7 »Jehovah set his heart on you. He chose you, even though you did not outnumber all the other people. You were the smallest of all nations.
8 »You were chosen because Jehovah loved you and kept the oath he swore to your fathers. So he used his mighty hand to bring you out. He freed you from slavery under Pharaoh king of Egypt.
9 »Keep in mind that Jehovah your God is the only true God. He is the faithful God. He keeps his promise and is merciful to thousands of generations of those who love him and obey his commandments.
10 »He destroys everyone who hates him. He never takes long to pay back anyone who hates him.
11 »So obey the commandments, laws, and judgments I give you today.
12 »If you listen to these rules and faithfully obey them, Jehovah your God will keep his covenant with you and be merciful to you, as he swore to your fathers.
15 For this reason he is the mediator of a new covenant. A death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant. Those called may receive the promise of everlasting inheritance.
7 He is Jehovah our God: his judgments are in all the earth.
8 He has remembered his covenant forever! It is the word he commanded to a thousand generations.
9 He made this covenant with Abraham and gave his oath to Isaac.
5 If you will obey me and are faithful to the terms of my covenant, then out of all the nations you will be my own special possession, for all the earth is mine.
6 You will be my kingdom of priests and my holy nation. These are the words you must speak to the children of Israel.«
10 »Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,« says Jehovah. »I have compassion on you.«
8 God finds fault with his people and said to them: »The time is coming, says Jehovah, when I will draw up a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah. (Jeremiah 31:31)
9 »It will not be like the covenant that I made with their ancestors on the day I took them by the hand and led them out of Egypt. They were not faithful to the covenant I made with them, and so I paid no attention to them.
10 »This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, said Jehovah: I will put my teachings laws in their mind, I will write them upon their hearts deep thoughtunderstanding. I will be their God, and they will be my people. (Jeremiah 31:32)
11 »They will not teach a neighbor or brother saying: »Know Jehovah.« All will know me from the little one among them to the great among them. (Hosea 2:20)
12 »I will forgive their wickedness and I will remember their sins no more.«
25 In the same manner, after supper, he took the cup, saying, »This cup represents is the new covenant of my blood. Drink this as often as you do it in remembrance of me.«
6 Jesus has obtained a more excellent ministry. The covenant that he arranged between God and his people is a better one, because it is based on promises of better things.
7 »I will establish my covenant as a long lasting covenant between us. It will be for your descendants after you, for the generations to come. I will be your God and the God of your descendants after you.
8 »The whole land of Canaan, where you are now a guest alienforeignerstranger, I will give a long lasting possession to you and your descendants after you. I will be their God.«
9 Then God said to Abraham: »As for you, you must keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you for the generations to come.
10 »This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised.
11 »You are to undergo circumcision. It will be the sign of the covenant between us.
23 But Jehovah was kind to them and had pity on them, caring for them, because of his agreement with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He would not put them to destruction or send them away from his presence until now.
31 »Jehovah your God is a merciful God. He will not forsake you. He will not destroy you, nor forget the covenant he made with your fathers.
25 »You are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant that God made with our fathers. He said to Abraham: All the families of the earth will be blessed in your seed.
26 »God raised up his servant and sent him to you first. He sent him to bless you and to turn every one of you from your wicked ways.«
34 I will not dishonor my promise or alter my own agreement.
35 On my holiness I have taken an oath: I will not lie to David.
36 His descendants will last forever. His throne will be in my presence like the sun.
37 It shall be established forever like the moon. It will be like a faithful witness in heaven.
