16 And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: 17 Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.

16 Ruth antwortete: Rede mir nicht darein, daß ich dich verlassen sollte und von dir umkehren. Wo du hingehest, da will ich auch hingehen; wo du bleibest, da bleibe ich auch. Dein Volk ist mein Volk und dein GOtt ist mein GOtt.
17 Wo du stirbst, da sterbe ich auch; da will ich auch begraben werden. Der HErr tue mir dies und das: der Tod muß mich und dich scheiden.
