1 Then the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me. 2 For if thou refuse to let them go, and wilt hold them still, 3 Behold, the hand of the LORD is upon thy cattle which is in the field, upon the horses, upon the asses, upon the camels, upon the oxen, and upon the sheep: there shall be a very grievous murrain. 4 And the LORD shall sever between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt: and there shall nothing die of all that is the children’s of Israel. 5 And the LORD appointed a set time, saying, To morrow the LORD shall do this thing in the land. 6 And the LORD did that thing on the morrow, and all the cattle of Egypt died: but of the cattle of the children of Israel died not one. 7 And Pharaoh sent, and, behold, there was not one of the cattle of the Israelites dead. And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people go.

8 And the LORD said unto Moses and unto Aaron, Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward the heaven in the sight of Pharaoh. 9 And it shall become small dust in all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast, throughout all the land of Egypt. 10 And they took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward heaven; and it became a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast. 11 And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boil was upon the magicians, and upon all the Egyptians. 12 And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had spoken unto Moses.

13 And the LORD said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me. 14 For I will at this time send all my plagues upon thine heart, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people; that thou mayest know that there is none like me in all the earth. 15 For now I will stretch out my hand, that I may smite thee and thy people with pestilence; and thou shalt be cut off from the earth. 16 And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth. 17 As yet exaltest thou thyself against my people, that thou wilt not let them go? 18 Behold, to morrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as hath not been in Egypt since the foundation thereof even until now. 19 Send therefore now, and gather thy cattle, and all that thou hast in the field; for upon every man and beast which shall be found in the field, and shall not be brought home, the hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die. 20 He that feared the word of the LORD among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses: 21 And he that regarded not the word of the LORD left his servants and his cattle in the field.

22 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch forth thine hand toward heaven, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, upon man, and upon beast, and upon every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt. 23 And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the LORD rained hail upon the land of Egypt. 24 So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. 25 And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field. 26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail.

27 And Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said unto them, I have sinned this time: the LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked. 28 Intreat the LORD (for it is enough) that there be no more mighty thunderings and hail; and I will let you go, and ye shall stay no longer. 29 And Moses said unto him, As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands unto the LORD; and the thunder shall cease, neither shall there be any more hail; that thou mayest know how that the earth is the LORD’s. 30 But as for thee and thy servants, I know that ye will not yet fear the LORD God. 31 And the flax and the barley was smitten: for the barley was in the ear, and the flax was bolled. 32 But the wheat and the rie were not smitten: for they were not grown up. 33 And Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread abroad his hands unto the LORD: and the thunders and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured upon the earth. 34 And when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders were ceased, he sinned yet more, and hardened his heart, he and his servants. 35 And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, neither would he let the children of Israel go; as the LORD had spoken by Moses.

1 L'Eternel dit à Moïse: Va vers Pharaon, et tu lui diras: Ainsi parle l'Eternel, le Dieu des Hébreux: Laisse aller mon peuple, afin qu'il me serve.

2 Si tu refuses de le laisser aller, et si tu le retiens encore,

3 voici, la main de l'Eternel sera sur tes troupeaux qui sont dans les champs, sur les chevaux, sur les ânes, sur les chameaux, sur les boeufs et sur les brebis; il y aura une mortalité très grande.

4 L'Eternel distinguera entre les troupeaux d'Israël et les troupeaux des Egyptiens, et il ne périra rien de tout ce qui est aux enfants d'Israël.

5 L'Eternel fixa le temps, et dit: Demain, l'Eternel fera cela dans le pays.

6 Et l'Eternel fit ainsi, dès le lendemain. Tous les troupeaux des Egyptiens périrent, et il ne périt pas une bête des troupeaux des enfants d'Israël.

7 Pharaon s'informa de ce qui était arrivé; et voici, pas une bête des troupeaux d'Israël n'avait péri. Mais le coeur de Pharaon s'endurcit, et il ne laissa point aller le peuple.

8 L'Eternel dit à Moïse et à Aaron: Remplissez vos mains de cendre de fournaise, et que Moïse la jette vers le ciel, sous les yeux de Pharaon.

9 Elle deviendra une poussière qui couvrira tout le pays d'Egypte; et elle produira, dans tout le pays d'Egypte, sur les hommes et sur les animaux, des ulcères formés par une éruption de pustules.

10 Ils prirent de la cendre de fournaise, et se présentèrent devant Pharaon; Moïse la jeta vers le ciel, et elle produisit sur les hommes et sur les animaux des ulcères formés par une éruption de pustules.

11 Les magiciens ne purent paraître devant Moïse, à cause des ulcères; car les ulcères étaient sur les magiciens, comme sur tous les Egyptiens.

12 L'Eternel endurcit le coeur de Pharaon, et Pharaon n'écouta point Moïse et Aaron, selon ce que l'Eternel avait dit à Moïse.

