18 Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.
9 But Onan knew that the child would not be his; so whenever he slept with his brother's wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from providing offspring for his brother.
10 What he did was wicked in the LORD's sight; so the LORD put him to death also.
26 Then God said, "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, "and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground."
24 Then David comforted his wife Bathsheba, and he went to her and made love to her. She gave birth to a son, and they named him Solomon. The LORD loved him;
7 "'They must not marry women defiled by prostitution or divorced from their husbands, because priests are holy to their God.
3 The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband.
4 The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife.
14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.
14 Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.
4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.
15 Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.
27 People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.
3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table.
17 But the LORD inflicted serious diseases on Pharaoh and his household because of Abram's wife Sarai.
18 So Pharaoh summoned Abram. "What have you done to me?" he said. "Why didn't you tell me she was your wife?
6 His left arm is under my head, and his right arm embraces me.
2 "Rebuke your mother, rebuke her, for she is not my wife, and I am not her husband. Let her remove the adulterous look from her face and the unfaithfulness from between her breasts.
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her
26 to make her holy, cleansing "her by the washing with water through the word,
18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.
19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
21 So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs "and then closed up the place with flesh.
22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib "he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
23 The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman,' for she was taken out of man."
24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.
2 For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law that binds her to him.
3 So then, if she has sexual relations with another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress if she marries another man.
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her
26 to make her holy, cleansing "her by the washing with water through the word,
27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.
28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church —
30 for we are members of his body.
14 For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy.
10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers —and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine
3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people.
31 "It has been said, 'Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.' [6]
32 But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
1 Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. But she had an Egyptian slave named Hagar;
2 so she said to Abram, "The Lord has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my slave; perhaps I can build a family through her." Abram agreed to what Sarai said.
3 So after Abram had been living in Canaan ten years, Sarai his wife took her Egyptian slave Hagar and gave her to her husband to be his wife.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
2 But since sexual immorality is occurring, each man should have sexual relations with his own wife, and each woman with her own husband.
8 Now to the unmarried "and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I do.
9 But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
10 To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband.
11 But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife.
21 But Abijah grew in strength. He married fourteen wives and had twenty-two sons and sixteen daughters.
6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate."
19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;
20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions
21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
4 "Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' [1]
5 and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh' "?
6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate."
36 This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Because you poured out your lust and exposed your naked body in your promiscuity with your lovers, and because of all your detestable idols, and because you gave them your children's blood,
37 therefore I am going to gather all your lovers, with whom you found pleasure, those you loved as well as those you hated. I will gather them against you from all around and will strip you in front of them, and they will see you stark naked.
8 "When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited.
21 Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.
1 "Sing, barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband," says the LORD.
28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church —
30 for we are members of his body.
5 If a man has recently married, he must not be sent to war or have any other duty laid on him. For one year he is to be free to stay at home and bring happiness to the wife he has married.
1 Adam "made love to his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. "She said, "With the help of the LORD I have brought forth "a man."
25 Adam made love to his wife again, and she gave birth to a son and named him Seth, "saying, "God has granted me another child in place of Abel, since Cain killed him."
22 He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD.
2 Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth — for your love is more delightful than wine.
22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.
24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
3 It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality;
4 that each of you should learn to control your own body "in a way that is holy and honorable,
5 not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God;
3 The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband.
4 The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife.
5 Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
13 If a man takes a wife and, after sleeping with her, dislikes her
14 and slanders her and gives her a bad name, saying, "I married this woman, but when I approached her, I did not find proof of her virginity,"
15 then the young woman's father and mother shall bring to the town elders at the gate proof that she was a virgin.
16 Her father will say to the elders, "I gave my daughter in marriage to this man, but he dislikes her.
17 Now he has slandered her and said, 'I did not find your daughter to be a virgin.' But here is the proof of my daughter's virginity." Then her parents shall display the cloth before the elders of the town,
18 May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth.
19 A loving doe, a graceful deer — may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be intoxicated with her love.
14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
36 There was also a prophet, Anna, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage,
22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib "he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
23 The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman,' for she was taken out of man."
24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.
