27 »I tell you the truth, there are some here who shall not taste of death till they see the kingdom of God.«
28 About eight days after he said these things he took Peter, John and James, and went up into the mountain to pray.
29 While he prayed his appearance changed and his clothes became white and brilliant.
30 Moses and Elijah talked to him.
31 They appeared in glory and spoke about the death he was about to experience at Jerusalem.
38 The house of the ruler of the synagogue was filled with commotion. Many were weeping and wailing.
39 He entered and said: »Why all the commotion and why do you weep. The child is not dead but sleeps.«
40 They laughed him to scorn. He sent them all out of the house. Then he took the father, mother and his companions and went to the child.
41 He took the child by the hand and said to her: »Talitha cumi.« Which means when interpreted, »little girl I say to you arise.«
42 Immediately the twelve-year old girl rose up and walked. And they were promptly amazed with a great amazement.
27 Jesus left that place and walked along the road. Two blind men followed him. They shouted: »Have mercy on us, Son of David!«
28 He went into a nearby house. The blind men followed him. Jesus asked them: »Do you believe that I can heal you?« They said: »Yes Lord.«
29 He touched their eyes. »Let it be done,« he said, »according to your faith.«
30 Their eyes were opened. Jesus strictly warned them: »Do not let anyone know about this.«
31 They spread the news about Jesus all over that part of the country.
12 One time while he was in one of the cities a man full of leprosy fell on his face before Jesus. He said: »Lord, if you want to you can make me clean.«
13 He stretched forth his hand and touched him, saying: »I want to, be made clean.« Immediately the leprosy departed from him.
32 Jesus called his disciples and said: »I feel compassion for the people, because they have remained with me now three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, for they might faint on the way.«
33 The disciples replied: »Where would we get so many loaves in this desolate place to satisfy such a large crowd?«
34 Jesus asked: »How many loaves do you have?« They said: »Seven, and a few small fish.«
35 He told the people to sit down on the ground.
36 He took the seven loaves and the fish and offered a prayer of thanksgiving. Then he broke them and gave them to the disciples. The disciples gave them to the people.
37 They all ate and were satisfied. When they picked up what was left over of the broken pieces, there were seven large baskets full.
38 Four thousand men, besides women and children were fed.
11 »But you say: If a man says to his father or his mother that which would benefit you is a gift to God,
12 he no longer has to do anything for his father or mother.
13 »You make the word of God invalid by your tradition.«
14 He called the crowd again and said: »Listen and understand!
15 »Nothing that goes into a person from the outside can make him unclean. That which comes from inside of a man can make him unclean.
2 A leper came to him and bowed down before him, saying: »Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean.«
3 He reached out his hand and touched him, saying: »I want to. Be made clean.« Right away his leprosy was cleansed.
4 Jesus told him not to tell anyone. »Show yourself to the priests and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.«
1 After he taught the people he went to Capernaum.
2 A centurions servant, who was highly regarded by him, was sick and at the point of death.
3 When he heard about him he contacted Jesus through the Jewish elders. He asked him to come and save his servant.
4 They came to Jesus and earnestly pleaded with him saying: »He is worthy and you should do this for him.
5 »He loves our nation and he also built our synagogue for us.«
6 Jesus went with them. As he approached the house, the centurion sent friends to him saying, »Lord do not trouble yourself. I am not worthy that you should come under my roof.
7 »I am also not worthy to come to you. Just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
8 »I also am a man with much authority. I am in charge of soldiers and say to this one go and he goes and to another I say come and he comes. I tell my servant to do this and he does it.«
9 Jesus heard this and marveled at him. He turned to the crowd and said, »I tell you I find no greater faith in Israel.«
10 When the messengers returned to the house they found the servant in good health.
15 Evening came and the disciples approached Jesus and said: »This place is desolate. Send the people away so they may go to the villages and buy themselves food.«
16 Jesus told them: »They have no need to go away: you feed them.«
17 They remarked: »We have only five loaves, and two fishes.«
18 »Bring them to me,« Jesus replied.
19 He commanded the crowd to sit down on the grass. Then he prayed. He gave the five loaves and two fishes to the disciples to distribute to the crowd.
20 And they all had plenty to eat. In fact they had twelve baskets full of food left over.
21 About five thousand men, plus women and children ate.
24 After Johns disciples departed he told the crowd about John: »What did you go into the wilderness to find? Was it a reed shaken with the wind?
25 »What did you go to see, a man clothed in fancy clothes? Only kings dress in fancy clothes.
