1 The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, when king Zedekiah sent unto him Pashur the son of Melchiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, saying, 2 Enquire, I pray thee, of the LORD for us; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon maketh war against us; if so be that the LORD will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us.

3 Then said Jeremiah unto them, Thus shall ye say to Zedekiah: 4 Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, wherewith ye fight against the king of Babylon, and against the Chaldeans, which besiege you without the walls, and I will assemble them into the midst of this city. 5 And I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath. 6 And I will smite the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast: they shall die of a great pestilence. 7 And afterward, saith the LORD, I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, and such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those that seek their life: and he shall smite them with the edge of the sword; he shall not spare them, neither have pity, nor have mercy.

8 And unto this people thou shalt say, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death. 9 He that abideth in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that goeth out, and falleth to the Chaldeans that besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be unto him for a prey. 10 For I have set my face against this city for evil, and not for good, saith the LORD: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.

11 And touching the house of the king of Judah, say, Hear ye the word of the LORD; 12 O house of David, thus saith the LORD; Execute judgment in the morning, and deliver him that is spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my fury go out like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings. 13 Behold, I am against thee, O inhabitant of the valley, and rock of the plain, saith the LORD; which say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations? 14 But I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, saith the LORD: and I will kindle a fire in the forest thereof, and it shall devour all things round about it.

1 耶和华有话临到耶利米。那时， 西底家王差遣玛基雅的儿子巴施户珥， 和玛西雅的儿子西番雅祭司去见耶利米， 说：

2 "请你替我们求问耶和华， 因为巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒来攻击我们； 也许耶和华会为我们行奇事， 使尼布甲尼撒离开我们回去。"

3 耶利米就对他们说： "你们要对西底家这样说：

4 ‘耶和华以色列的 神这样说： 看哪！ 我必使你们手中的武器， 就是你们用来与城外围困你们的巴比伦王和迦勒底人作战的武器， 转回堆积在这城的中心。

5 我必在怒气、烈怒和忿怒中， 用伸出来的手和强有力的膀臂， 亲自攻击你们。

6 我要击打住在这城的人和牲畜， 他们都要因极大的瘟疫而死。

7 然后， 我必把犹大王西底家和他的臣民， 就是在这城里经过瘟疫、刀剑之灾和饥荒而幸存的人， 都交在巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒和他们的仇敌， 以及寻索他们性命的人的手中。尼布甲尼撒要用刀剑击杀他们， 绝不顾惜， 不留情， 不怜悯。’"这是耶和华的宣告。

8 耶和华又吩咐耶利米： "你要对这人民说： ‘耶和华这样说： 看哪！ 我把生命的路和死亡的路摆在你们面前。

9 凡留在这城里的， 必因刀剑、饥荒、瘟疫而死； 但出去向围困你们的迦勒底人投降的， 必可以活着， 捡回自己的性命。

10 因为我已经决意向这城降祸不降福； 这城必交在巴比伦王的手中， 他必放火把城烧毁。’"这是耶和华的宣告。

11 "你要对犹大王室说： ‘你们要听耶和华的话。

12 大卫家啊！ 耶和华这样说： 你们每早晨应秉公审判， 解救被抢夺的脱离欺压者的手； 免得我的烈怒因你们（"你们"有古抄本作"他们"）的恶行发作， 如火焚烧， 无人能熄灭。

13 看哪！ 在山谷上、在岩石平原上的耶路撒冷啊！ 我要攻击你。’这是耶和华的宣告。’你们说： 谁能下来攻击我们， 谁能进入我们的住处呢？

14 我必照着你们所作的事应得的结果惩罚你们； 我要在耶路撒冷的树林中放火， 吞灭她四围的一切。’"这是耶和华的宣告。
