Deveres conjugais

22 Esposas, cada uma de vocês deve se sujeitar ao seu marido, como ao Senhor, 23 pois o marido é o cabeça da esposa, como também Cristo é o cabeça da igreja, que é o seu corpo, do qual ele é o Salvador. 24 Como a igreja está sujeita a Cristo, assim a esposa esteja sujeita em tudo ao marido.

25 Maridos, cada um de vocês deve amar a sua esposa, assim como Cristo amou a igreja e entregou-se por ela 26 para santificá-la, tendo-a purificado pelo lavar da água por meio da palavra, 27 e apresentá-la a si mesmo como igreja gloriosa, sem mancha, nem ruga, nem coisa semelhante, mas santa e sem culpa. 28 Da mesma forma, os maridos devem amar, cada um, a sua esposa como ao seu próprio corpo. Quem ama a sua esposa ama a si mesmo. 29 Além do mais, ninguém jamais odiou o próprio corpo; antes, alimenta-o e dele cuida, como também Cristo faz com a igreja, 30 pois somos membros do seu corpo.*5.30 Há manuscritos que acrescentam corpo, da sua carne e dos seus ossos.31 "Por essa razão, o homem deixará pai e mãe e se unirá à sua mulher, e os dois se tornarão uma só carne."*5.31 Gn 2.24.32 Este é um grande mistério; refiro-me, porém, a Cristo e à igreja. 33 Portanto, cada um de vocês também ame a sua esposa como a si mesmo, e a esposa trate o marido com todo o respeito.

22 Wives, be in subjection unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, being himself the saviour of the body. 24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it; 26 that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word, 27 that he might present the church to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28 Even so ought husbands also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his own wife loveth himself: 29 for no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as Christ also the church; 30 because we are members of his body. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh. 32 This mystery is great: but I speak in regard of Christ and of the church. 33 Nevertheless do ye also severally love each one his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she fear her husband.