26 »What did you go out to see, a prophet? Yes I tell you and much more than a prophet.
27 »This is he of whom it is written, Behold I send my messenger before you. He will prepare a way before you.
28 »I say to you, of those who are born of women there is none greater than John. Yet he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.«
29 When the people heard, they acknowledged Gods justice. They received their baptism from John.
30 The Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the counsel of God and were not baptized by him.
19 They rowed about four miles and saw Jesus walking on the sea. He came close to the boat. They were afraid.
20 He said to them: »It is I. Do not be afraid!«
21 They eagerly brought him into the boat. The boat soon arrived at the land where they were going.
1 Shortly after that he went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees. They were there to eat on the Sabbath. They watched him.
2 There was in his presence a man who had the dropsy swollen arms and legs.
3 Jesus spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees: »Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath, or not?«
4 They did not speak. So he held the man and healed him and let him go.
22 He said to his disciples: »Let us go to the other side of the lake.« Then he and his disciples boarded a boat and did so.
23 Jesus fell asleep as they sailed to the other side. A large windstorm came to the lake. The boat was filling with water, and they were in danger.
24 They awoke him saying: »Master, Master, we parish!« He rebuked the wind and the raging of the water and there was calm.
25 He asked them, »Were is your faith?« They were afraid and they marveled. They asked: »Who then is this, that he commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him?«
24 Jesus went to the territory of Tyre and Sidon. He did not want anyone to know that he was staying in a house there. However it could not be kept a secret.
25 A woman whose little daughter had an evil spirit heard about Jesus. She went to him and bowed down.
26 The woman was a Greek Syrophoenician by race. She wanted him to drive out the demon out of her daughter.
27 He said to her: »Let the children be fed first. It is not proper to take the childrens bread and cast it to the dogs.«
28 She answered: »Yes Lord, even the dogs under the table eat from the childrens crumbs.«
29 Then he replied: »Thanks to your answer you may leave for the demon has gone out of your daughter.«
30 She went to her house and found the child on the bed with the demon gone.
22 Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue, saw Jesus and fell at his feet.
23 He pleaded with him saying: »My little daughter is at the point of death. Please come and lay your hands on her that she will be healed and live.«
24 Jesus went with him. A great crowd followed him and they pressed very close to him.
22 They arrived at Bethsaida. A blind man was brought to him with the request to touch him.
23 He held the blind mans hand and led him out of the village. Then he spit on his eyes and laid his hands on him. He asked him: »Do you see?«
24 He answered: »I see men. They look like trees walking.«
25 He laid his hands on his eyes again and his vision was fully restored, he saw everything clearly.
26 He sent him to his home saying: »Do not enter into the village.«
29 A great crowd followed him when they departed from Jericho.
30 Two blind men sitting by the side of the road heard Jesus pass by and cried out: »Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!«
31 The crowd told them to be quiet. But they cried even more, saying: »Have mercy on us, O Lord, you Son of David!«
32 Jesus stood still and asked them: »What do you want me to do to you?«
33 They said: »Lord give us our sight.«
34 Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Now they could see! So they followed him.
10 There he saw a man who had a withered hand. They asked him if it is lawful to heal on the Sabbath day? They wanted to accuse him.
11 He said to them: »Which of you having one sheep, if this sheep fell into a pit on the Sabbath day, will not get it and lift it out.
12 »How much more value is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath day!«
13 Then he said to the man: »Stretch out your hand.« He stretched it out and it was restored whole like the other.
23 Suddenly in the synagogue there was a man with an unclean spirit. He screamed:
24 »What do you want with us Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are. You are the Holy One of God!«
25 Jesus rebuked the spirit by saying: »Be quiet, and come out of him!«
26 The evil spirit shook the man hard, gave a loud scream, and came out of him.
14 When they approached the people, a man fell to his knees before him, saying:
15 »Lord, have mercy on my son. He has mental problems and is in great pain. He frequently falls into the fire and into the water.
16 »I took him to your disciples, and they were not able to make him well.«
17 Jesus answered: »You unbelieving and perverted generation, how long will I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him to me.«
18 Jesus ordered the unclean spirit to leave the boy. It left him and the boy was made well immediately.
2 A man on a bed, a paralytic, was brought to Jesus. Seeing their faith Jesus said to the sick man: »Have courage; your sins are forgiven.«
3 Some of the scribes said among themselves: »This man has no respect for God.«
4 Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said: »Why are your thoughts evil?