13 L'Eternel dit à Moïse: Lève-toi de bon matin, et présente-toi devant Pharaon. Tu lui diras: Ainsi parle l'Eternel, le Dieu des Hébreux: Laisse aller mon peuple, afin qu'il me serve.

14 Car, cette fois, je vais envoyer toutes mes plaies contre ton coeur, contre tes serviteurs et contre ton peuple, afin que tu saches que nul n'est semblable à moi sur toute la terre.

15 Si j'avais étendu ma main, et que je t'eusse frappé par la mortalité, toi et ton peuple, tu aurais disparu de la terre.

16 Mais, je t'ai laissé subsister, afin que tu voies ma puissance, et que l'on publie mon nom par toute la terre.

17 Si tu t'élèves encore contre mon peuple, et si tu ne le laisses point aller,

18 voici, je ferai pleuvoir demain, à cette heure, une grêle tellement forte, qu'il n'y en a point eu de semblable en Egypte depuis le jour où elle a été fondée jusqu'à présent.

19 Fais donc mettre en sûreté tes troupeaux et tout ce qui est à toi dans les champs. La grêle tombera sur tous les hommes et sur tous les animaux qui se trouveront dans les champs et qui n'auront pas été recueillis dans les maisons, et ils périront.

20 Ceux des serviteurs de Pharaon qui craignirent la parole de l'Eternel firent retirer dans les maisons leurs serviteurs et leurs troupeaux.

21 Mais ceux qui ne prirent point à coeur la parole de l'Eternel laissèrent leurs serviteurs et leurs troupeaux dans les champs.

22 L'Eternel dit à Moïse: Etends ta main vers le ciel; et qu'il tombe de la grêle dans tout le pays d'Egypte sur les hommes, sur les animaux, et sur toutes les herbes des champs, dans le pays d'Egypte.

23 Moïse étendit sa verge vers le ciel; et l'Eternel envoya des tonnerres et de la grêle, et le feu se promenait sur la terre. L'Eternel fit pleuvoir de la grêle sur le pays d'Egypte.

24 Il tomba de la grêle, et le feu se mêlait avec la grêle; elle était tellement forte qu'il n'y en avait point eu de semblable dans tout le pays d'Egypte depuis qu'il existe comme nation.

25 La grêle frappa, dans tout le pays d'Egypte, tout ce qui était dans les champs, depuis les hommes jusqu'aux animaux; la grêle frappa aussi toutes les herbes des champs, et brisa tous les arbres des champs.

26 Ce fut seulement dans le pays de Gosen, où étaient les enfants d'Israël, qu'il n'y eut point de grêle.

27 Pharaon fit appeler Moïse et Aaron, et leur dit: Cette fois, j'ai péché; c'est l'Eternel qui est le juste, et moi et mon peuple nous sommes les coupables.

28 Priez l'Eternel, pour qu'il n'y ait plus de tonnerres et de grêle; et je vous laisserai aller, et l'on ne vous retiendra plus.

29 Moïse lui dit: Quand je sortirai de la ville, je lèverai mes mains vers l'Eternel, les tonnerres cesseront et il n'y aura plus de grêle, afin que tu saches que la terre est à l'Eternel.

30 Mais je sais que toi et tes serviteurs, vous ne craindrez pas encore l'Eternel Dieu.

31 Le lin et l'orge avaient été frappés, parce que l'orge était en épis et que c'était la floraison du lin;

32 le froment et l'épeautre n'avaient point été frappés, parce qu'ils sont tardifs.

33 Moïse sortit de chez Pharaon, pour aller hors de la ville; il leva ses mains vers l'Eternel, les tonnerres et la grêle cessèrent, et la pluie ne tomba plus sur la terre.

34 Pharaon, voyant que la pluie, la grêle et les tonnerres avaient cessé, continua de pécher, et il endurcit son coeur, lui et ses serviteurs.

35 Le coeur de Pharaon s'endurcit, et il ne laissa point aller les enfants d'Israël, selon ce que l'Eternel avait dit par l'intermédiaire de Moïse.

1 Allora l’Eterno disse a Mosè: "Va’ da Faraone, e digli: Così dice l’Eterno, l’Iddio degli Ebrei: Lascia andare il mio popolo, perché mi serva;

2 che se tu rifiuti di lasciarlo andare e lo rattieni ancora,

3 ecco, la mano dell’Eterno sarà sul tuo bestiame ch’è nei campi, sui cavalli, sugli asini, sui cammelli, sui buoi e sulle pecore; ci sarà una tremenda mortalità.

4 E l’Eterno farà distinzione fra il bestiame d’Israele ed il bestiame d’Egitto; e nulla morrà di tutto quello che appartiene ai figliuoli d’Israele".

5 E l’Eterno fissò un termine, dicendo: "Domani, l’Eterno farà questo nel paese".

6 E l’indomani l’Eterno lo fece, e tutto il bestiame d’Egitto morì; ma del bestiame dei figliuoli d’Israele neppure un capo morì.

