1 Thou shalt not raise a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.

2 Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment:

3 Neither shalt thou countenance a poor man in his cause.

4 If thou meet thine enemy’s ox or his ass going astray, thou shalt surely bring it back to him again. 5 If thou see the ass of him that hateth thee lying under his burden, and wouldest forbear to help him, thou shalt surely help with him. 6 Thou shalt not wrest the judgment of thy poor in his cause. 7 Keep thee far from a false matter; and the innocent and righteous slay thou not: for I will not justify the wicked.

8 And thou shalt take no gift: for the gift blindeth the wise, and perverteth the words of the righteous.

9 Also thou shalt not oppress a stranger: for ye know the heart of a stranger, seeing ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

10 And six years thou shalt sow thy land, and shalt gather in the fruits thereof: 11 But the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard, and with thy oliveyard. 12 Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shalt rest: that thine ox and thine ass may rest, and the son of thy handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed. 13 And in all things that I have said unto you be circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.

14 Three times thou shalt keep a feast unto me in the year. 15 Thou shalt keep the feast of unleavened bread: (thou shalt eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded thee, in the time appointed of the month Abib; for in it thou camest out from Egypt: and none shall appear before me empty:) 16 And the feast of harvest, the firstfruits of thy labours, which thou hast sown in the field: and the feast of ingathering, which is in the end of the year, when thou hast gathered in thy labours out of the field. 17 Three times in the year all thy males shall appear before the Lord GOD. 18 Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leavened bread; neither shall the fat of my sacrifice remain until the morning. 19 The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring into the house of the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother’s milk.

20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. 21 Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him. 22 But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries. 23 For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off. 24 Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images. 25 And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

26 There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil. 27 I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee. 28 And I will send hornets before thee, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite, from before thee. 29 I will not drive them out from before thee in one year; lest the land become desolate, and the beast of the field multiply against thee. 30 By little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increased, and inherit the land. 31 And I will set thy bounds from the Red sea even unto the sea of the Philistines, and from the desert unto the river: for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand; and thou shalt drive them out before thee. 32 Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods. 33 They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee.

1 Tu ne répandras point de faux bruit. Tu ne te joindras point au méchant pour faire un faux témoignage.

2 Tu ne suivras point la multitude pour faire le mal; et tu ne déposeras point dans un procès en te mettant du côté du grand nombre, pour violer la justice.

3 Tu ne favoriseras point le pauvre dans son procès.

4 Si tu rencontres le boeuf de ton ennemi ou son âne égaré, tu le lui ramèneras.

5 Si tu vois l'âne de ton ennemi succombant sous sa charge, et que tu hésites à le décharger, tu l'aideras à le décharger.

6 Tu ne porteras point atteinte au droit du pauvre dans son procès.

7 Tu ne prononceras point de sentence inique, et tu ne feras point mourir l'innocent et le juste; car je n'absoudrai point le coupable.

8 Tu ne recevras point de présent; car les présents aveuglent ceux qui ont les yeux ouverts et corrompent les paroles des justes.

9 Tu n'opprimeras point l'étranger; vous savez ce qu'éprouve l'étranger, car vous avez été étrangers dans le pays d'Egypte.

10 Pendant six années, tu ensemenceras la terre, et tu en recueilleras le produit.

11 Mais la septième, tu lui donneras du relâche et tu la laisseras en repos; les pauvres de ton peuple en jouiront, et les bêtes des champs mangeront ce qui restera. Tu feras de même pour ta vigne et pour tes oliviers.

12 Pendant six jours, tu feras ton ouvrage. Mais le septième jour, tu te reposeras, afin que ton boeuf et ton âne aient du repos, afin que le fils de ton esclave et l'étranger aient du relâche.

13 Vous observerez tout ce que je vous ai dit, et vous ne prononcerez point le nom d'autres dieux: qu'on ne l'entende point sortir de votre bouche.

