1 At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat. 2 But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day. 3 But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him; 4 How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests? 5 Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless? 6 But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple. 7 But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless. 8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day. 9 And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:
10 And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him. 11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? 12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days. 13 Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.
14 Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him. 15 But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all; 16 And charged them that they should not make him known: 17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, 18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles. 19 He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets. 20 A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory. 21 And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.
22 Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. 23 And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? 24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils. 25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: 26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? 27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges. 28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. 29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. 30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.
31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. 32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. 33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. 34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. 36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. 39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. 41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. 42 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here. 43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. 44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. 45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
46 While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. 47 Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. 48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? 49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! 50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
1 En ce temps-là, Jésus traversa des champs de blé un jour de sabbat. Ses disciples, qui avaient faim, se mirent à arracher des épis et à manger.
2 Les pharisiens, voyant cela, lui dirent: Voici, tes disciples font ce qu'il n'est pas permis de faire pendant le sabbat.
3 Mais Jésus leur répondit: N'avez-vous pas lu ce que fit David, lorsqu'il eut faim, lui et ceux qui étaient avec lui;
4 comment il entra dans la maison de Dieu, et mangea les pains de proposition, qu'il ne lui était pas permis de manger, non plus qu'à ceux qui étaient avec lui, et qui étaient réservés aux sacrificateurs seuls?
5 Ou, n'avez-vous pas lu dans la loi que, les jours de sabbat, les sacrificateurs violent le sabbat dans le temple, sans se rendre coupables?
6 Or, je vous le dis, il y a ici quelque chose de plus grand que le temple.
7 Si vous saviez ce que signifie: Je prends plaisir à la miséricorde, et non aux sacrifices, vous n'auriez pas condamné des innocents.
8 Car le Fils de l'homme est maître du sabbat.
9 Etant parti de là, Jésus entra dans la synagogue.
10 Et voici, il s'y trouvait un homme qui avait la main sèche. Ils demandèrent à Jésus: Est-il permis de faire une guérison les jours de sabbat? C'était afin de pouvoir l'accuser.
11 Il leur répondit: Lequel d'entre vous, s'il n'a qu'une brebis et qu'elle tombe dans une fosse le jour du sabbat, ne la saisira pour l'en retirer?
12 Combien un homme ne vaut-il pas plus qu'une brebis! Il est donc permis de faire du bien les jours de sabbat.
13 Alors il dit à l'homme: Etends ta main. Il l'étendit, et elle devint saine comme l'autre.
14 Les pharisiens sortirent, et ils se consultèrent sur les moyens de le faire périr.
15 Mais Jésus, l'ayant su, s'éloigna de ce lieu. Une grande foule le suivit. Il guérit tous les malades,
16 et il leur recommanda sévèrement de ne pas le faire connaître,
17 afin que s'accomplît ce qui avait été annoncé par Esaïe, le prophète:
18 Voici mon serviteur que j'ai choisi, Mon bien-aimé en qui mon âme a pris plaisir. Je mettrai mon Esprit sur lui, Et il annoncera la justice aux nations.
19 Il ne contestera point, il ne criera point, Et personne n'entendra sa voix dans les rues.
20 Il ne brisera point le roseau cassé, Et il n'éteindra point le lumignon qui fume, Jusqu'à ce qu'il ait fait triompher la justice.
21 Et les nations espéreront en son nom.
22 Alors on lui amena un démoniaque aveugle et muet, et il le guérit, de sorte que le muet parlait et voyait.
23 Toute la foule étonnée disait: N'est-ce point là le Fils de David?
24 Les pharisiens, ayant entendu cela, dirent: Cet homme ne chasse les démons que par Béelzébul, prince des démons.
25 Comme Jésus connaissait leurs pensées, il leur dit: Tout royaume divisé contre lui-même est dévasté, et toute ville ou maison divisée contre elle-même ne peut subsister.
26 Si Satan chasse Satan, il est divisé contre lui-même; comment donc son royaume subsistera-t-il?
27 Et si moi, je chasse les démons par Béelzébul, vos fils, par qui les chassent-ils? C'est pourquoi ils seront eux-mêmes vos juges.
28 Mais, si c'est par l'Esprit de Dieu que je chasse les démons, le royaume de Dieu est donc venu vers vous.
29 Ou, comment quelqu'un peut-il entrer dans la maison d'un homme fort et piller ses biens, sans avoir auparavant lié cet homme fort? Alors seulement il pillera sa maison.
30 Celui qui n'est pas avec moi est contre moi, et celui qui n'assemble pas avec moi disperse.
31 C'est pourquoi je vous dis: Tout péché et tout blasphème sera pardonné aux hommes, mais le blasphème contre l'Esprit ne sera point pardonné.