7 Faraone mandò a vedere, ed ecco che neppure un capo del bestiame degl’Israeliti era morto. Ma il cuore di Faraone fu ostinato, ed ei non lasciò andare il popolo.

8 E l’Eterno disse a Mosè e ad Aaronne: "Prendete delle manate di cenere di fornace, e la sparga Mosè verso il cielo, sotto gli occhi di Faraone.

9 Essa diventerà una polvere che coprirà tutto il paese d’Egitto, e produrrà delle ulceri germoglianti pustole sulle persone e sugli animali, per tutto il paese d’Egitto".

10 Ed essi presero della cenere di fornace, e si presentarono a Faraone; Mosè la sparse verso il cielo, ed essa produsse delle ulceri germoglianti pustole sulle persone e sugli animali.

11 E i magi non poteron stare dinanzi a Mosè, a motivo delle ulceri, perché le ulceri erano addosso ai magi come addosso a tutti gli Egiziani.

12 E l’Eterno indurò il cuor di Faraone, ed egli non diè ascolto a Mosè e ad Aaronne come l’Eterno avea detto a Mosè.

13 Poi l’Eterno disse a Mosè: "Lèvati di buon mattino, presentati a Faraone, e digli: Così dice l’Eterno, l’Iddio degli Ebrei: Lascia andare il mio popolo, perché mi serva;

14 poiché questa volta manderò tutte le mie piaghe sul tuo cuore, sui tuoi servitori e sul tuo popolo, ffinché tu conosca che non c’è nessuno simile a me su tutta la terra.

15 Che se ora io avessi steso la mia mano e avessi percosso di peste te e il tuo popolo, tu saresti stato sterminato di sulla terra.

16 Ma no; io t’ho lasciato sussistere per questo: per mostrarti la mia potenza, e perché il mio nome sia divulgato per tutta la terra.

17 E ti opponi ancora al mio popolo per non lasciarlo andare?

18 Ecco, domani, verso quest’ora, io farò cadere una grandine così forte, che non ce ne fu mai di simile in gitto, da che fu fondato, fino al dì d’oggi.

19 Or dunque manda a far mettere al sicuro il tuo bestiame e tutto quello che hai per i campi. La grandine cadrà su tutta la gente e su tutti gli animali che si troveranno per i campi e non saranno stati raccolti in casa, e morranno".

20 Fra i servitori di Faraone, quelli che temettero la parola dell’Eterno fecero rifugiare nelle case i loro servitori e il loro bestiame;

21 ma quelli che non fecero conto della parola dell’Eterno, lasciarono i loro servitori e il loro bestiame per i campi.

22 E l’Eterno disse a Mosè: "Stendi la tua mano verso il cielo, e cada grandine in tutto il paese d’Egitto, sulla gente, sugli animali e sopra ogni erba dei campi, nel paese d’Egitto".

23 E Mosè stese il suo bastone verso il cielo; e l’Eterno mandò tuoni e grandine, e del fuoco s’avventò sulla terra; e l’Eterno fece piovere grandine sul paese d’Egitto.

24 Così ci fu grandine e fuoco guizzante del continuo tra la grandine; e la grandine fu così forte, come non ce n’era stata di simile in tutto il paese d’Egitto, da che era diventato nazione.

25 E la grandine percosse, in tutto il paese d’Egitto, tutto quello ch’era per i campi: uomini e bestie; e la grandine percosse ogni erba de’ campi e fracassò ogni albero della campagna.

26 Solamente nel paese di Goscen, dov’erano i figliuoli d’Israele, non cadde grandine.

27 Allora Faraone mandò a chiamare Mosè ed Aaronne, e disse loro: "Questa volta io ho peccato; ’Eterno è giusto, mentre io e il mio popolo siamo colpevoli.

28 Pregate l’Eterno perché cessino questi grandi tuoni e la grandine; e io vi lascerò andare, e non sarete più trattenuti".

29 E Mosè gli disse: "Come sarò uscito dalla città, protenderò le mani all’Eterno; i tuoni cesseranno e non ci sarà più grandine, affinché tu sappia che la terra è dell’Eterno.

30 Ma quanto a te e ai tuoi servitori, io so che non avrete ancora timore dell’Eterno Iddio".

31 Ora il lino e l’orzo erano stati percossi, perché l’orzo era in spiga e il lino in fiore;

32 ma il grano e la spelda non furon percossi, perché sono serotini.

33 Mosè dunque, lasciato Faraone, uscì di città, protese le mani all’Eterno, e i tuoni e la grandine cessarono, e non cadde più pioggia sulla terra.

34 E quando Faraone vide che la pioggia, la grandine e i tuoni eran cessati, continuò a peccare, e si ostinò in cuor suo: lui e i suoi servitori.

35 E il cuor di Faraone s’indurò, ed egli non lasciò andare i figliuoli d’Israele, come l’Eterno avea detto per bocca di Mosè.