5 »Which is easier, to say, your sins are forgiven, or to say, get up and walk?«
6 So that you know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins he turned and spoke to the paralytic or paralyzed man: »Get up, take your bed and go to your house.«
7 He arose, and departed to his house.
23 Jesus went into the officials house and saw flute players and the crowd making a lot of noise.
24 He told them to leave: »For the girl is not dead, but sleeps.« They all scornfully laughed at him.
25 The people were sent away. He went to the girl, took hold of her hand, and she got up.
17 One of the people answered him: »Teacher I brought my son who is unable to talk because of a spirit.
18 »The spirit seizes him and slams him down. He foams at the mouth and grinds his teeth. I asked your disciples to cast it out but they could not do it.«
19 Jesus then said: »O faithless generation. How long will I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him to me.«
20 They brought the boy to him. Suddenly the spirit threw him into convulsions. He fell on the ground rolled around and foamed at the mouth.
21 Jesus asked his father: »How long has this been going on?« He said: »Since he was a child.«
22 Often it casts him into the fire and into the water to destroy him. If you can do anything have compassion on us and help us.
23 Jesus said to him: »All things are possible to him who has faith.«
24 Both father and child immediately shouted: »I have faith make my faith stronger.«
25 When Jesus saw the people he ordered the unclean spirit to come out of him. He commanded the spirit that caused the loss of voice and hearing to leave and never return to him.
26 The spirit cried out and shook the child violently. It came out and the child became like a dead person. Most of them said: »He is dead.«
27 Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up.
27 When he arrived on the shore, a demon-possessed man met him. He wore no clothes and did not live in a house but in the tombs. He had been this way a long time.
28 When he saw Jesus he cried out and fell down in front of him. He shouted in a loud voice: »What have I to do with you, Jesus, you Son of the Most High God? I implore you do not torment me.«
29 The spirit seized him many times. For this reason he was kept under guard, and bound with chains and fetters. Breaking the bands apart, he was driven by the demon into the deserts. Jesus commanded the unclean spirit to come out from the man!
30 Jesus asked him: »What is your name?« He answered: »Legion« for many demons had entered into him.
31 They pleaded with him that he would not command them to depart into the abyss.
32 There was a herd of many swine feeding on the mountain. They entreated him that he would allow them to enter into them. He gave them permission.
33 The demons came out from the man and entered into the swine. The herd rushed down the hill into the lake, and was drowned.
34 The herdsmen saw what happened and rushed to the city to tell others.
35 They went out to see what happened. They came to Jesus and found the man who had been demon possessed. He was clothed, in his right mind and sitting at the feet of Jesus. They were afraid.
20 They passed by in the morning and saw the fig tree withered away from the roots.
21 Peter remembered and said: »Teacher look, the fig tree that you cursed is withered away.«
22 Jesus answered: »Have faith in God.
23 »Truly I say faithful ones shall say to this mountain, be cast into the sea and it will happen. There must be no doubt in his heart and he must believe that what he says will come to pass.
24 »I tell you, believe that you receive what you pray for and you shall have it.
25 »When you say a prayer have forgiveness in your heart. Forgive anything you have against anyone so that your Heavenly Father will forgive you your sins.«
1 He entered the Synagogue again. There was a man there whose hand was withered.
2 They watched to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath day. Then they might have something against him.
3 He said to the man: »Get up and come forward.«
4 Then he asked the Pharisees, »Is it right to do good on the Sabbath or to do evil? Is it right to give life or to put to death?« But they said nothing.
5 He looked at them and was angry. He was also sad on account of their hard hearts. He said to the man: »Stretch out your hand.« He stretched it out and his hand was healed.
5 When he entered Capernaum, a centurion captain of one hundred men approached him.
6 He said: »Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home and terribly tormented.«
7 Jesus said to him: »I will come and heal him.«
8 The centurion replied to Jesus: »Lord, I am not worthy that you come under my roof. Say the word and my servant will be healed.
9 »I also am a man having authority and commanding soldiers. I say to this one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it.«
10 When Jesus heard it, he was amazed, and said to the crowd: »I tell you, I have not found such great faith in Israel.
11 »I tell you, many will come from the east and the west, to sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven:
12 »but the sons of the kingdom will be cast forth into the outer darkness: there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.«
13 Jesus said to the centurion: »Go. Just as you believe, so it will be done to you.« The servant was healed in that hour.
