counsel:
6 To understand [a] parable and [the] interpretation; the words of the wise and their enigmas.
7 The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of knowledge, [but] fools despise wisdom and chastening.
5 Get wisdom, get understanding; forget [it] not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee; love her, and she shall keep thee.
7 Wisdom [is] the principal thing, [therefore] get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
8 Grow in [wisdom], and she shall promote thee; she shall bring thee to honour when thou hast embraced her.
5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart and with all thy soul and with all thy might.
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be upon thy heart,
7 and thou shalt repeat them diligently unto thy sons and shalt talk of them being in thy house and walking by the way, lying down in bed, and rising up;
9 Whosoever rebels and does not abide in the doctrine of the Christ, does not have God. He that abides in the doctrine of the Christ, the same has the Father and the Son.
14 Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
15 And the Jews marvelled, saying, How does this man know letters, having never learned?
16 Jesus answered them and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
17 If anyone desires to do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it is of God or [whether] I speak of myself.
18 He that speaks of himself seeks his own glory, but he that seeks the glory of him that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