14 Trois fois par année, tu célébreras des fêtes en mon honneur.

15 Tu observeras la fête des pains sans levain; pendant sept jours, au temps fixé dans le mois des épis, tu mangeras des pains sans levain, comme je t'en ai donné l'ordre, car c'est dans ce mois que tu es sorti d'Egypte; et l'on ne se présentera point à vide devant ma face.

16 Tu observeras la fête de la moisson, des prémices de ton travail, de ce que tu auras semé dans les champs; et la fête de la récolte, à la fin de l'année, quand tu recueilleras des champs le fruit de ton travail.

17 Trois fois par année, tous les mâles se présenteront devant le Seigneur, l'Eternel.

18 Tu n'offriras point avec du pain levé le sang de la victime sacrifiée en mon honneur; et sa graisse ne sera point gardée pendant la nuit jusqu'au matin.

19 Tu apporteras à la maison de l'Eternel, ton Dieu, les prémices des premiers fruits de la terre. Tu ne feras point cuire un chevreau dans le lait de sa mère.

20 Voici, j'envoie un ange devant toi, pour te protéger en chemin, et pour te faire arriver au lieu que j'ai préparé.

21 Tiens-toi sur tes gardes en sa présence, et écoute sa voix; ne lui résiste point, parce qu'il ne pardonnera pas vos péchés, car mon nom est en lui.

22 Mais si tu écoutes sa voix, et si tu fais tout ce que je te dirai, je serai l'ennemi de tes ennemis et l'adversaire de tes adversaires.

23 Mon ange marchera devant toi, et te conduira chez les Amoréens, les Héthiens, les Phéréziens, les Cananéens, les Héviens et les Jébusiens, et je les exterminerai.

24 Tu ne te prosterneras point devant leurs dieux, et tu ne les serviras point; tu n'imiteras point ces peuples dans leur conduite, mais tu les détruiras, et tu briseras leurs statues.

25 Vous servirez l'Eternel, votre Dieu, et il bénira votre pain et vos eaux, et j'éloignerai la maladie du milieu de toi.

26 Il n'y aura dans ton pays ni femme qui avorte, ni femme stérile. Je remplirai le nombre de tes jours.

27 J'enverrai ma terreur devant toi, je mettrai en déroute tous les peuples chez lesquels tu arriveras, et je ferai tourner le dos devant toi à tous tes ennemis.

28 J'enverrai les frelons devant toi, et ils chasseront loin de ta face les Héviens, les Cananéens et les Héthiens.

29 Je ne les chasserai pas en une seule année loin de ta face, de peur que le pays ne devienne un désert et que les bêtes des champs ne se multiplient contre toi.

30 Je les chasserai peu à peu loin de ta face, jusqu'à ce que tu augmentes en nombre et que tu puisses prendre possession du pays.

31 J'établirai tes limites depuis la mer Rouge jusqu'à la mer des Philistins, et depuis le désert jusqu'au fleuve; car je livrerai entre vos mains les habitants du pays, et tu les chasseras devant toi.

32 Tu ne feras point d'alliance avec eux, ni avec leurs dieux.

33 Ils n'habiteront point dans ton pays, de peur qu'ils ne te fassent pécher contre moi; car tu servirais leurs dieux, et ce serait un piège pour toi.

1 Non spargere alcuna voce calunniosa e non tener di mano all’empio nell’attestare il falso.

2 Non andar dietro alla folla per fare il male; e non deporre in giudizio schierandoti dalla parte dei più per pervertire la giustizia.

3 Parimente non favorire il povero nel suo processo.

4 Se incontri il bue del tuo nemico o il suo asino smarrito, non mancare di ricondurglielo.

5 Se vedi l’asino di colui che t’odia steso a terra sotto il carico, guardati bene dall’abbandonarlo, ma aiuta il suo padrone a scaricarlo.

6 Non violare il diritto del povero del tuo popolo nel suo processo.

7 Rifuggi da ogni parola bugiarda; e non far morire l’innocente e il giusto; perché io non assolverò il malvagio

8 Non accettar presenti; perché il presente acceca quelli che ci veggon chiaro, e perverte le parole dei giusti.

9 Non opprimere lo straniero; voi lo conoscete l’animo dello straniero, giacché siete stati stranieri nel paese d’Egitto.