50 One of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.
51 Jesus said: »Do not do any more of this.« Then he touched his ear and healed him.
32 Next, a dumb man possessed with a demon was brought to him.
33 When the demon was cast out, the dumb man spoke. The crowd marveled, saying: »We have never seen anything like this in Israel!«
12 The next day they left Bethany. He was hungry.
13 He saw a fig tree far off. When he got closer he found nothing but leaves for it was not the season of figs.
14 He spoke about the tree that no man would ever eat fruit from it from that day forward.
24 They arrived at Capernaum. The collectors of the two-drachma tax asked Peter: »Does your master make payment of the Temple tax?
25 He said: »Yes.« When he entered the house, Jesus said to him: »What is your opinion, Simon? Who pays the tax assessed by the kings of the earth? Is it from their sons or from other people?«
26 When he said: »From other people,« Jesus replied: »Are the sons free of tax?
27 »We will not cause them trouble. Go to the sea, and let down a hook, and take the first fish you catch. You will see money a stater coin in its mouth. Give it to them for me and for you.«
18 While he was speaking, an official came and paid him respect. He said: »By now my daughter must be dead. Come and lay your hand on her and she will live.«
19 Jesus and his disciples got up and followed him.
41 Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue came to Jesus. He fell down at Jesus feet and implored him to come to his house.
42 His twelve-year old daughter was dying. She was his only daughter. As he went the crowds surrounded him.
37 A great windstorm came up and the waves came into the boat.
38 He was in back of the boat sleeping on a cushion. They woke him. They said: »Master is it nothing to you that we are in danger of destruction?«
39 He awoke from sleep and commanded the wind and sea. He commanded the sea to be at peace and rest. And he commanded the wind to go down and there was a great calm.
40 He said: »Why are you full of fear? Do you have no faith?«
41 Their fear was great. They said to themselves: »Who is this, that even the wind and the sea obey his orders?«
43 There was a woman having an issue of blood twelve years. She spent all her money on physicians, and could not be healed by any.
44 She came behind him and touched the border of his garment. Immediately the issue of blood stopped.
45 Jesus said: »Who touched me?« Peter and the others with him said: »Master, the people press in from all sides.«
46 Jesus said: »Someone did touch me. I perceived that power went from me.«
47 When the woman knew she was discovered she trembled, fell down before him and declared in the presence of all the people why she touched him, and how she was healed immediately.
48 He said to her: »Daughter, your faith has made you whole; go in peace.«
22 Someone possessed with a demon, blind and dumb was brought to him. He healed him and the dumb man spoke and could see.
46 They arrived at Jericho. He left there with his disciples and a large crowd. A blind beggar named Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the side of the road.
47 When he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he cried: »Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me!«
48 Many rebuked him that he should keep quiet. However he cried out even more: »You son of David have mercy on me.«
49 Jesus stood still and said: »You call him.« They called the blind man saying to him, »Be of good cheer: rise, he calls you.«
50 Setting aside his garment, he sprang up, and came to Jesus.
51 Jesus responded to him: »What do you want me to do for you?« The blind man said to him: »Teacher I want to receive my sight!«
52 Jesus told him: »Go your way; your faith has made you whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed him in the way.«
35 He came closer to Jericho where a blind man sat begging by the side or the road.
36 Hearing a crowd go by, he inquired what this meant.
37 They told him: »Jesus of Nazareth passed by.«
38 He cried out: »Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me!«
39 They rebuked him and said he should keep quiet. But he cried out even more: »You son of David, have mercy on me!«
40 Jesus commanded that he be brought to him. When he was near he spoke to him.
41 What do you want me to do to you? He said: »Lord, give me my sight!«
42 And Jesus said to him: »Receive your sight! Your faith has made you whole.«
43 Immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God. All the people who saw it praised God.
28 When he arrived at the other side of the lake in the country of the Gadarenes two men possessed by demons came to him from out of the tombs. They were extremely violent, so no man could pass by that way.
29 They screamed at him, saying: »What have we to do with you, Son of God? Have you come to torment us before the time?«
30 A large herd of swine was feeding in the distance.
31 The demons pleaded with him: »If you cast us out, send us into the herd of swine!«
32 He told them to go. And they came out, and went into the swine. The entire herd rushed down the hill into the sea, where they perished in the waters.
33 The herdsmen fled to the city to tell everything that happened to the swine that were possessed with demons.
34 Everyone in the city came out to meet Jesus. They begged him to go away from their country.
23 When he entered a boat, his disciples followed him.
24 Suddenly a storm blew in and the boat was covered with waves. Jesus was asleep.
25 And they came to him, woke him, and cried: »Save us, Lord, or we will perish.«
26 He said to them: »Why are you afraid, you of little faith?« Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the sea. Suddenly there was a great calm.
