Os deveres dos velhos, das velhas, dos moços e dos servos

1 Tu, porém, fala o que convém *vd.Tt 1.9à sã doutrina. 2 Exorta *cp.Fm 9os velhos a que sejam *vd.1Tm 3.2sóbrios, circunspectos, prudentes, *Tt 1.13sãos *1Tm 1.2; cp.1Tm 1.14na fé, no amor e na perseverança; 3 da mesma maneira, as velhas, a que sejam de compostura reverente, *vd.1Tm 3.11não maldizentes, não *1Tm 3.8dadas ao excesso no uso do vinho, a que ensinem o bem, 4 para que instruam as mulheres moças a amarem seus maridos e seus filhos, 5 a serem prudentes, castas, *cp.1Tm 5.14cuidadosas da casa, bondosas, *vd.Ef 5.22sujeitas a seus maridos *1Tm 6.1a fim de que a palavra de Deus não seja blasfemada. 6 Exorta também *1Tm 5.1os moços a que sejam prudentes em tudo 7 e faze-te a ti mesmo *vd.1Tm 4.12um exemplo de boas obras; na tua doutrina, mostrando integridade, seriedade 8 e linguagem sã e irrepreensível, *1Pe 2.12; cp.2Ts 3.14para que o adversário se confunda, não tendo mal algum que dizer de nós. 9 Exorta *vd.Ef 6.5;1Tm 6.1os servos a que sejam sujeitos a seus senhores, que lhes sejam agradáveis em tudo; 10 e que não os contradigam, que não os defraudem, mas que lhes manifestem em tudo perfeita fidelidade, a fim de que em tudo honrem a doutrina de *vd.Tt 1.3Deus, nosso Salvador. 11 Pois a graça de Deus *vd.2Tm 1.10; cp.Tt 3.4se manifestou, *vd.1Tm 2.4trazendo a salvação a todos os homens, 12 ensinando-nos, a fim de que, renunciando a impiedade e *cp.1Tm 6.9;Tt 3.3as paixões mundanas, *2Tm 3.12vivamos *vd.1Tm 6.17no presente mundo sóbria, reta e piamente, 13 aguardando a bem-aventurada esperança *vd.2Ts 2.8e a manifestação da glória do *2Pe 1.1; cp.1Tm 1.1;2Tm 1.2;Tt 1.4grande Deus e nosso Salvador Cristo Jesus, 14 que *vd.1Tm 2.6se deu a si mesmo por nós, *vd.1Pe 1.18s.a fim de nos remir de toda iniquidade e *Hb 1.3;9.14;1Jo 1.7purificar para si *Êx 19.5;Dt 14.2;1Pe 2.9; vd.Ef 1.11um povo todo seu, *Ef 2.10;Tt 3.8;1Pe 3.13zeloso de boas obras.

15 Fala essas coisas, *1Tm 4.13;5.20; vd.2Tm 4.2exorta e repreende com toda a autoridade. *vd.1Tm 4.12Ninguém te despreze.

1 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: 2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. 3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. 6 Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. 7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, 8 Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you. 9 Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again; 10 Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. 11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. 15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
