15 A rod and a reprimand impart wisdom, but a child left undisciplined disgraces its mother.
15 "Anyone who attacks "their father or mother is to be put to death.
1 A wise son heeds his father's instruction, but a mocker does not respond to rebukes.
8 Listen, my son, to your father's instruction and do not forsake your mother's teaching.
9 They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.
18 If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him,
19 his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town.
20 They shall say to the elders, "This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard."
21 Then all the men of his town are to stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid.
17 "The eye that mocks a father, that scorns an aged mother, will be pecked out by the ravens of the valley, will be eaten by the vultures.
20 My son, keep your father's command and do not forsake your mother's teaching.
21 Bind them always on your heart; fasten them around your neck.
22 When you walk, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; when you awake, they will speak to you.
23 For this command is a lamp, this teaching is a light, and correction and instruction are the way to life,
16 "Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
1 Listen, my sons, to a father's instruction; pay attention and gain understanding.
2 I give you sound learning, so do not forsake my teaching.
3 For I too was a son to my father, still tender, and cherished by my mother.
4 Then he taught me, and he said to me, "Take hold of my words with all your heart; keep my commands, and you will live.
5 Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them.
6 Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you.
6 Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
4 For God said, 'Honor your father and mother' "and 'Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.' [2]
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
2 "Honor your father and mother" —which is the first commandment with a promise —
3 "so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth." [1]
4 Fathers, "do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
4 But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God.
20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
