1 Se não fora Jeová que esteve ao nosso lado, Diga, pois, Israel;

2 Se não fora Jeová que esteve ao nosso lado, Quando os homens se levantaram contra nós:

3 Então nos teriam engolido vivos, Quando a sua ira se acendeu contra nós;

4 Então nos teriam submergido as águas, Sobre a nossa alma teria passado a torrente;

5 Então sobre a nossa alma teriam passado as águas altivas.

6 Bendito seja Jeová, Que não nos entregou, como presa, aos dentes deles.

7 A nossa alma, como um pássaro, escapou do laço dos caçadores; Quebrou-se o laço, e nós escapamos,

8 O nosso auxílio está em o nome de Jeová, Que fez o céu e a terra.

2 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:

3 Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:

4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:

5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

6 Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.

7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