27 The disciples were in awe. They asked: »What kind of man is this, for even the winds and the sea obey him?«
25 There was a woman who had an issue of blood twelve years.
26 She suffered treatment from many physicians but did not become better. She spent all her money and grew worse.
27 Hearing about Jesus she came though the crowd and touched his garment.
28 She said: »If I touch his garments I shall be made whole.«
29 Immediately the flow of her blood dried up. She felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction.
11 A woman had an evil spirit that kept her sick for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not stand straight.
12 Jesus called to her: »Woman you are free from your sickness!«
13 He touched her and at once she stood straight up and praised God.
6 He entered into the synagogue on the Sabbath and taught. There was a man there whose right hand was withered.
7 The scribes and the Pharisees watched to see if he would heal on the Sabbath. They looked for a way to accuse him.
8 He knew their thoughts. So he said to the man that had the withered hand: »Stand up and come here.« He arose and stepped forward.
9 Jesus said: »I ask you, is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm? Is it lawful to save a life, or to destroy it?«
10 He looked around at everyone and said to the man: »Stretch out your hand.« And he did so and his hand was restored.
1 They traveled to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gerasenes.
2 Just as he got out of the boat a man with an unclean spirit came to him from the tombs.
3 He was living in the tombs. No man was able to bind him even with a chain.
4 Often he was bound in chains and iron bands but he would break them. No man was strong enough to keep him still.
5 Day and night in the tombs and in the mountains he cried out. He would cut himself with stones.
6 He saw Jesus from far off and quickly approached and bowed down before him.
7 Crying out with a loud voice, he said: »What have I to do with you, Jesus, Son of the highest God? In Gods name do not torment me!«
8 Jesus commanded: »Come out of the man you unclean spirit!«
9 Then Jesus said: »What is your name?« He answered: »My name is Legion because there are a great number of us.«
10 He earnestly implored him not to send the spirits away out of the country.
11 There was a large herd of pigs feeding on the mountainside.
12 They pleaded with Jesus: »Send us into the pigs!«
13 He let them do it. Then the unclean spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd went rushing down a sharp slope into the sea. About two thousand of them died in the sea.
14 Their keepers ran off to the town to tell others what happened. People came to see what had taken place.
32 Peter and his companions were very sleepy. When they awoke they saw his brilliance and the two men that stood with him.
33 Before they left Peter said to Jesus: »Master it is good for us to be here. Let us make three tabernacles. We could make one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.« He did not know what he was saying.
They asked: »Who then is this, that he commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him?«
26 They arrived at the country of the Gerasenes, which is near Galilee.
18 Men brought a man on a bed. He was paralyzed. They tried to bring him in and lay him before Jesus.
19 They could not find a way to bring him in because of the crowd. So they went up to the housetop and let the man and the bed down through the tiles to Jesus.
20 Seeing their faith, Jesus said: »Man your sins are forgiven you.«
21 The scribes and the Pharisees reasoned saying: »Who is this that speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?«
22 Jesus perceived their reasoning and said to them: »Why do you reason in your hearts?
23 »Which is easier to say your sins are forgiven or arise and walk?
24 »So you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins,« he said to the man who was paralyzed, »I say to you, arise, take up your bed and go to your house.«
25 Immediately he rose up before them, took his bed and departed to his house, glorifying God.
25 Just before morning, Jesus walked to them on the water.
1 It was one of those days when there was a great crowd of people. They had nothing to eat so he called his disciples.
2 Jesus said: »I am concerned for these people because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat.
3 »If I send them away to their houses with no food they will be weak and faint. Some of them have a long way to go.«
4 His disciples answered, »How could we get enough bread in this desolate place?«
5 Jesus responded: »How much bread do you have?« They said: »Seven loaves.«
6 He made the people sit on the ground. Then he took the seven loaves and gave thanks. He gave the broken bread to his disciples and they served the people.
7 They had some small fish. After blessing them he had them serve the people in the same way.
8 After eating they picked up seven baskets full of food.
9 About four thousand ate. Then he sent them away.
31 »To whom or what should I compare the men of this generation?
32 They are like children that sit in the marketplace and call to each other. We played the flute for you but you did not dance. We wailed and you did not weep.
33 »John the Baptist came fasting and drinking no wine and you say he has a demon.
34 »The Son of man came eating and drinking, and you say look he is a gluttonous man, and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!
