Sing, O barren, you who did not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, you who did not travail: for more are the sons of the desolate than the sons of the married wife, says Yahweh.
Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of your habitations; do not spare: lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes.
For you will spread abroad on the right hand and on the left; and your seed will possess the nations, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.
Don't be afraid; for you will not be ashamed: neither be confounded; for you will not be put to shame: for you will forget the shame of your youth; and the reproach of your widowhood you will remember no more.
For your Maker is your husband; Yahweh of hosts is his name: and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he will be called the God of the whole earth.
For Yahweh has called you as a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit, even a wife of youth, when she is cast off, says your God.
For a small moment I have forsaken you; but with great mercies I will gather you.
In overflowing wrath I hid my face from you for a moment; but with everlasting loving-kindness I will have mercy on you, says Yahweh your Redeemer.
For this is [as] the waters of Noah to me; for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah will no more go over the earth, so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you, nor rebuke you.
For the mountains may depart, and the hills be removed; but my loving-kindness will not depart from you, neither will my covenant of peace be removed, says Yahweh who has mercy on you.
O you afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, look, I will set your stones in fair colors, and lay your foundations with sapphires.
And I will make your pinnacles of rubies, and your gates of carbuncles, and all your border of precious stones.
And all your sons will be taught of Yahweh; and great will be the peace of your sons.
In righteousness you will be established: you will be far from oppression, for you will not fear; and from terror, for it will not come near you.
Look, they may gather together, but not by me: whoever will gather together against you will fall because of you.
Look, I have created the blacksmith that blows the fire of coals, and brings forth a weapon for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.
No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; and every tongue that will rise against you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the slaves of Yahweh, and their righteousness which is of me, says Yahweh.
