1 And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. 2 And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. 3 And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: 4 For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

5 And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said, 6 As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. 7 And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass? 8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them. 9 But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by. 10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: 11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. 12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake. 13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony. 14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: 15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. 16 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. 17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake. 18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish. 19 In your patience possess ye your souls. 20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. 21 Then let them which are in Judæa flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. 22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. 24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. 29 And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; 30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. 31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. 32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. 33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. 37 And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives. 38 And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him.

1 Jésus, ayant levé les yeux, vit les riches qui mettaient leurs offrandes dans le tronc.

2 Il vit aussi une pauvre veuve, qui y mettait deux petites pièces.

3 Et il dit: Je vous le dis en vérité, cette pauvre veuve a mis plus que tous les autres;

4 car c'est de leur superflu que tous ceux-là ont mis des offrandes dans le tronc, mais elle a mis de son nécessaire, tout ce qu'elle avait pour vivre.

5 Comme quelques-uns parlaient des belles pierres et des offrandes qui faisaient l'ornement du temple, Jésus dit:

6 Les jours viendront où, de ce que vous voyez, il ne restera pas pierre sur pierre qui ne soit renversée.

7 Ils lui demandèrent: Maître, quand donc cela arrivera-t-il, et à quel signe connaîtra-t-on que ces choses vont arriver?

8 Jésus répondit: Prenez garde que vous ne soyez séduits. Car plusieurs viendront en mon nom, disant: C'est moi, et le temps approche. Ne les suivez pas.

9 Quand vous entendrez parler de guerres et de soulèvements, ne soyez pas effrayés, car il faut que ces choses arrivent premièrement. Mais ce ne sera pas encore la fin.

10 Alors il leur dit: Une nation s'élèvera contre une nation, et un royaume contre un royaume;

11 il y aura de grands tremblements de terre, et, en divers lieux, des pestes et des famines; il y aura des phénomènes terribles, et de grands signes dans le ciel.

12 Mais, avant tout cela, on mettra la main sur vous, et l'on vous persécutera; on vous livrera aux synagogues, on vous jettera en prison, on vous mènera devant des rois et devant des gouverneurs, à cause de mon nom.

13 Cela vous arrivera pour que vous serviez de témoignage.

14 Mettez-vous donc dans l'esprit de ne pas préméditer votre défense;

15 car je vous donnerai une bouche et une sagesse à laquelle tous vos adversaires ne pourront résister ou contredire.

16 Vous serez livrés même par vos parents, par vos frères, par vos proches et par vos amis, et ils feront mourir plusieurs d'entre vous.

17 Vous serez haïs de tous, à cause de mon nom.

18 Mais il ne se perdra pas un cheveu de votre tête;

19 par votre persévérance vous sauverez vos âmes.

20 Lorsque vous verrez Jérusalem investie par des armées, sachez alors que sa désolation est proche.

21 Alors, que ceux qui seront en Judée fuient dans les montagnes, que ceux qui seront au milieu de Jérusalem en sortent, et que ceux qui seront dans les champs n'entrent pas dans la ville.

22 Car ce seront des jours de vengeance, pour l'accomplissement de tout ce qui est écrit.

23 Malheur aux femmes qui seront enceintes et à celles qui allaiteront en ces jours-là! Car il y aura une grande détresse dans le pays, et de la colère contre ce peuple.

24 Ils tomberont sous le tranchant de l'épée, ils seront emmenés captifs parmi toutes les nations, et Jérusalem sera foulée aux pieds par les nations, jusqu'à ce que les temps des nations soient accomplis.

25 Il y aura des signes dans le soleil, dans la lune et dans les étoiles. Et sur la terre, il y aura de l'angoisse chez les nations qui ne sauront que faire, au bruit de la mer et des flots,

26 les hommes rendant l'âme de terreur dans l'attente de ce qui surviendra pour la terre; car les puissances des cieux seront ébranlées.

27 Alors on verra le Fils de l'homme venant sur une nuée avec puissance et une grande gloire.

28 Quand ces choses commenceront à arriver, redressez-vous et levez vos têtes, parce que votre délivrance approche.

29 Et il leur dit une comparaison: Voyez le figuier, et tous les arbres.

30 Dès qu'ils ont poussé, vous connaissez de vous-mêmes, en regardant, que déjà l'été est proche.

31 De même, quand vous verrez ces choses arriver, sachez que le royaume de Dieu est proche.

32 Je vous le dis en vérité, cette génération ne passera point, que tout cela n'arrive.

33 Le ciel et la terre passeront, mais mes paroles ne passeront point.

34 Prenez garde à vous-mêmes, de crainte que vos coeurs ne s'appesantissent par les excès du manger et du boire, et par les soucis de la vie, et que ce jour ne vienne sur vous à l'improviste;

35 car il viendra comme un filet sur tous ceux qui habitent sur la face de toute la terre.

36 Veillez donc et priez en tout temps, afin que vous ayez la force d'échapper à toutes ces choses qui arriveront, et de paraître debout devant le Fils de l'homme.

