20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. 21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. 22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: 23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
24 The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.
15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
7 The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.
26 In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