35 »All her children vindicate wisdom.«
36 One of the Pharisees asked him to dine with him. He went to the Pharisees house and sat down to eat.
37 A sinful woman went to the Pharisees house. She brought an alabaster vase filled with ointment.
40 A man with leprosy knelt in front of Jesus and begged to be healed. »If you want to, you can make me well,« he said.
41 Moved with compassion Jesus touched him. »I want to,« he said. »Be healed!«
42 Instantly the leprosy disappeared and man was healed.
11 Jesus traveled to Jerusalem. He went along the border between Samaria and Galilee.
12 Entering a village he met ten men suffering from a dreaded skin disease.
13 They shouted: »Jesus! Master! Have pity on us!«
14 When he saw them he told them to go show themselves to the priests. They were cleansed on the way.
15 When he was healed, one of them came back and praised God in a loud voice.
16 He fell on his face at Jesus feet and thanked him. He was a Samaritan.
17 Jesus answered: »Were all ten cleansed? Where are the nine?
18 »Were the others not willing to return with this foreigner to give glory to God?
19 He said: »Arise and go your way. Your faith has made you whole.«
46 Jesus returned to Cana of Galilee where he turned the water into wine. There was a nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47 He heard that Jesus came from Judea into Galilee. He went to him and urged him to come see his son. His son was near death.
48 »Until you see signs and wonders you will not believe,« Jesus said.
49 The nobleman said: »Sir, come or my child would die.«
50 Jesus replied: »Go your way. Your son lives!« The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way.
51 His servants met him as he returned and said: »Your son is alive!«
52 He asked them about the hour he was healed. They said: »Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.«
53 The father knew that it was the same hour in which Jesus said: »Your son lives.« He and his entire household believed.
54 This is the second miracle that Jesus did when he came out of Judea into Galilee.
49 While he yet spoke someone came from the ruler of the synagogues house saying: »Your daughter is dead do not trouble the teacher.«
50 When Jesus heard this he said: »Do not fear, only believe and she will be made whole.«
51 When he arrived at the house he allowed only the mother and father of the girl, Peter, John and James to enter with him.
52 They were all weeping and morning her. He said: »Do not weep for she is not dead, but sleeps.«
53 They laughed him to scorn knowing that she was dead.
54 He took her hand and called: »Maiden, arise.«
55 Her life force returned and she rose up immediately. He commanded that something be given her to eat.
56 Her parents were amazed. He charged them to tell no man what had been done.
1 He saw a man who was blind from birth.
2 His disciples asked him: »Rabbi he was born blind. Who sinned, this man or his parents?«
3 Jesus answered: »This man did not sin. Neither did his parents sin. The works of God should be made known in him.
4 »We must work the works of him that sent me while it is day. When the night comes no man can work.
5 »When I am in the world, I am the light of the world.«
6 He spat on the ground and made clay of the spittle. Then he anointed the eyes of the blind with the clay.
7 He told him: »Go wash in the pool of Siloam.« He went there and washed. And he could see!
1 A man named Lazarus was sick. He lived at Bethany where his sisters Mary and Martha lived.
2 This is the same Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair. It was her brother Lazarus who was sick.
3 The sisters therefore sent for the Lord, They said: »The one for whom you have great affection is sick.«
4 When Jesus heard it he said: »This sickness will not end in death. It is for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified by it.«
5 Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
6 When he heard the news he stayed where he was for two days.
7 After this he said to the disciples: »Let us go to Judea again.«
8 The disciples said: »Rabbi, the Jews were seeking to stone you and you go there?«
9 Jesus answered: »Are there not twelve hours in the day? If a man walks in the day he does not stumble because he sees the light of this world.
10 »But if a man walk in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.«
11 Then he told them: »Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep. I go to wake him out of sleep.«
12 The disciples said, »Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he would recover.«
13 Jesus spoke of his death. They thought he spoke of taking rest in sleep.
14 Then Jesus said plainly: »Lazarus is dead!«
18 He was hungry in the morning when he returned to the town.
19 He saw a fig tree along the side of the road. He went to it and saw nothing on it but leaves. He told it: »You will not bare fruit from this time forward, forever.« Immediately the fig tree became dry and dead.
20 The disciples were surprised when they saw it. They asked how the fig tree became dry so quickly?
21 Jesus answered: »If you have faith and do not doubt, I make this promise to you: You will be able to do what was done to this fig tree. When you say to this mountain, be moved into the sea, it will be done.
