5 I have waited for the LORD, my soul has waited, and for his word I have waited.
6 My soul [has waited] for the Lord more than those that watch for the morning: [I say, more than] those that watch for the morning.
22 Having purified your souls in the obedience of the truth, by the Spirit, in unfeigned brotherly love, love one another with a pure heart fervently,
23 being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abides for ever.
24 For all flesh [is] as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away,
25 but the word of the Lord endures for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.:
9 The Lord is not late concerning his promise, as some count lateness, but is patient with us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
1 Then shall the kingdom of the heavens be likened unto ten virgins who, taking their lamps, went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were prudent, and five [were] foolish.
3 Those that [were] foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them;
4 but the prudent took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go ye out to meet him.
7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.
8 And the foolish said unto the prudent, Give us of your oil, for our lamps are going out.
9 But the prudent answered, saying, Lest there be not enough for us and you, but go ye rather to them that sell and buy for yourselves.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and those that were ready went in with him to the marriage, and the door was shut.
11 Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13 Watch, therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man comes.
1 To the Overcomer, A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD, and he inclined unto me and heard my cry.
2 He brought me up also out of the pit of hopelessness, out of the miry clay and set my feet upon a rock [and] straightened my steps.
3 And he has put a new song in my mouth, [even] praise unto our God; many shall see [it] and fear and shall wait on the LORD.
4 Blessed [is] that man that makes the LORD his trust and does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
5 Thou hast increased, O LORD my God, thy wonderful works [which] thou hast done and thy thoughts regarding us; they are beyond our ability to express, declare, or speak; they cannot be told.
6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened; burnt offering and sin offering thou hast not required.
7 Then said I, Behold, I come; in the volume of the book [it is] written of me,
8 I delight to do thy will, O my God; thy law [is] within my bowels.
9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation; behold, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.
10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy truth and thy salvation; I have not concealed thy mercy and thy truth from the great congregation.
11 Do not withhold thy tender mercies from me, O LORD; let thy mercy and thy truth continually preserve me.
12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about; my iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to see; they are more than the hairs of my head; therefore my heart fails me.
13 Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me; O LORD, make haste to help me.
14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my life to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.
20 Our soul waited for the LORD; he [is] our help and our shield.
21 Therefore our heart shall rejoice in him because we have trusted in the name of his holiness.
22 Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we have waited upon thee.:
5 My soul, rest thou only in God, for my hope [is] from him.
5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
18 And therefore will the LORD wait [for you], that he may have mercy on you, and therefore will he be exalted having mercy upon you: for the LORD [is] a God of judgment: blessed [are] all those that wait for him.
31 but those that wait for the LORD shall have new strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; [and] they shall walk, and not faint.:
1 [A Psalm] of David. The LORD [is] my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD [is] the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked, [even] my enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
3 Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war should rise against me, in this [will] I [be] confident.
4 One [thing] have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life to behold the beauty of the LORD and to enquire in his temple.
5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his tabernacle; in the secret of his tent shall he hide me; he shall set me high upon a rock.
6 And now shall my head be lifted up above my enemies round about me; therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in his tabernacle; I will sing, [yea], I will sing praises unto the LORD.
7 Hear, O LORD, [when] I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me and answer me.
8 My heart has spoken [unto me] from thee, Seek my face. Thy face, O LORD, will I seek.
9 Hide not thy face [far] from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; do not leave me or forsake me, O God of my saving health.
10 For my father and my mother have left me, and the LORD has taken me up.
11 Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a right path because of my enemies.
12 Deliver me not over unto the will of my enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me and such as breathe out cruelty.
13 [I had fainted] unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
14 Wait for the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart; wait, I say, for the LORD.:
3 And not only [this], but we even glory in the tribulations, knowing that the tribulation works patience;
4 and patience, experience; and experience, hope;
11 Behold, we count blessed those who endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job and have seen the end of the Lord, that the Lord is very merciful, and full of compassion.
7 Be patient, therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently until it receives the early and latter rain.
8 Be ye also patient and confirm your hearts, for the coming of the Lord draws near.
14 Wait for the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart; wait, I say, for the LORD.:
13 [I had fainted] unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
14 Wait for the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart; wait, I say, for the LORD.:
34 [Koph] Wait on the LORD and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the earth; when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see [it].
11 strengthened with all might, according to the power of his glory unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness,
