13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs. 14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened. 15 And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. 16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him. 17 And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad? 18 And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days? 19 And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people: 20 And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him. 21 But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done. 22 Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre; 23 And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive. 24 And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not. 25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: 26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? 27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. 28 And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further. 29 But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them. 30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. 31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. 32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

13 Et voici, ce même jour, deux disciples allaient à un village nommé Emmaüs, éloigné de Jérusalem de soixante stades;

14 et ils s'entretenaient de tout ce qui s'était passé.

15 Pendant qu'ils parlaient et discutaient, Jésus s'approcha, et fit route avec eux.

16 Mais leurs yeux étaient empêchés de le reconnaître.

17 Il leur dit: De quoi vous entretenez-vous en marchant, pour que vous soyez tout tristes?

18 L'un d'eux, nommé Cléopas, lui répondit: Es-tu le seul qui, séjournant à Jérusalem ne sache pas ce qui y est arrivé ces jours-ci? -

19 Quoi? leur dit-il. Et ils lui répondirent: Ce qui est arrivé au sujet de Jésus de Nazareth, qui était un prophète puissant en oeuvres et en paroles devant Dieu et devant tout le peuple,

20 et comment les principaux sacrificateurs et nos magistrats l'ont livré pour le faire condamner à mort et l'ont crucifié.

21 Nous espérions que ce serait lui qui délivrerait Israël; mais avec tout cela, voici le troisième jour que ces choses se sont passées.

22 Il est vrai que quelques femmes d'entre nous nous ont fort étonnés; s'étant rendues de grand matin au sépulcre

23 et n'ayant pas trouvé son corps, elles sont venues dire que des anges leur sont apparus et ont annoncé qu'il est vivant.

24 Quelques-uns de ceux qui étaient avec nous sont allés au sépulcre, et ils ont trouvé les choses comme les femmes l'avaient dit; mais lui, ils ne l'ont point vu.

25 Alors Jésus leur dit: O hommes sans intelligence, et dont le coeur est lent à croire tout ce qu'ont dit les prophètes!

26 Ne fallait-il pas que le Christ souffrît ces choses, et qu'il entrât dans sa gloire?

27 Et, commençant par Moïse et par tous les prophètes, il leur expliqua dans toutes les Ecritures ce qui le concernait.

28 Lorsqu'ils furent près du village où ils allaient, il parut vouloir aller plus loin.

29 Mais ils le pressèrent, en disant: Reste avec nous, car le soir approche, le jour est sur son déclin. Et il entra, pour rester avec eux.

30 Pendant qu'il était à table avec eux, il prit le pain; et, après avoir rendu grâces, il le rompit, et le leur donna.

31 Alors leurs yeux s'ouvrirent, et ils le reconnurent; mais il disparut de devant eux.

32 Et ils se dirent l'un à l'autre: Notre coeur ne brûlait-il pas au dedans de nous, lorsqu'il nous parlait en chemin et nous expliquait les Ecritures?

13 Ed ecco, due di loro se ne andavano in quello stesso giorno a un villaggio nominato Emmaus, distante da Gerusalemme sessanta stadi;

14 e discorrevano tra loro di tutte le cose che erano accadute.

15 Ed avvenne che mentre discorrevano e discutevano insieme, Gesù stesso si accostò e cominciò a camminare con loro.

16 Ma gli occhi loro erano impediti così da non riconoscerlo.

17 Ed egli domandò loro: Che discorsi son questi che tenete fra voi cammin facendo? Ed essi si fermarono tutti mesti.

18 E lun de due, per nome Cleopa, rispondendo, gli disse: Tu solo, tra i forestieri, stando in erusalemme, non hai saputo le cose che sono in essa avvenute in questi giorni?

19 Ed egli disse loro: Quali? Ed essi gli risposero: Il fatto di Gesù Nazareno, che era un profeta potente in opere e in parole dinanzi a Dio e a tutto il popolo;

20 e come i capi sacerdoti e i nostri magistrati lhanno fatto condannare a morte, e lhanno crocifisso.

21 Or noi speravamo che fosse lui che avrebbe riscattato Israele; invece, con tutto ciò, ecco il terzo giorno da che queste cose sono avvenute.

22 Vero è che certe donne dinfra noi ci hanno fatto stupire; essendo andate la mattina di buonora al sepolcro,

23 e non avendo trovato il corpo di lui, son venute dicendo daver avuto anche una visione dangeli, i quali dicono chegli vive.

24 E alcuni de nostri sono andati al sepolcro, e hanno trovato la cosa così come aveano detto le donne; a lui non lhanno veduto.

25 Allora Gesù disse loro: O insensati e tardi di cuore a credere a tutte le cose che i profeti hanno dette!

26 Non bisognava egli che il Cristo soffrisse queste cose ed entrasse quindi nella sua gloria?

27 E cominciando da Mosè e da tutti i profeti, spiegò loro in tutte le Scritture le cose che lo concernevano.

28 E quando si furono avvicinati al villaggio dove andavano, egli fece come se volesse andar più oltre.

29 Ed essi gli fecero forza, dicendo: Rimani con noi, perché si fa sera e il giorno è già declinato. Ed egli entrò per rimaner con loro.

30 E quando si fu messo a tavola con loro, prese il pane, lo benedisse, e spezzatolo lo dette loro.

31 E gli occhi loro furono aperti, e lo riconobbero; ma egli sparì dinnanzi a loro.

32 Ed essi dissero luno allaltro: Non ardeva il cuor nostro in noi mentregli ci parlava per la via, mentre ci spiegava le Scritture?
