1 Kun muuri oli rakennettu, asetin minä ovet paikoillensa; ja niiden vartioimisen saivat ovenvartijat, veisaajat ja leeviläiset tehtäväkseen.
2 Ja Jerusalemin päämiehiksi minä asetin veljeni Hananin ja linnanpäällikön Hananjan, sillä hän oli luotettava mies ja pelkäsi Jumalaa enemmän kuin moni muu.
4 Kaupunki oli joka suuntaan tilava ja suuri, mutta väkeä siinä oli vähän, ja taloja oli vielä rakentamatta.
5 Niin Jumala antoi minun sydämeeni, että minun oli koottava ylimykset, esimiehet ja kansa sukuluetteloon merkittäviksi. Silloin minä löysin niiden sukuluettelon, jotka ensin olivat tulleet sinne, ja huomasin siihen kirjoitetun:
7 ne, jotka tulivat Serubbaabelin, Jeesuan, Nehemian, Asarjan, Raamian, Nahamanin, Mordokain, Bilsanin, Misperetin, Bigvain, Nehumin ja Baanan kanssa. Israelin kansan miesten lukumäärä oli:
8 Paroksen jälkeläisiä kaksituhatta sata seitsemänkymmentä kaksi;
9 Sefatjan jälkeläisiä kolmesataa seitsemänkymmentä kaksi;
10 Aarahin jälkeläisiä kuusisataa viisikymmentä kaksi;
11 Pahat-Mooabin jälkeläisiä, nimittäin Jeesuan ja Jooabin jälkeläisiä, kaksituhatta kahdeksansataa kahdeksantoista;
12 Eelamin jälkeläisiä tuhat kaksisataa viisikymmentä neljä;
13 Sattun jälkeläisiä kahdeksansataa neljäkymmentä viisi;
14 Sakkain jälkeläisiä seitsemänsataa kuusikymmentä;

17 Asgadin jälkeläisiä kaksituhatta kolmesataa kaksikymmentä kaksi;
18 Adonikamin jälkeläisiä kuusisataa kuusikymmentä seitsemän;
19 Bigvain jälkeläisiä kaksituhatta kuusikymmentä seitsemän;
20 Aadinin jälkeläisiä kuusisataa viisikymmentä viisi;
21 Aaterin, nimittäin Hiskian, jälkeläisiä yhdeksänkymmentä kahdeksan;
22 Haasumin jälkeläisiä kolmesataa kaksikymmentä kahdeksan;
23 Beesain jälkeläisiä kolmesataa kaksikymmentäneljä;
24 Haarifin jälkeläisiä sata kaksitoista;
25 gibeonilaisia yhdeksänkymmentä viisi;
26 Beetlehemin ja Netofan miehiä sata kahdeksankymmentä kahdeksan;
27 Anatotin miehiä sata kaksikymmentä kahdeksan;
28 Beet-Asmavetin miehiä neljäkymmentä kaksi;
29 Kirjat-Jearimin, Kefiran ja Beerotin miehiä seitsemänsataa neljäkymmentä kolme;
30 Raaman ja Geban miehiä kuusisataa kaksikymmentä yksi;
31 Mikmaan miehiä sata kaksikymmentä kaksi;
32 Beetelin ja Ain miehiä sata kaksikymmentä kolme;
33 toisen Nebon miehiä viisikymmentä kaksi;
34 toisen Eelamin jälkeläisiä tuhat kaksisataa viisikymmentä neljä;
35 Haarimin jälkeläisiä kolmesataa kaksikymmentä;
36 jerikolaisia kolmesataa neljäkymmentä viisi;
37 loodilaisia, haadidilaisia ja oonolaisia seitsemänsataa kaksikymmentä yksi;
38 senaalaisia kolmetuhatta yhdeksänsataa kolmekymmentä.
