3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.
4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,
16 For all that is in the worldthe lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of lifeis not of the Father but is of the world.
11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.«
16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but associate with the lowly. Do not be conceited.
12 Therefore let any one who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.
3 If I give all I have to the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
17 But, »Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.«
18 For it is not he who commends himself that is approved, but he whom the Lord commends.
6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, »God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.«
9 But the brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position;
10 and the rich man is to glory in his humiliation, because like the flower of the grass he will pass away.
17 Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with everything to enjoy.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things, and the things that are not, to nullify the things that are,
29 so that no flesh may boast before God.
20 And he said, »What comes out of a man is what defiles a man.
21 For from within, out of the heart of men, come evil thoughts, fornications, theft, murder, adultery,
22 coveting, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, pride, foolishness.
23 All these evil things come from within, and they defile a man.«
5 Likewise you that are younger men be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for »God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.«
6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.
7 Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you.
10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.