32 Quiconque parlera contre le Fils de l'homme, il lui sera pardonné; mais quiconque parlera contre le Saint-Esprit, il ne lui sera pardonné ni dans ce siècle ni dans le siècle à venir.
33 Ou dites que l'arbre est bon et que son fruit est bon, ou dites que l'arbre est mauvais et que son fruit est mauvais; car on connaît l'arbre par le fruit.
34 Races de vipères, comment pourriez-vous dire de bonnes choses, méchants comme vous l'êtes? Car c'est de l'abondance du coeur que la bouche parle.
35 L'homme bon tire de bonnes choses de son bon trésor, et l'homme méchant tire de mauvaises choses de son mauvais trésor.
36 Je vous le dis: au jour du jugement, les hommes rendront compte de toute parole vaine qu'ils auront proférée.
37 Car par tes paroles tu seras justifié, et par tes paroles tu seras condamné.
38 Alors quelques-uns des scribes et des pharisiens prirent la parole, et dirent: Maître, nous voudrions te voir faire un miracle.
39 Il leur répondit: Une génération méchante et adultère demande un miracle; il ne lui sera donné d'autre miracle que celui du prophète Jonas.
40 Car, de même que Jonas fut trois jours et trois nuits dans le ventre d'un grand poisson, de même le Fils de l'homme sera trois jours et trois nuits dans le sein de la terre.
41 Les hommes de Ninive se lèveront, au jour du jugement, avec cette génération et la condamneront, parce qu'ils se repentirent à la prédication de Jonas; et voici, il y a ici plus que Jonas.
42 La reine du Midi se lèvera, au jour du jugement, avec cette génération et la condamnera, parce qu'elle vint des extrémités de la terre pour entendre la sagesse de Salomon, et voici, il y a ici plus que Salomon.
43 Lorsque l'esprit impur est sorti d'un homme, il va par des lieux arides, cherchant du repos, et il n'en trouve point.
44 Alors il dit: Je retournerai dans ma maison d'où je suis sorti; et, quand il arrive, il la trouve vide, balayée et ornée.
45 Il s'en va, et il prend avec lui sept autres esprits plus méchants que lui; ils entrent dans la maison, s'y établissent, et la dernière condition de cet homme est pire que la première. Il en sera de même pour cette génération méchante.
46 Comme Jésus s'adressait encore à la foule, voici, sa mère et ses frères, qui étaient dehors, cherchèrent à lui parler.
47 Quelqu'un lui dit: Voici, ta mère et tes frères sont dehors, et ils cherchent à te parler.
48 Mais Jésus répondit à celui qui le lui disait: Qui est ma mère, et qui sont mes frères?
49 Puis, étendant la main sur ses disciples, il dit: Voici ma mère et mes frères.
50 Car, quiconque fait la volonté de mon Père qui est dans les cieux, celui-là est mon frère, et ma soeur, et ma mère.
1 In quel tempo Gesù passò in giorno di sabato per i seminati; e i suoi discepoli ebbero fame e presero a svellere delle spighe ed a mangiare.
2 E i Farisei, veduto ciò, gli dissero: Ecco, i tuoi discepoli fanno quel che non è lecito di fare in giorno di sabato.
3 Ma egli disse loro: Non avete voi letto quel che fece Davide, quando ebbe fame, egli e coloro cheran con lui?
4 Come egli entrò nella casa di Dio, e come mangiarono i pani di presentazione i quali non era lecito di mangiare né a lui, né a quelli cheran con lui, ma ai soli sacerdoti?
5 Ovvero, non avete voi letto nella legge che nei giorni di sabato, i sacerdoti nel tempio violano il sabato e non ne son colpevoli?
6 Or io vi dico che vè qui qualcosa di più grande del tempio.
7 E se sapeste che cosa significhi: Voglio misericordia e non sacrifizio, voi non avreste condannato glinnocenti;
8 perché il Figliuol delluomo è signore del sabato.
9 E, partitosi di là, venne nella loro sinagoga.
10 Ed ecco un uomo che avea una mano secca. Ed essi, affin di poterlo accusare, fecero a Gesù questa domanda: E egli lecito far delle guarigioni in giorno di sabato?
11 Ed egli disse loro: Chi è colui fra voi che, avendo una pecora, sella cade in giorno di sabato in una fossa non la prenda e la tragga fuori?
12 Or quantè un uomo da più duna pecora! E dunque lecito di far del bene in giorno di sabato.
13 Allora disse a quelluomo: Stendi la tua mano. E colui la stese, ed ella tornò sana come laltra.
14 Ma i Farisei, usciti, tennero consiglio contro di lui, col fine di farlo morire.
15 Ma Gesù, saputolo, si partì di là; e molti lo seguirono, ed egli li guari tutti;
16 e ordinò loro severamente di non farlo conoscere,
17 affinché si adempisse quanto era stato detto per bocca del profeta Isaia:
18 Ecco il mio Servitore che ho scelto; il mio diletto, in cui lanima mia si è compiaciuta. Io metterò lo pirito mio sopra lui, ed egli annunzierà giudicio alle genti.