10 Per sei anni seminerai la tua terra e ne raccoglierai i frutti;

11 ma il settimo anno la lascerai riposare e rimanere incolta; i poveri del tuo popolo ne godranno, e le bestie della campagna mangeranno quel che rimarrà. Lo stesso farai della tua vigna e de’ tuoi ulivi.

12 Per sei giorni farai il tuo lavoro; ma il settimo giorno ti riposerai, affinché il tuo bue e il tuo asino possano riposarsi, e il figliuolo della tua serva e il forestiero possano riprender fiato.

13 Porrete ben mente a tutte le cose che io vi ho dette, e non pronunzierete il nome di dèi stranieri: non lo si oda uscire dalla vostra bocca.

14 Tre volte all’anno mi celebrerai una festa.

15 Osserverai la festa degli azzimi. Per sette giorni mangerai pane senza lievito, come te l’ho ordinato, al empo stabilito del mese di Abib, perché in quel mese tu uscisti dal paese d’Egitto; e nessuno comparirà dinanzi a me a mani vuote.

16 Osserverai la festa della mietitura, delle primizie del tuo lavoro, di quello che avrai seminato nei campi; e la festa della raccolta, alla fine dell’anno, quando avrai raccolto dai campi i frutti del tuo lavoro.

17 Tre volte all’anno tutti i maschi compariranno davanti al Signore, l’Eterno.

18 Non offrirai il sangue della mia vittima insieme con pane lievitato; e il grasso dei sacrifizi della mia festa non sarà serbato durante la notte fino al mattino.

19 Porterai alla casa dell’Eterno, ch’è il tuo Dio, le primizie de’ primi frutti della terra. Non farai cuocere il capretto nel latte di sua madre.

20 Ecco, io mando un angelo davanti a te per proteggerti per via, e per introdurti nel luogo che ho preparato.

21 Sii guardingo in sua presenza, e ubbidisci alla sua voce; non ti ribellare a lui, perch’egli non perdonerà le vostre trasgressioni; poiché il mio nome è in lui.

22 Ma se ubbidisci fedelmente alla sua voce e fai tutto quello che ti dirò, io sarò il nemico de’ tuoi nemici, l’avversario de’ tuoi avversari;

23 poiché il mio angelo andrà innanzi a te e t’introdurrà nel paese degli Amorei, degli Hittei, dei Ferezei, dei Cananei, degli Hivvei e dei Gebusei, e li sterminerò.

24 Tu non ti prostrerai davanti ai loro dèi, e non servirai loro. Non farai quello ch’essi fanno; ma distruggerai interamente quegli dèi e spezzerai le loro colonne.

25 Servirete all’Eterno, ch’è il vostro Dio, ed egli benedirà il tuo pane e la tua acqua; ed io allontanerò la malattia di mezzo a te.

26 Nel tuo paese non ci sarà donna che abortisca, né donna sterile. Io farò completo il numero de’ tuoi giorni.

27 Io manderò davanti a te il mio terrore, e metterò in rotta ogni popolo presso il quale arriverai, e farò voltar le spalle dinanzi a te a tutti i tuoi nemici.

28 E manderò davanti a te i calabroni, che scacceranno gli Hivvei, i Cananei e gli Hittei dal tuo cospetto.

29 Non li scaccerò dal tuo cospetto in un anno, affinché il paese non diventi un deserto, e le bestie de’ ampi non si moltiplichino contro di te.

30 Li scaccerò dal tuo cospetto a poco a poco, finché tu cresca di numero e possa prender possesso del paese.

31 E fisserò i tuoi confini dal mar Rosso al mar de’ Filistei, e dal deserto sino al fiume; poiché io vi darò nelle mani gli abitanti del paese; e tu li scaccerai d’innanzi a te.

32 Non farai alleanza di sorta con loro, né coi loro dèi.

33 Non dovranno abitare nel tuo paese, perché non t’inducano a peccare contro di me: tu serviresti ai loro dèi, e questo ti sarebbe un laccio.