22 »You will receive the things you ask for in prayer when you have faith.«
1 Jesus stood by the Lake of Gennesaret as the crowds pressed in upon him in order to hear the word of God.
2 He saw two boats docked by the shore. The fishermen had gone away from them and were washing their nets.
3 He boarded one of the boats. It was Simons boat. He asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat.
4 When he finished speaking he asked Simon to put into deep water and let down the nets for a catch.
5 Simon answered, Master we worked all night and caught nothing. At your word I will let down the nets.
6 When they did this they caught a large number of fish and their nets were breaking.
7 They called their partners in the other boat to come and help them. They filled both boats until they began to sink.
8 When Simon Peter saw this he fell down at Jesus knees. He said: »Depart from me for I am a sinful man, O Lord.«
9 He and all who were with him were amazed at the catch of fish.
10 So were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. Jesus said to Simon: »Do not fear. From now on you will catch men.«
11 After they brought their boats to land they left all and followed him.
1 There was a marriage in Cana of Galilee on the third day. The mother of Jesus was there.
2 Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the marriage feast.
3 They ran out of wine. So the mother of Jesus said to him: »They have no wine.«
4 Jesus said to her: »Woman what have I to do with you? My hour has not arrived.«
5 His mother told the servants to do whatever he says.
6 Six stone water jars were placed there to honor purification rules of the Jews. Each contained more than twenty gallons.
7 Jesus said to them: »Fill the jars with water.« They filled them to the brim.
8 »Draw some out,« he said, »and take it to the master of the feast.« So they drew some out.
9 The master of the feast did not know about the water turned into wine. He tasted it and called the bridegroom.
10 He said to him: »Every man sets out the good wine first. When the men have drunk freely the lower quality wine is served. You have kept the good wine until now.«
11 This was the first miracle Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee. It gave evidence of his glory and his disciples believed in him.
35 Late in the day his disciples approached him. They said: »The day is almost over and we are in a secluded place.
36 »Send them away that they may go to the country and villages nearby and buy themselves something to eat.«
37 He replied: »You give them food to eat.« They asked: »Should we buy two hundred shillings worth of bread to feed them?«
38 He said« »Find out how many loaves you have? When they knew they said« »Five loaves and two fishes.«
39 He commanded them to sit down by groups upon the green grass.
40 They sat down in groups of hundreds, and fifties.
41 Then he looked up to heaven and blessed the food. He took the five loaves and the two fishes, and broke the loaves into pieces and gave them to his disciples. He also divided the two fishes. He gave the food to his disciples to serve to the people.
42 They all ate and were filled.
43 They collected twelve baskets full of broken pieces of bread and fishes.
44 Five thousand men ate.
1 Jesus showed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias. He presented himself this way.
2 There were together Simon Peter; Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.
3 Simon Peter said to them: »I am going fishing.« They told him: »We would also come with you.« They boarded the boat and caught nothing that night.
4 Jesus stood on the beach at daybreak. The disciples did not know it was Jesus.
5 Jesus said to them: »Children, have you anything to eat?« They answered him: »No.«
6 He said: »Cast the net on the right side of the boat and you will find fish.« They cast it and they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.
7 That disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter: »It is the Lord.« So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he wrapped his coat about him for he was dressed only in undergarments, and jumped into the sea.
8 The other disciples came in the little boat for they were not far from the land, but about one hundred yards away, dragging the net full of fishes.
9 When they got to land, they saw a fire of coals and fish laid on it, and bread.
10 Jesus said: »Bring the fish you caught.«
11 Simon Peter went to draw the net to land. It was full of great fishes, a hundred and fifty three in all. There were so many and yet the net was not torn.
38 A man in the crowd cried, »Teacher, please look at my son. He is my only child.
39 »A spirit controls him and suddenly he cries out. He foams at the mouth. It throws him into convulsions and he is badly bruised.
40 »I asked your disciples to cast it out and they could not.«
41 Jesus answered: »O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and put up with you? Bring your son to me.«
42 When he came near the demon slammed him down and through him in to a convulsion. Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the boy and gave him back to his father.
43 They were all overwhelmed by the greatness of God. Everyone marveled at all the things he did. Jesus said to his disciples:
3 Men came to him carrying a paralyzed man.
4 They could not bring him to Jesus because of the crowd. So they removed the roof over the place where Jesus was. Then they lowered the cot on which the paralyzed man was lying.
5 When Jesus saw their faith, he told the man: »Friend your sins are forgiven.«
6 Some of the scribes sitting there reasoned in their hearts:
7 »Why does this man speak this way? He blasphemes for only God is the one who can forgive sins.«
8 Jesus immediately discerned in his spirit that they reasoned within themselves. He asked them: »Why reason these things in your hearts?
9 »Which is easier to say to the sick man your sins are forgiven or take your bed and walk?