19 Non contenderà, né griderà, né alcuno udrà la sua voce nelle piazze.
20 Ei non triterà la canna rotta e non spegnerà il lucignolo fumante, finché non abbia fatto trionfar la iustizia.
21 E nel nome di lui le genti spereranno.
22 Allora gli fu presentato un indemoniato, cieco e muto; ed egli lo sanò, talché il mutolo parlava e vedeva.
23 E tutte le turbe stupivano e dicevano: Non è costui il figliuol di Davide?
24 Ma i Farisei, udendo ciò, dissero: Costui non caccia i demoni se non per laiuto di Beelzebub, principe dei demoni.
25 E Gesù, conosciuti i loro pensieri, disse loro: Ogni regno diviso in parti contrarie sarà ridotto in deserto; ed ogni città o casa divisa in parti contrarie non potrà reggere.
26 E se Satana caccia Satana, egli è diviso contro se stesso; come dunque potrà sussistere il suo regno?
27 E se io caccio i demoni per laiuto di Beelzebub, per laiuto di chi li cacciano i vostri figliuoli? Per questo, essi stessi saranno i vostri giudici.
28 Ma se è per laiuto dello Spirito di Dio che io caccio i demoni, è dunque pervenuto fino a voi il regno di Dio.
29 Ovvero, come può uno entrar nella casa delluomo forte e rapirgli le sue masserizie, se prima non abbia legato luomo forte? Allora soltanto gli prederà la casa.
30 Chi non è con me, è contro di me; e chi non raccoglie con me, disperde.
31 Perciò io vi dico: Ogni peccato e bestemmia sarà perdonata agli uomini; ma la bestemmia contro lo pirito non sarà perdonata.
32 Ed a chiunque parli contro il Figliuol delluomo, sarà perdonato; ma a chiunque parli contro lo Spirito anto, non sarà perdonato né in questo mondo né in quello a venire.
33 O voi fate lalbero buono e buono pure il suo frutto, o fate lalbero cattivo e cattivo pure il suo frutto; erché dal frutto si conosce lalbero.
34 Razza di vipere, come potete dir cose buone, essendo malvagi? Poiché dallabbondanza del cuore la bocca parla.
35 Luomo dabbene dal suo buon tesoro trae cose buone; e luomo malvagio dal suo malvagio tesoro trae cose malvage.
36 Or io vi dico che dogni parola oziosa che avranno detta, gli uomini renderan conto nel giorno del giudizio;
37 poiché dalle tue parole sarai giustificato, e dalle tue parole sarai condannato.
38 Allora alcuni degli scribi e dei Farisei presero a dirgli: Maestro, noi vorremmo vederti operare un segno.
39 Ma egli rispose loro: Questa generazione malvagia e adultera chiede un segno; e segno non le sarà dato, tranne il segno del profeta Giona.
40 Poiché, come Giona stette nel ventre del pesce tre giorni e tre notti, così starà il Figliuolo delluomo nel cuor della terra tre giorni e tre notti.
41 I Niniviti risorgeranno nel giudizio con questa generazione e la condanneranno, perché essi si ravvidero alla predicazione di Giona; ed ecco qui vi è più che Giona!
42 La regina del Mezzodì risusciterà nel giudizio con questa generazione e la condannerà; perché ella venne dalle estremità della terra per udir la sapienza di Salomone; ed ecco qui vè più che Salomone!
43 Or quando lo spirito immondo è uscito da un uomo, va attorno per luoghi aridi, cercando riposo e non lo trova.
44 Allora dice: Ritornerò nella mia casa donde sono uscito; e giuntovi, la trova vuota, spazzata e adorna.
45 Allora va e prende seco altri sette spiriti peggiori di lui, i quali, entrati, prendon quivi dimora; e lultima condizione di cotestuomo divien peggiore della prima. Così avverrà anche a questa malvagia generazione.
46 Mentre Gesù parlava ancora alle turbe, ecco sua madre e i suoi fratelli che, fermatisi di fuori, cercavano di parlargli.
47 E uno gli disse: Ecco, tua madre e i tuoi fratelli son la fuori che cercano di parlarti.
48 Ma egli, rispondendo, disse a colui che gli parlava: Chi è mia madre, e chi sono i miei fratelli?
49 E, stendendo la mano sui suoi discepoli, disse: Ecco mia madre e i miei fratelli!
50 Poiché chiunque avrà fatta la volontà del Padre mio che è ne cieli, esso mi è fratello e sorella e madre.
