1 Ó Deus, não te cales!
Não te emudeças,
nem fiques inativo, ó Deus!
2 Os teus inimigos se alvoroçam,
e os que te odeiam
levantam a cabeça.
3 Tramam astutamente
contra o teu povo
e conspiram
contra os teus protegidos.
4 Eles dizem:
"Venham, vamos riscá-los
da lista dos povos!
E que ninguém mais se lembre
do nome de Israel!"
5 Pois tramam de comum acordo
e firmam aliança contra ti.
6 São as tendas de Edom
e os ismaelitas,
Moabe e os hagarenos,
7 Gebal, Amom e Amaleque,
a Filístia com os habitantes de Tiro.
8 Também a Assíria se alia com eles,
e se constituem braço forte
aos filhos de Ló.
9 Faze com eles
como fizeste com Midiã,
como fizeste com Sísera
e com Jabim
no ribeiro de Quisom;
10 eles foram destruídos em En-Dor
e se tornaram adubo para a terra.
11 Sejam os seus nobres
como Orebe e como Zeebe,
e os seus príncipes,
como Zeba e como Salmuna,
12 que disseram:
"Vamos nos apoderar
das habitações de Deus."
13 Deus meu, faze-os como folhas
impelidas por um redemoinho,
como a palha que o vento leva.
14 Como o fogo devora um bosque
e as chamas incendeiam os montes,
15 assim persegue-os
com a tua tempestade
e amedronta-os
com o teu vendaval.
16 Cobre o rosto deles de vergonha,
para que busquem
o teu nome, Senhor.
17 Sejam envergonhados
e confundidos para sempre;
que pereçam
em completa desgraça.
18 Então reconhecerão que só tu,
cujo nome é Senhor,
és o Altíssimo sobre toda a terra.
1 Keep not you silence, O God: hold not your peace, and be not still, O God.
2 For, see, your enemies make a tumult: and they that hate you have lifted up the head.
3 They have taken crafty counsel against your people, and consulted against your hidden ones.
4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
5 For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against you:
6 The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;
7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
8 Assur also is joined with them: they have helped the children of Lot. Selah.
9 Do to them as to the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:
10 Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.
11 Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yes, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:
12 Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.
13 O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.
14 As the fire burns a wood, and as the flame sets the mountains on fire;
15 So persecute them with your tempest, and make them afraid with your storm.
16 Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek your name, O LORD.
17 Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yes, let them be put to shame, and perish:
18 That men may know that you, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, are the most high over all the earth.
