7 For every kind of animals, and of birds, and of reptiles, and of sea-animals, is tamed, and has been tamed by mankind.
8 But no one can tame the tongue, [it is] an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
15 In [being] slow to anger a ruler is won over, and a soft tongue breaks the bone.
3 The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, the tongue that speaks proud things,
4 that has said, With our tongue we shall do much; our lips [are] our own; who [is] lord over us?
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I have become [as] sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal.
21 Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue, and those who love it shall eat the fruit of it.
1 To the Chief Musician, to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. I said, I will take heed to my ways so that I do not sin with my tongue; I will keep my mouth with a bridle while the wicked [are] before me.
9 Therefore God has highly exalted Him, and has given Him a name [which is] above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of heavenly ones, and of earthly ones, and of ones under [the] earth;
11 and [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to [the] glory of God [the] Father.
2 For [in] many [things] we all offend. If anyone does not offend in word, the same [is] a full-grown man, able also to bridle the whole body.
36 But I say to you that every idle word, whatever men may speak, they shall give account of it in the day of judgment.
37 For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned.
9 Swallow up, O LORD, [and] divide their tongues; for I have seen violence and fighting in the city.
28 And my tongue shall speak of Your righteousness, of Your praise all the day long.
19 The lips of truth shall be established forever, but only] while I wink [is] a lying tongue.
18 There are those who speak like the thrusts of a sword, but the tongue of the wise heals.
19 In the multitude of words, sin is not lacking; but he who holds back his lips [is] wise.
26 If anyone thinks to be religious among you, [yet] does not bridle his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this one's religion [is] vain.
12 Who [is] the man that desires life, and loves days, that he may see good?
13 Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking guile.
4 For [there is] not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, You know it altogether.
2 Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue.
30 The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue talks of judgment.
31 The law of his God [is] in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.
28 Even a fool, when he [is] silent, is counted wise, and he who shuts his lips [is counted as] a man of understanding.
3 Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, so that they may obey us, and we turn about their whole body.
4 Behold also the ships being so great, and driven by fierce winds, yet they are turned about with a very small rudder, where the impulse of him steering desires.
5 Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. Behold how little a fire kindles how large a forest!
6 And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity. So the tongue is set among our members, spotting all the body and inflaming the course of nature, and being inflamed by hell.
9 By this we bless God, even [the] Father. And by this we curse men, who have come into being according to the image of God.
10 Out of the same mouth proceeds blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.
11 Does a fountain send forth at the same hole the sweet and the bitter?
12 Can the fig tree, my brothers, bear olive berries; or a vine, figs? So no fountain [can] yield both salt water and fresh.
5 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of Adam had built.
6 And the LORD said, Behold! The people [is] one and they all have one language. And this they begin to do. And now nothing which they have imagined to do will be restrained from them.
7 Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, so that they cannot understand one another's speech.
8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from that place upon the face of all the earth. And they quit building the city.
9 Therefore the name of it is called Babel; because the LORD confused the language of all the earth there. And from there the LORD scattered them abroad on the face of all the earth.