29 So is he who sleeps with another man's wife; no one who touches her will go unpunished.
9 Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.
29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife "or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.
4 They said, "Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and send her away."
5 "It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law," Jesus replied.
6 "But at the beginning of creation God 'made them male and female.' [1]
7 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, [2]
8 and the two will become one flesh.' "So they are no longer two, but one flesh.
9 Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate."
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her
26 to make her holy, cleansing "her by the washing with water through the word,
27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.
24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.
25 Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.
10 I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
5 Your breasts are like two fawns, like twin fawns of a gazelle that browse among the lilies.
9 You have stolen my heart, my sister, my bride; you have stolen my heart with one glance of your eyes, with one jewel of your necklace.
28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
7 You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.
9 In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.
29 "'This, then, is the law of jealousy when a woman goes astray and makes herself impure while married to her husband,
30 or when feelings of jealousy come over a man because he suspects his wife. The priest is to have her stand before the LORD and is to apply this entire law to her.
6 An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believe "and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.
27 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery.' [5]
28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
14 "Return, faithless people," declares the LORD, "for I am your husband. I will choose you —one from a town and two from a clan —and bring you to Zion.
1 Now for the matters you wrote about: "It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman."
2 But since sexual immorality is occurring, each man should have sexual relations with his own wife, and each woman with her own husband.
32 I would like you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the Lord's affairs —how he can please the Lord.
33 But a married man is concerned about the affairs of this world —how he can please his wife —
34 and his interests are divided. An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord's affairs: Her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit. But a married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world —how she can please her husband.
4 A wife of noble character is her husband's crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones.
7 Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
31 "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." [3]
13 "'The woman he marries must be a virgin.
14 He must not marry a widow, a divorced woman, or a woman defiled by prostitution, but only a virgin from his own people,
22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.
24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
31 "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." [3]
32 This is a profound mystery —but I am talking about Christ and the church.
33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
8 "'Do not have sexual relations with your father's wife; that would dishonor your father.
20 "'Do not have sexual relations with your neighbor's wife and defile yourself with her.
22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.
18 The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."
13 You say, "Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both." The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
14 By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also.
10 "'If a man commits adultery with another man's wife —with the wife of his neighbor —both the adulterer and the adulteress are to be put to death.
13 "'If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
9 Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun —all your meaningless days. For this is your lot in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun.
9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men [1]
10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor:
10 If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.
11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
7 Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
10 Then one of them said, "I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son." Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him.
11 Abraham and Sarah were already very old, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing.
12 So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, "After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?"
10 A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.
2 for true and just are his judgments. He has condemned the great prostitute who corrupted the earth by her adulteries. He has avenged on her the blood of his servants."
2 When the LORD began to speak through Hosea, the LORD said to him, "Go, marry a promiscuous woman and have children with her, for like an adulterous wife this land is guilty of unfaithfulness to the LORD."
22 He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD.
9 Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun —all your meaningless days. For this is your lot in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun.
17 "You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor."
22 He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD.
2 Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,
12 A deacon must be faithful to his wife and must manage his children and his household well.
32 But a man who commits adultery has no sense; whoever does so destroys himself.
33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
20 Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols.
10

24 "Teacher," they said, "Moses told us that if a man dies without having children, his brother must marry the widow and raise up offspring for him.
30 At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.
39 A woman is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, but he must belong to the Lord.
1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that does not occur even among pagans: A man has his father's wife.
2 And you are proud! Shouldn't you rather have been filled with grief and have put out of your fellowship the man who did this?
24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.
1 If a man marries a woman who becomes displeasing to him because he finds something indecent about her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house,
15 Has not the one God made you? You belong to him in body and spirit. And what does the one God seek? Godly offspring. "So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth.
16 "The man who hates and divorces his wife," says the LORD, the God of Israel, "does violence to the one he should protect," "says the LORD Almighty. So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful.
4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.
5 and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh' "?
6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate."
12 And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery."
33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.
14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
14 "You shall not commit adultery.