37 Pendant le jour, Jésus enseignait dans le temple, et il allait passer la nuit à la montagne appelée montagne des oliviers.

38 Et tout le peuple, dès le matin, se rendait vers lui dans le temple pour l'écouter.

1 Poi, alzati gli occhi, Gesù vide dei ricchi che gettavano i loro doni nella cassa delle offerte.

2 Vide pure una vedova poveretta che vi gettava due spiccioli;

3 e disse: In verità vi dico che questa povera vedova ha gettato più di tutti;

4 poiché tutti costoro hanno gettato nelle offerte del loro superfluo; ma costei, del suo necessario, v’ha gettato tutto quanto avea per vivere.

5 E facendo alcuni notare come il tempio fosse adorno di belle pietre e di doni consacrati, egli disse:

6 Quant’è a queste cose che voi contemplate, verranno i giorni che non sarà lasciata pietra sopra pietra che non sia diroccata.

7 Ed essi gli domandarono: Maestro, quando avverranno dunque queste cose? e quale sarà il segno del tempo in cui queste cose staranno per succedere?

8 Ed egli disse: Guardate di non esser sedotti; perché molti verranno sotto il mio nome, dicendo: Son io; : Il tempo è vicino; non andate dietro a loro.

9 E quando udrete parlar di guerre e di sommosse, non siate spaventati; perché bisogna che queste cose avvengano prima; ma la fine non verrà subito dopo.

10 Allora disse loro: Si leverà nazione contro nazione e regno contro regno;

11 vi saranno gran terremoti, e in diversi luoghi pestilenze e carestie; vi saranno fenomeni spaventevoli e gran segni dal cielo.

12 Ma prima di tutte queste cose, vi metteranno le mani addosso e vi perseguiteranno, dandovi in man delle sinagoghe e mettendovi in prigione, traendovi dinanzi a re e governatori, a cagion del mio nome.

13 Ma ciò vi darà occasione di render testimonianza.

14 Mettetevi dunque in cuore di non premeditar come rispondere a vostra difesa,

15 perché io vi darò una parola e una sapienza alle quali tutti i vostri avversari non potranno contrastare né contraddire.

16 Or voi sarete traditi perfino da genitori, da fratelli, da parenti e da amici; faranno morire parecchi di voi;

17 e sarete odiati da tutti a cagion del mio nome;

18 ma neppure un capello del vostro capo perirà.

19 Con la vostra perseveranza guadagnerete le anime vostre.

20 Quando vedrete Gerusalemme circondata d’eserciti, sappiate allora che la sua desolazione è vicina.

21 Allora quelli che sono in Giudea, fuggano ai monti; e quelli che sono nella città, se ne partano; e quelli che sono per la campagna, non entrino in lei.

22 Perché quelli son giorni di vendetta, affinché tutte le cose che sono scritte, siano adempite.

23 Guai alle donne che saranno incinte, e a quelle che allatteranno in que’ giorni! Perché vi sarà gran distretta nel paese ed ira su questo popolo.

24 E cadranno sotto il taglio della spada, e saran menati in cattività fra tutte le genti; e Gerusalemme sarà calpestata dai Gentili, finché i tempi de’ Gentili siano compiti.

25 E vi saranno de’ segni nel sole, nella luna e nelle stelle; e sulla terra, angoscia delle nazioni, sbigottite dal rimbombo del mare e delle onde;

26 gli uomini venendo meno per la paurosa aspettazione di quel che sarà per accadere al mondo; poiché le potenze de’ cieli saranno scrollate.

27 E allora vedranno il Figliuol dell’uomo venir sopra le nuvole con potenza e gran gloria.

28 Ma quando queste cose cominceranno ad avvenire, rialzatevi, levate il capo, perché la vostra redenzione è vicina.

29 E disse loro una parabola: Guardate il fico e tutti gli alberi;

30 quando cominciano a germogliare, voi, guardando, riconoscete da voi stessi che l’estate è oramai vicina.

31 Così anche voi quando vedrete avvenir queste cose, sappiate che il regno di Dio è vicino.

32 In verità io vi dico che questa generazione non passerà prima che tutte queste cose siano avvenute.

33 Il cielo e la terra passeranno, ma le mie parole non passeranno.

34 Badate a voi stessi, che talora i vostri cuori non siano aggravati da crapula, da ubriachezza e dalle ansiose sollecitudini di questa vita, e che quel giorno non vi venga addosso all’improvviso come un laccio;

35 perché verrà sopra tutti quelli che abitano sulla faccia di tutta la terra.

36 Vegliate dunque, pregando in ogni tempo, affinché siate in grado di scampare a tutte queste cose che stanno per accadere, e di comparire dinanzi al Figliuol dell’uomo.

37 Or di giorno egli insegnava nel tempio; e la notte usciva e la passava sul monte detto degli Ulivi.

38 E tutto il popolo, la mattina di buon’ora, veniva a lui nel tempio per udirlo.
