9 For upon the first of the first month he began to go up from Babylon, and on the first [day] of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.
10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD and to do [it] and to teach in Israel [his] statutes and judgments.
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all diligence and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
15 and that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto saving health by [the] faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.:
13 Until I come, occupy thyself reading, exhorting, teaching.
15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that has nothing to be ashamed of, rightly dividing the word of truth.
24 Then Jesus, answering, said unto them, Do ye not therefore err because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart and with all thy soul and with all thy might.
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be upon thy heart,
7 and thou shalt repeat them diligently unto thy sons and shalt talk of them being in thy house and walking by the way, lying down in bed, and rising up;
8 and thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thy hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thy eyes;
9 and thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house and on thy gates.
105 NUN. Thy word [is] a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my way.
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate therein day and night that thou may keep and do according to all that is written therein; for then thou shalt make thy way to prosper, and then thou shalt understand everything.
1 The proverbs of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel;
2 to know wisdom and chastening; to understand prudent words;
3 to receive the chastening of prudence, justice, judgment, and equity;
4 to give prudence to the simple, and to the young men knowledge and council.
5 If the wise will hear [them], doctrine shall increase, and the man of understanding shall acquire wise counsel:
6 To understand [a] parable and [the] interpretation; the words of the wise and their enigmas.
1 My son, forget not my law, but let thine heart keep my commandments:
2 For they shall add length of days and long life and peace unto thee.
13 Take fast hold of chastening; do not let go; keep this; for it [is] thy life.
18 And it shall be when he sits upon the throne of his kingdom that he shall cause a copy of this second law to be written in a book in the presence of the priests the Levites;
19 and it shall be near unto him, and he shall read in it all the days of his life that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them,
20 that his heart be not lifted up above his brethren and that he turn not aside from the commandment, [to] the right hand or [to] the left, to the end that he may prolong [his] days in his kingdom, he and his sons, in the midst of Israel.:
6 My people were cut off because they lacked wisdom; because thou hast rejected wisdom, I will cast thee out of the priesthood; [seeing] thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy sons.
10 Of which saving health the prophets, (who prophesied of the grace that was to come in you) have enquired and searched diligently;
11 searching when and in what point of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, which announced beforehand the afflictions that were to come upon the Christ, and the glory that should follow them.
20 To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
4 For the things that were written beforehand were written for our instruction that we, through patient [endurance] and through the comfort of the scriptures, might have hope.
39 Search the scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life; and they are those who testify of me.
9 BETH. With what shall a young man cleanse his way? when he shall keep thy word.
10 With my whole heart I have sought thee; O let me not err from thy commandments.
11 Thy [spoken] word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee.
12 Blessed [art] thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.
13 With my lips I have declared all the judgments of thy mouth.
14 I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies as above all riches.
15 I will meditate in thy precepts and consider thy ways.
16 I will delight myself in thy statutes; I will not forget thy words.
17 Ye, therefore, beloved, seeing ye know [these things] in advance, be on guard lest by the error of the wicked ye be deceived with the others and fall from your own steadfastness.
18 But grow in grace and [in] the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. To him [be] glory both now and until the day of eternity. Amen.:
7 I will praise thee with uprightness of heart when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments.
97 MEM. O how I love thy law! it [is] my meditation all the day.
98 Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies, for they are eternal unto me.
99 I have more understanding than all my teachers, for thy testimonies [have been] my meditation.
23 For the commandment [is] fire, and the law [is] light; and reproofs of chastening [are] the way of life,
