13 Come, now, you who say, Today, or to-morrow, we will go to such a city, and will abide there one year, and traffic in merchandise, and get gain;
14 who do not know what shall be to-morrow. For what is your life? It is, indeed, a smoke, which appears for a little while, and then vanishes away.
15 Instead of which, you ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
16 But now you boast in your proud speeches: all such boasting is evil.
17 Wherefore, to him who know how to do good, and does it not, to him it is sin.
10 For they, indeed, during a very few days, chastised us according to their pleasure; but he, for our advantage, that we might be partakers of his holiness.
11 Now, no chastisement, indeed, for the present, seems to be matter of joy, but of sorrow. Nevertheless, afterward it returns the peaceful fruit of righteousness to them who are trained by it.
14 And over all these put on love, which is a bond of perfection.
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts; to which also you are called in one body, and be thankful.
17 For, if any one be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new!
12 Not that I have already laid hold, or have already become perfect; but I press on, that, indeed, I may lay hold on that, for which, also, I was laid hold on by Christ Jesus.
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have laid hold of the prize; but one thing I do, forgetting the things behind, and stretching forth toward the things before,
14 I press on toward the mark, for the prize of the high calling of God, by Christ Jesus.
15 Let us, then, as many as would be perfect, be thus minded; and if in anything you think differently, God will reveal even this to you.
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have laid hold of the prize; but one thing I do, forgetting the things behind, and stretching forth toward the things before,
14 I press on toward the mark, for the prize of the high calling of God, by Christ Jesus.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to his great mercy, has regenerated us to a lively hope, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