39 Pappeja oli: Jedajan jälkeläisiä, nimittäin Jesuan sukua, yhdeksänsataa seitsemänkymmentä kolme;
40 Immerin jälkeläisiä tuhat viisikymmentä kaksi;
41 Pashurin jälkeläisiä tuhat kaksisataa neljäkymmentä seitsemän;
42 Haarimin jälkeläisiä tuhat seitsemäntoista.
43 Leeviläisiä oli: Jeesuan ja Kadmielin jälkeläisiä, nimittäin Hoodevan jälkeläisiä, seitsemänkymmentä neljä.
44 Veisaajia oli: Aasafin jälkeläisiä sata neljäkymmentä kahdeksan.
45 Ovenvartijoita oli: Sallumin jälkeläisiä, Aaterin jälkeläisiä, Talmonin jälkeläisiä, Akkubin jälkeläisiä, Hatitan jälkeläisiä, Soobain jälkeläisiä sata kolmekymmentä kahdeksan.
46 Temppelipalvelijoita oli: Siihan jälkeläiset, Hasufan jälkeläiset, Tabbaotin jälkeläiset,
47 Keeroksen jälkeläiset, Siian jälkeläiset, Paadonin jälkeläiset,
48 Lebanan jälkeläiset, Hagaban jälkeläiset, Salmain jälkeläiset,
49 Haananin jälkeläiset, Giddelin jälkeläiset, Gaharin jälkeläiset,
50 Reajan jälkeläiset, Resinin jälkeläiset, Nekodan jälkeläiset,
51 Gassamin jälkeläiset, Ussan jälkeläiset, Paaseahin jälkeläiset,
52 Beesain jälkeläiset, Meunimin jälkeläiset, Nefusesimin jälkeläiset,

57 Salomon palvelijain jälkeläisiä oli: Sootain jälkeläiset, Sooferetin jälkeläiset, Peridan jälkeläiset,
58 Jaalan jälkeläiset, Darkonin jälkeläiset, Giddelin jälkeläiset,
59 Sefatjan jälkeläiset, Hattilin jälkeläiset, Kooferet-Sebaimin jälkeläiset, Aamonin jälkeläiset.
60 Temppelipalvelijoita ja Salomon palvelijain jälkeläisiä oli kaikkiaan kolmesataa yhdeksänkymmentä kaksi.
61 Nämä ovat ne, jotka lähtivät Teel-Melahista, Teel-Harsasta, Kerub-Addonista ja Immeristä, voimatta ilmoittaa perhekuntaansa ja syntyperäänsä, olivatko israelilaisia:
62 Delajan jälkeläiset, Tobian jälkeläiset, Nekodan jälkeläiset, kuusisataa neljäkymmentä kaksi.
63 Ja pappeja: Habaijan jälkeläiset, Koosin jälkeläiset, Barsillain jälkeläiset, sen, joka oli ottanut itsellensä vaimon gileadilaisen Barsillain tyttäristä ja jota kutsuttiin heidän nimellään.
64 Nämä etsivät sukuluetteloitaan, niitä löytämättä, ja niin heidät julistettiin pappeuteen kelpaamattomiksi.
65 Maaherra kielsi heitä syömästä korkeasti-pyhää, ennenkuin nousisi pappi, joka voi käyttää uurimia ja tummimia.
66 Koko seurakunta yhteenlaskettuna oli neljäkymmentäkaksi tuhatta kolmesataa kuusikymmentä,
67 paitsi heidän palvelijoitansa ja palvelijattariansa, joita oli seitsemäntuhatta kolmesataa kolmekymmentä seitsemän. Lisäksi oli heillä kaksisataa neljäkymmentä viisi mies-ja naisveisaajaa.

69 (H7:68) Kameleja heillä oli neljäsataa kolmekymmentä viisi, aaseja kuusituhatta seitsemänsataa kaksikymmentä.
70 (H7:69) Osa perhekunta-päämiehistä antoi lahjoja rakennustyötä varten. Maaherra antoi rahastoon tuhat dareikkia kultaa, viisikymmentä maljaa ja viisisataa kolmekymmentä papin-ihokasta.
71 (H7:70) Ja muutamat perhekunta-päämiehistä antoivat rakennusrahastoon kaksikymmentä tuhatta dareikkia kultaa ja kaksituhatta kaksisataa miinaa hopeata.
