8 But now, O LORD, you are our father; we are the clay, and you our potter; and we all are the work of your hand.

20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor.

21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and fit for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

9 Woe unto him that strives with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashions it, What do you make? or of your work, He has no hands?

7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

34 Wail, you shepherds, and cry; and wallow yourselves in the ashes, you leaders of the flock: for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are come; and you shall fall like a choice vessel.

23 Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross.

8 Your hands have made me and fashioned me together totally; yet you do destroy me.

9 Remember, I beseech you, that you have made me as the clay; and will you bring me into dust again?

16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the thing made say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing formed say of him that formed it, He had no understanding?

20 Nay but, O man, who are you that replies against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why have you made me thus?

21 Has not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor?

1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

2 Arise, and go down to the potterâs house, and there I will cause you to hear my words.

3 Then I went down to the potterâs house, and, behold, he worked a work on the wheels.

4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.

5 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? says the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potterâs hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.

2 The precious sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold, how are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter!
