21 Because for this were ye called: for the Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps
22 who did no sin neither was guile found in his mouth,
23 who, when he was cursed, did not return the curse; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but committed [himself] to him that judges righteously;
24 he himself bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; by whose wound ye were healed.
3 He is despised and rejected among men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with weakness; and we hid as it were [our] faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he has borne our sicknesses and suffered our pain: and we considered him stricken, smitten of God, and cast down.
5 But he [was] wounded for our rebellions; [he was] bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace [was] upon him; and by his stripes healing was provided for us.
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same, that through death he might destroy him that had the empire of death, that is, the devil,
15 and deliver those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
8 But God increased the price of his charity toward us in that while we were yet sinners the Christ died for us.
55 And the princes of the priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death and found none.
17 Therefore does my Father love me, because I lay down my soul that I might take it again.
18 No man takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment I have received of my Father.
45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to serve and to give his life in ransom for many.
8 and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the stake.
21 From that time forth Jesus began to declare unto his disciples, how it was expedient for him to go unto Jerusalem and to suffer many things of the elders and the princes of the priests and of the scribes and to be killed and to be raised again the third day.
38 Then he said unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death; tarry ye here and watch with me.