72 (H7:71) Ja muu kansa antoi yhteensä kaksikymmentä tuhatta dareikkia kultaa ja kaksituhatta miinaa hopeata sekä kuusikymmentä seitsemän papin-ihokasta.
73 (H7:72) Ja papit, leeviläiset, ovenvartijat, veisaajat ja osa kansasta sekä temppelipalvelijat, koko Israel, asettuivat kaupunkeihinsa. Ja niin tuli seitsemäs kuukausi, ja israelilaiset olivat jo kaupungeissansa.
1 And it cometh to pass, when the wall hath been built, that I set up the doors, and the gatekeepers are appointed, and the singers, and the Levites,
2 and I charge Hanani my brother, and Hananiah head of the palace, concerning Jerusalem -- for he [is] as a man of truth, and fearing God above many --
3 and I say to them, `Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened till the heat of the sun, and while they are standing by let them shut the doors, and fasten, and appoint guards of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, each in his guard, and each over-against his house.`
4 And the city [is] broad on both sides, and great, and the people [are] few in its midst, and there are no houses builded;
5 and my God putteth it unto my heart, and I gather the freeman, and the prefects, and the people, for the genealogy, and I find a book of the genealogy of those coming up at the beginning, and I find written in it: --
6 These [are] sons of the province, those coming up of the captives of the removal that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon removed -- and they turn back to Jerusalem and to Judah, each to his city --
7 who are coming in with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, Baanah. Number of the men of the people of Israel:
8 Sons of Parosh: two thousand a hundred and seventy and two.
9 Sons of Shephatiah: three hundred seventy and two.
10 Sons of Arah: six hundred fifty and two.
11 Sons of Pahath-Moab, of the sons of Jeshua and Joab: two thousand and eight hundred [and] eighteen.
12 Sons of Elam: a thousand two hundred fifty and four.
13 Sons of Zattu: eight hundred forty and five.
14 Sons of Zaccai: seven hundred and sixty.
15 Sons of Binnui: six hundred forty and eight.

57 Sons of the servants of Solomon: sons of Sotai, sons of Sophereth, sons of Perida,
58 sons of Jaala, sons of Darkon, sons of Giddel,
59 sons of Shephatiah, sons of Hattil, sons of Pochereth of Zebaim, sons of Amon.
60 All the Nethinim and the sons of the servants of Solomon [are] three hundred ninety and two.
61 And these [are] those coming up from Tel-Melah, Tel-Harsha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer -- and they have not been able to declare the house of their fathers, and their seed, whether they [are] of Israel --
62 sons of Delaiah, sons of Tobiah, sons of Nekoda, six hundred forty and two.
63 And of the priests: sons of Habaiah sons of Koz, sons of Barzillai, who hath taken from the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite a wife, and is called by their name.
64 These have sought their register among those reckoning themselves by genealogy, and it hath not been found, and they are redeemed from the priesthood,
65 and the Tirshatha saith to them that they eat not of the most holy things till the standing up of the priest with Urim and Thummim.
66 All the assembly together [is] four myriads two thousand three hundred and sixty,
67 apart from their servants and their handmaids -- these [are] seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven; and of them [are] singers and songstresses, two hundred forty and five.
68 Their horses [are] seven hundred thirty and six; their mules, two hundred [and] forty and five;
69 camels, four hundred thirty and five; asses, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.
70 And from the extremity of the heads of the fathers they have given to the work; the Tirshatha hath given to the treasure, of gold, drams a thousand, bowls fifty, priests` coats thirty and five hundred.
71 And of the heads of the fathers they have given to the treasure of the work, of gold, drams two myriads, and of silver, pounds two thousand and two hundred.
72 And that which the rest of the people have given [is] of gold, drams two myriads, and of silver, pounds two thousand, and of priests coats, sixty and seven.
73 And they dwell -- the priests, and the Levites, and the gatekeepers, and the singers, and [some] of the people, and the Nethinim, and all Israel -- in their cities, and the seventh month cometh, and the sons of Israel [are] in their cities.