10 »So you may see that the Son of man has authority to forgive sins on earth,« he said to the man:
11 »Get up and take your bed, and go to your house.«
12 He got up, took the bed and went out before them all. They were all filled with wonder. They gave glory to God and said we have never seen anything like this.
30 Simons mother-in-law was in bed with a fever. At once they told Jesus about her.
31 He took her by the hand and helped her sit up. The fever suddenly left. So she got up and prepared a meal for them.
21 Jesus went away from there into the country of Tyre and Sidon.
22 A woman of Canaan came crying and saying: »Have pity on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is greatly troubled with an unclean spirit.«
23 He did not answer her. His disciples said to him: »Send her away; she keeps shouting at us.«
24 He answered: »I was sent only to the wandering sheep of the house of Israel.«
25 She bowed down before him and asked for help.
26 He said: »It is not right to take the childrens bread and give it to the dogs.«
27 She said: »Yes, Lord; but even the dogs take the scraps from under their masters table.«
28 »O woman,« Jesus replied, »your faith is great! Let your desire be done.« And her daughter was made well from that hour.
31 He left the borders of Tyre through Sidon, through the region of Decapolis to the Sea of Galilee.
32 They brought a deaf man with an impediment in his speech to him and asked him to lay his hands on him.
33 Jesus took him aside from the crowd privately, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spat, and touched his tongue.
34 Looking up to heaven he sighed and said to him: »Ephphatha, that is, be opened.«
35 His ears were opened. His tongue was freed and he spoke plainly.
36 Jesus told them not to tell anyone. The more he told them not to talk the more they talked.
37 They were beside themselves with amazement saying: He makes even the deaf hear and the dumb speak.
38 He left the synagogue and went to Simons house. Simons mother in law was suffering with a great fever. They asked him to help her.
39 He stood over her and rebuked the fever. It left her and immediately she rose up and ministered to them.
12 As the day wore on the twelve came to him and said: »Send the people away, that they may go into the villages and country nearby to find lodging and get food, for we are here in a lonely place.«
13 He said to them: »You feed them.« They replied: »We have no more than five loaves and two fishes unless we should go and buy food for all these people.«
14 There were about five thousand men. He said to his disciples, make them sit down in groups of about fifty each.
15 They did so, and made them all sit down.
16 He took the five loaves and the two fishes. Looking up to heaven, he blessed them and broke the bread. Then he gave them to the disciples to pass out to the crowd.
17 They ate and were all filled. Twelve baskets of left over pieces remained.
20 A woman who had a hemorrhage chronic flow of blood for twelve years came behind him. She touched the border of his garment.
21 She said to herself: »If I touch his garment, I will be healed.«
22 Jesus turned to see her and said: »Daughter, take courage; your faith has made you well.« The woman was healed at that time.
48 He saw that they were tired of rowing for the wind was against them. It was the fourth watch of the night. He walked on the sea and was about to pass them.
49 When they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a spirit an illusion and screamed.
50 They all saw him and were troubled. Suddenly he spoke to them: »Be of good cheer. It is I do not fear.«
51 He entered the boat and the wind ceased. They were truly amazed.
14 He cast out a demon from a dumb man. When the demon left the man he spoke and the crowds were astonished.
1 After this the Jews had a Festival holy day, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2 There is a pool by the sheep-market gate at Jerusalem. It is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethzatha. It has five porches colonnades.
3 In these lay a great crowd of sick people, of blind and lame waiting for the water to bubble up.
4 Not in older manuscripts.
5 A man who had an infirmity for thirty-eight years was present.
6 Jesus saw him lying there. He knew that he had been sick for a long time. So he asked him: »Do you want to get well?«
7 The sick man replied: »I have no man to put me in the pool when the water is stirred. Others step down before I can go.«
8 Jesus said: »Arise pick up your bed and walk.«
9 Immediately the man was made whole. He picked up his bed and walked. It happened on the Sabbath day.
6 He said this to test him for he knew what he would do.
7 Philip answered: »Two hundred shillings worth of bread is not sufficient for everyone to take a little.«
8 Andrew, Simon Peters brother, one of his disciples said:
9 »There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two fish. What are these among so many?«
10 Jesus said: »Make the people sit down.« There were about five thousand men who sat down on the grass.
11 Jesus gave thanks and then he distributed the loaves along with the fish to those sitting on the grass.
12 When they were filled he told the disciples to gather up the broken pieces left over so nothing would be wasted.
13 They gathered twelve baskets of leftovers after everyone had eaten.
