8 But God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us.
21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.
22 »He committed no sin,and no deceit was found in his mouth;«
23 when he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he uttered no threats, but he trusted himself to him who judges justly.
24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same nature, that through death he might destroy him who has the power of death, that is, the devil,
15 and might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives.
17 For this reason my Father loves me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again.
18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from my Father.«
38 Then he said to them, »My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with me.«
8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to deatheven death on a cross.
45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.«
55 Now the chief priests and the whole council sought testimony against Jesus to put him to death, but they found none.
21 From that time Jesus began to show to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised on the third day.
