After Johns disciples departed he told the crowd about John: »What did you go into the wilderness to find? Was it a reed shaken with the wind?
»What did you go to see, a man clothed in fancy clothes? Only kings dress in fancy clothes.
»What did you go out to see, a prophet? Yes I tell you and much more than a prophet.
»This is he of whom it is written, Behold I send my messenger before you. He will prepare a way before you.
»I say to you, of those who are born of women there is none greater than John. Yet he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.«
When the people heard, they acknowledged Gods justice. They received their baptism from John.
The Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the counsel of God and were not baptized by him.
