Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and behold a basket of summer fruit. 2 And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the LORD unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more. 3 And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord GOD: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall cast them forth with silence. 
Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail, 5 Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit? 6 That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat? 7 The LORD hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works. 8 Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt. 9 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day: 10 And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day. 
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: 12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. 13 In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst. 14 They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beer-sheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again.

主耶和华向我显示， 我就看见一篮夏天的果子。 
耶和华说： "阿摩司， 你看见什么？"我回答： "一篮夏天的果子。"他跟着对我说： "我民以色列的结局到了， 我不再放过他们。

你们说： "月朔什么时候过去， 好让我们可以卖五谷； 安息日什么时候结束， 好让我们可以开市卖谷物。我们卖东西就把升斗弄小， 收银子却用加重了的法码， 我们要用假秤欺骗人。 
我们用银子买穷人， 用一双鞋换取穷乏人； 连麦碎也卖掉。" 
耶和华指着雅各所夸耀的起誓说： "我必永远记着他们所作的一切； 
"这地不应为此震动， 所有住在地上的不应悲哀吗？这地必像尼罗河高涨翻腾， 像埃及的大河退落。 
"到那日， 这是耶和华的宣告： 我必使太阳在正午落下， 在白昼使地变成昏暗。 
"我必使你们欢乐的节期变为悲哀的日子， 把你们的歌声都变为哀哭。我必使你们各人腰束麻带， 头都剃光了； 我必使你们悲哀， 好像丧了独生子， 自始至终都是痛苦的。 
"看哪！ 日子快到， 这是主耶和华的宣告。我必使饥荒临到这地， 这饥荒不是因为没有食物， 这干渴不是因为没有水； 而是因为听不见耶和华的话。 
他们从这海飘流到那海， 从北到东， 到处奔走， 要寻求耶和华的话， 却寻不见。 
"到那日， 美丽的少女和勇士都因干渴昏倒。 
那些指着撒玛利亚亚示玛女神（"亚示玛女神"原文作"罪"）起誓， 或是那些指着但的神， 或别是巴的神（"别是巴的神"原文作"别是巴的道"）起誓的， 他们要倒下， 再不能起来。"
